I was reading the novelization of Revenge of The Sith and Obi-Wan is having a conversation with Padme about Anakin. Obi-Wan states that he was researching the prophecy and that no where in the prophecy does it state that the Chosen One has to be a Jedi. Does it simply mean that a Sith would be the one to bring balance to the Force?

Could be a possibilty as bringing balance to the Force is eradicating the Sith. A Sith can do that, all it means s/he's just turned to the light side.
Hence Vader.

Kind of.
Obi just begins to feel that the Jedi may have misunderstood the prophecy.
While the other Jedi may be beginning to doubt that Ani ever was the chosen one, Obi simply begins to think that they may not have understood what it means to be the chosen one.

GL has stated on numerous occasions that Ani IS the chosen one and DOES bring balance to the Force when he kills the Emperor in ROTJ.

not again messed

oh well...GL may have declared that anakin is the chosen one...but what the hell does he know, right?
