Who hates soccer and who likes it

For some reason I love it when it's national teams, otherwise
I can't stand it, or any other sport for that matter.

i love soccer but i hate it when ppl call it that, its originally called footbal everywhere else xcept in the us

American soccer and British football are the same thing. American football and British football are different. American football is more like rugby than proper football

The real question should be why do Americans call American Football, Football - when it clearly isn't. Barely any use of the foot, and the fact that the ball isn't a ball.

It's more like Rugby, only with protection and rediculous tights.

American Rugby would be a better name.

Better yet "American Sissy Padded Gotta Wear A Helmet Cos Im A Pussy Rugby". Hehehehehe.

Gotsta ruffle a few feathers with that one.......

I've rediscovered my appreciation for football lately and turned into a super fan of the sport. This makes me the minority, as we are one of the few countries who has little appreciation for football because of our American orientation. It's "boring" if you're just looking at the scoreboard. It's the process. And it's steeped in ceremony and history which I also find interesting. Sadly, the history also includes violence ... "American football" is neither football nor rugby, so what is it, really??? Run in safety gear-with-the-ball-in-your-hand-?

Thanks, Deano. I'm not American, I'm from the Philippines, a country greatly influenced by American government, education, and pop culture. My co-football friends here are mostly women and we are NOT into the sport just because of those goodlooking players (and there are lots, must admit). We may not be that sophisticated as the European fans... but we actually talk abut THE game. Oh, you have no idea how difficult it is to be a football fan in a non-footballing nation...

American football is closer to Rugby than Football so it should be called American Rugby instead...

actually.. wad's it abt goals? isn't the whole team supposed to work together and let any person with the highest potential to score a goal DO IT?? i mean, all factors considered, like..position on the field and skills etc. y on earth then do players but not really all though, wanna give their own shot? i guess it wouldn't help any if the whole team got e same pay depending on the team's performance, would it? tt'd be too communist though. well well.. guess tt's what makes the game interesting. *competitions*lol.

the thing i find with football(soccor), is that if you have a bad game its bad... at least with american sports if you have a bad game its still watchable. i prefer basketball myself, so much skill involved, all the set plays etc. and the fact they constantly run up and down. its like in a football match when the commentators say "this is more like a basketball game!" thats when you know a football game is exciting

in regards to american football, i think its more specialised. in rugby you have all the specific players, but they stay on the pitch. in american football you have an offensive side and a defensive side, which gets confusing and means players have less all round skill. the padding is need though, in rugby you only tackle the player with the ball... in american football, u tackle any poor sod in your way. i'm not a fan of rugby, i shall be honest. but i do respect it

i dont any sports are gay, theres always a fan base for that sport so just respect it, you dont have to love it with the passion the fans have for it. i absolutely hate cricket, find it boring and tedious, but i know people love it and see the excitement, so i respect that.

american football is borin cos there are to many stoppages..if the game flowed a bit more like rugby then it would be better

I haven't been watching football long enough to engage in your debate, but the things that got me interested in football are its artistry and flow. Been watching basketball forever and was crazy about it at one point, but I never quite got the same kind of satisfaction as when I watch a great football match (of recent Liverpool vs. AC Milan in the Champs League final).

england will be much better defensivly to handle brazil..players like terry and carragher
also players like lampard, gerrard, joe cole, beckham, rooney owen

all are on top form

the oldest trophy in existence is the Scottish FA cup which has been around and is still used today for 132 years

the englsih FA cup you're refering to stopped being used in 1909 and even then that one was a replacement after it got stolen
