Opening up the can, as always...

Firstly, the ancient Sith were more numerous. Second, they had people like Naga Sadow to teach them. The reason I think numbers are important is because it increases the chances that some new power will be discovered by that person and taught to everyone else, maikng them more powerful.
Darth_Janus
I agree on all points. Plus the ancient Jedi and Sith had more reason to be amazing fighters, considering they were battling one another for almost millenia.
Darth Mantis
That's a good point.
Fishy
Ancient Sith were more powerful, they fought more Jedi, they fought more Sith, they had more people that could take power from them. They had a lot more experience, and there names sound better

Janus literally sounds like a kindergartner. Wow, for a bully he really has little to show for himself.

Are we just talking each in a big horde? If so, they'll win. But individual, post-Ruusian RoT sith are quite formidable.
The Rule of Two sith spent all of a thousand years picking only top potential people, and training them to continue an accumulation of knowledge.
The Ancient Sith ran an actual civilization, with the pros and cons thereof.
In general, individual RoT sith could walk into the Sith Empire and reach the highest ranks. Some could beat the individual top sith, some couldn't, depending on both the RoT and top Ancient Sith in question. I think a lot of ways, the senior members of the RoT were on pretty much the same level as the rulers of the Ancient Sith Empire.

Didn't Naga Sadow only have one student of any note, Freedon Nadd?
Flipside, it also results in knowledge lost, like Darth Andeddu's breakthroughs being lost because despite being the strongest of his day, his opponents would gang up on him.

Wow. You're really gonna waste time to responding to posters from 2005 that won't be replying to you?

I have reasons to dislike Janus.
Far above them, I'd say. I don't think any pre-Vitiate sith ever reached Vader's level of power.

Tulak Hord? Marka Ragnos? The original Exiles? There might be more.
Karness Muur, for example, was implied to be more powerful then Darth Vader and a legitimate threat to Palpatine.

Every ROT sith gets stronger so progressively so darth vectivus >>> Bane
NewGuy01
So... What's your point?
hutchy1345
So they're all pretty powerful
In fact every sith from bane to plagueis is probably underrated when you think about it
