What are thoughts about Wormholes. In the dictionary they say its a hole that transport you through the universe.......

debbiejo
I think it's a theory, not proven...If it is true, I hope we find one soon.

OR maybe it's how the ET's get to and from here...if you believe in them. alien2

Ketchuptome
They said wormholes are real on the science channel yes

eleveninches
Rotten apples sometimes have worm holes

BullitNutz
Apparently they're a theory. Nobody has unequivocally proven the existence of a wormhole before, but the theory itself is very feasible. (as opposed to creationism, which is complete hogwash) Many people think they have a link (theoretically) to black holes, but I doubt we'll know in our lifetime.

sk8stuff09
if they did exist, i could see ET's traveling through this becouse it would be alot faster than going across billions of galaxies..i believe in them

Ketchuptome
yes

How is this related to philosophy?

no clue

anywho i think they are very possible to exist.
and i think that black holes are related in some way..i think i've read somethin on it..not sure though

then don't post irrelevant things

and, i've heard they are possible. they haven't found one yet have they?

((The_Anomaly))
this is not a philosophical question, its more a question of physics.

((The_Anomaly))
however, according to some wormholes could allow us to travel through time. thus we could have a philosophical discussion on the ethics of time travel.

the_raven75
wtf mates

Wormholes are, theoretically, two or more black holes interlinked.

If Einstein's theory is correct and space-time can move and fluctuate, then they are highly possible.

See, again theoretically, nothing exists inside of a black hole, including time itself. Now, if space-time were to bend in a certain way where two black holes connected, they would create a 'tunnel' so to speak, across incalculable millions of miles.

Since 'time' does not exist in a black hole/wormhole, then, if it were possible to travel through one, then we would end up across the universe, and perhaps even in another time.

argen angel
yeah but according to einstein worm hole are impossible to create

argen angel
thou string theory says that buy removing a string from the space it occupies that is creates a rip causein a hole and a "worm hole"

Ketchuptome
I heard bout that on the science channel.

It might potentially be another portal to another universe.

hh?
you said that a thousand times already^

my last post was meant for Ketchuptome

well there our other systems out there. but there to far to reach. the closest star is 7 or 8 lightyears away so thats basicly 40 or 42 years earth wise. if we ever found a way to reach another sytem or galaxy it could take at least 100 years.

frodo34x
However, once you go into a wormhole, would it be possible to get out? It would mean exiting a black hole, which is pretty damn hard.

Mist
what is the difference between a worm hole and a black hole?confused

i have an idea...ill chuck a camera through one and watch what happenscool

eleveninches
Al you have to do is to dig in the front lawn of your house. There are sure to be a few wormholes there

Smoothcriminal
Warm holes.. hmm probably beyond earth.. maybe out in space some where.. but it would be nice if they had one where you can jump back and forth between dimensions

whirlysplat
Their are lots of different types of Wormhole;
Some involve things like Quantum tunnelling the most common theory is that of Lorentzian wormholes. big grin

st41k3r
and the ones in the ground!

Wormholes do exist. What I have noticed in this discussion is that most of you are limiting your warm hole to the easily recognizable 4 dimensions. What you have not considered is that a worm applies multi-dimensionally. Wormholes exist that do not effect time-space as we observe it because we cannot observe time space in certain measurements of reality via our perceptions of those realities.

To make it easier to understand, imagine looking out the window and seeing everyone that enters and exits the shed. If you stop looking out of the window then you cannot see who is entering and exiting the shed but your brother who is still looking is telling you that there are people still entering and exiting the shed.

In reality we cannot adjust our perceptions to encompass a post-4 dimensional measurement. We can how ever see the effects of other dimensions on the matter that we are observing. My metaphor should be of help to explain that.

If you (the community) wish for me to continue, then I can do so.

No a black hole is something different yes

A black hole is...I can't explain that properly....hmm it has a lot of mass...and therefore a lot of gravitation...and......it is something totally different to a wormhole

Um, no. A black hole is what is created when a star dies. It is a star of so much compact material that its mass has increases enormously. (A neutron star, the step before a black hole in mass, has so much mass that ten tonnes fit on a teaspoon - or so we were told at school)

However, the black hole's mass has so much gravity that even light cannot escape it. Hence the black hole.

Takes thousands of years to develop to. yes
