Well a while back i probably would have said superman. But if u actually had time to read any of his comics u would find he aint such a boy scout, overpowered superhero (read the death of superman, killed by a big rock lol). Im sure a lot of other people out there like him??
And yea he may not be a total badass but he does what superheros are suppose to do, very well.

Who do I hate? The Boy Commandoes. The only comic story I ever started to read but couldn't bring myself to finish featured these characters. They just evoke so much hostility from me, it's hard to put into words.

What the hell is that from red super-fly.As far as I know. Black cat is damn sexy for a start. And she has nout to do with Cap(well, on the spidey cartoon) or catwoman. She orignally was just a cat burglar(coz her pop was the greatest cat-burglar of all time) who used to prepare every situation so it would appear to her opponents as if bad luck was affecting them(blackcats-unlucky).She then for a while actually possessed the power to affect probability fields, and nowadays is just an olympic level athlete/martial artist(but cap is of course beyond any olympic athlete). I have a comic that proves this wrong. I myself was doubting Cyclops intestinal fortitude, until I recently picked up a comic where Cyclops and Wolverine are ambushed by Magnetos soldiers in the mutant war. Wolverine just stands there, and Cyclops (new post-Apocolypse Cyclops) takes them all out in a flash. Every single one of them. Wolverine even says "wow" or something. Wolverine said that.

I always liked Cyclops, but I believed he was used wrongly. They made him out to be a wuss when in actual fact he can have some serious power.

I don't think the Wonder Twins even qualify for this discussion, and the old Aqua Man was extremely lame (anyone who's only real power is talking to fish should probably find another line of work), but I have got to go with every single incarnation of Super Man. Way too much of the "Convenience Power" (Need to see through walls? I can do that. Super Strength? Yep. Fly in space? Sure can. Frosty breath? Easy as pie. Travel back in time and blah blah blah...). Give me a break. Part of what makes heroes so interesting are their vulnerabilities. Super Man was created in a time when they had no other characters to look to for ideas and inspiration. If you ask me, his time is up.

I can't stand overpowered heroes....( equivilant to all D.C. heroes :-)
But really Flash is uber powered, always gaining new powers and crap.
Also i dislike wolverine not because of sheer power but his super overexposure!

I'd say that its probably because he's one of the most iconic characters ever created by ANY comic company, that he WAS and IS still an original idea for a character, that he represents the everyday little guy's ability to rise up and become something more than he was (much like Spider-Man), and that in this day of cynicism and anti-United States and everything else that has anything to do with morals and decency, it's nice to have a comic book character for MY son to look up to that doesn't have claws or guns or anger issues or a dependency problem.

So... what's your reason?

I don't like Superman. In fact, I'm not a fan of "flying" superheroes at all.

If they have wings, or a machine of some sort, then fine, but heroes that fly just for the hell of it are lame. I don't care if its self-telekinesis or some sort of crappy made-up reason, it's rubbish.

I hate spiderman because he is like a spider and I HATE spiders. He doesnt seem to care that he is losing or has lost his humanity, and preferrs to dress up as an arachnid. YUCK!!

Not kidding. Wolverine is one of the New Avengers now (thanks to Bendis; maybe he was reading this thread and saw your entry). I always thought of the Avengers as the squeaky-cleaner good guys, and I don't see how Wolverine is going to mesh with that concept. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

i thought the same of the avengers, until i read the ultimates, but yeah, they've changed the avengers so much now. i'd rather wolverine just disappeared, but i heard he was goin to the avengers, so it was some consolation, not much, but some.

Yeah, whoopee. Now I get to read him wax philosophical about how he can't remember this and nobody loves me, boo hoo hoo... I say put him in his own book, JUST his own book, and let the rest of us read about somebody we want to read about. I'm not taking anything away from Wolverine, it's just that whenever he's in a comic, the writers tend to spend WAY too much time on him and not the rest of the team as a whole.

But I have to say that the Ultimate Cap is cool, when he beat up Pym was just cool, and I think his "This A doesn't stand for France" was one of the funniest things I ever read in a comic book.

Just playing devil's advocate. I'm not excited for Wolverine (nor Bendis for that matter) to be on Avengers, unless they pull him out of the entire X-universe, but they won't, because being on 4 teams at the same time makes sense. Anyways.

The Avenger have included in their roster several not so squeaky clean people.
Former terrorists (Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch).
The living embodiment of property damage (Hulk),
Former criminals/mercenaries (Hawkeye, Swordsman, Sand Man, Moon Knight, Black Widow, Wonder Man, Ant Man II)
Murderers (Jim Hammond, USAgent, Captain America, and I'm assuming as a legendary space soldier Mar-Vell took a life or two at one point, as well as Thor, Hercules and Gilgamesh most likely, and perhaps Dane Whitman as he did go back in time and serve through the crusades in medieval Europe)
Pimps and drug dealers (Falcon, as horrible as his pimp retcon was)
Prostitutes (Mantis)
Really mean snooty bitches (Moondragon)

And other members who have morally ambiguous pasts, i.e. Triathalon getting kicked out of the olympics because of steroids, Stark being a weapons designer. Heck, any given line up could have members with more legal trouble than some of the Thunderbolts.

And one of their associates also happens to be the SON OF SATAN, who's not a very nice guy anymore, although to be fair at the time of their association he was a real nice chap.

But again, I do see where Wolverine being an Avengers isn't exactly a fun time. I think the Avengers should have a few new by-laws, such as no redundant members (2 enhanced street level fighters--Cap and Wolverine, now in a sticky situation where Cap would have been taken out before, but other Avengers surviving because of various reasons, you'll have 2 characters taken out by the same threat) That's just my idea though.

In answer to the "devil's advocate" quoting me (I get no respect. Where's my by-line?), here's my response:

I referred to the Avengers as squeaky clean only because they have government funding and are sanctioned by the United Nations (or were up until Bendis showed up). As for the rest of your statement:
1) Quicksilver and the Scarlett Witch were reformed and pardoned for their previous terrorist activities. It was determined that Magneto, their father, had brainwashed them from childhood.
2) Hulk got kicked out and removed from the original by-laws founding agreement. Essentially, his membership was erased.
3) Reformed, reformed, reformed. Everyone deserves a second chance (Cap has been drilling that into the other Avengers' heads ever since he joined up in Avengers #4).
4) Murderers? They were SOLDIERS. 'Nuff said.
5) The Falcon is also reformed, and spent plenty of time as Cap's partner and probably closest friend. More than made up for his previous life of petty crime.
6) Ain't nuthin' wrong with that, baby!
7) Yeah, but the bald head is sexy.

I agree that Cap and Wolverine's fighting abilities kind of overlap a bit, but my problem with him is every writer who writes Wolverine tends to overshadow the other characters with him. The Avengers is about the whole team, with story arcs jumping back and forth through all of the characters. I just think this dynamic is going to get messed up with such a strong fan favorite as Wolverine on board the team.

As I said, I was playing the unwilling skeptic just for kicks. Many of the rougher characters are my favorites. When Lang was killed, I was spun into a dimension of pissed off you can't imagine, the gritty Falcon is the reason I buy Cap and Falcon along with Quicksilver and Moon Knight being favorites of mine. And seeing Moondragon get completely owned by the Magus was sweet in Captain Marvel. He made her cry and put her in her place.

New Avengers is designed to be a who's who, plus Bendis' pet characters. With Spider-Man on the team as well, perhaps the two hugely popular characters will negate each other out in terms of spotlight stealing, providing a chance for regular ol' good team stories to be told. Or it's just going to be a massive crap pile. Depending on if the first arc goes anywhere, I may reinvest my money else where.

Please, Rob Liefeld though he did draw a great deal of X-Force's comics for Cable wasn't the sole creator and developer of the character. As far as I'm concerned it was Louise Simonson who initially did the writing for the character who gets more credit than Rob steal other peoples concepts Liefeld. Just like Fabian Nicieza gets more credit for the development of Deadpool than Liefeld did. Rob just gave input here and there along with his crappy art. But yeah, I feel you. Liefeld is a monster but Cable, Deadpool and Domino are the only things associated with him I can stand.

i love the art and ususally the story but I hate the whole concept of the Xmen. especially when somone like Wolvie, Gambit or Rogue is about to deliver the death blow on one of thier foes, one of those b-itch made charaters like scott, kurt, angel, or the professor breaks out that patented

i actually like quiksilver more than flash. i know he is a ripoff of the flash but his powers are reasonable. the flash can run faster than lightspeed and can move so fast that he can walk thru walls where as quicksilver can only go 200mph and his body is built to go that fast

Also Namor's powers have been changed not for the better.

Capt. JK if u can't keep these conversations clean without insulting, I can do the same. I said what I said cuz I was surprised at some things that were said here. I think that most of the characters that are being spit over in this thread are special in their own way, and that so much derogatory criticism is not in order. Plus I hate when people use the word gay for everything they don't like. That is so dumb. I can understand when u say it just because of the charaqcter's costume, but not about the guy in general.

My point was you were already being insulting to the people who were responding to the thread. You didn't even add your own feelings about any character, you just insulted those of us who did. I highly doubt you actually love every single comic character ever created, so why not just name somebody you don't like and why. Your comments about wanting to puke and us needing time away from comics were very insulting, and if you meant them any other way, then you should definitely choose another way of saying it.

I've never backed down from anyone in my life when I was right, and I'm not going to do it now. Your comments were inflammatory, derogatory, and insulting, and basically you sounded like you thought you were being cute. I wasn't impressed then, and I'm not now.

Actually, Namor was first. Namor debuted in Marvel Comics #1 in 1939 while Aquaman came around in MORE FUN COMICS #73 in 1941. So there's a two year gap between them my friend which left plenty of time for Detective Comics to base their character on virtually a similar concept.

I really hate superman a whole, whole, lot, especially "pre-crisis" superman. he prances around the universe blowing out stars with his super gay arctic breath, and juggling planets, all while wearing tights, red briefs and a cape. The utter non-realism disgusts me.
