Yep. To think that Tolkien dedicated years of his life to writing these books to one day have 13 year old girls who's idea of literacy is to read the pop page of "The Sun" only thinking that the whole of his work is about Orlando Blooms fkn tights is quite tragic.

Lord of the Rings isn't everyones style of movie...but it is one of the greatest film achievements of the movie industry. Between the use of miniature, superb acting, brilliant special effects, it is considered a good movie-despite any aspects of the plot.

Another point- just becuase a movie is long has nothing to do with the quality of it...

Just because a because they are similar...doesnt mean that the books and movies can't be viewed as two entirly seperate entities. and just becuase you dislike/like one will necessarily mean the same for the other.

They're amazing films. Watching them is a feast for the senses, the direction and blatant skill and dedication it took for everyone to make these movies is amazing to think about.

exactly...just because they arnt your style doesnt mean you have to ignore the brilliance it took to make them..
