I'm not talking about good chord progressions, I'm talking about songs so full of emotion that it's nearly overwhelming.

For me, the following can make me cry if I'm depressed enough (and I don't cry easily):

The Day The World Went Away (Quiet) - Nine Inch Nails
La Mer - Nine Inch Nails

Your turn.

-Smitten Kitten-

VilleValo462
Hurt - NIN

Samas-adian
Paranoid Android - Radiohead
Karma Police - Radiohead
and
Territoral Pissings - Nirvana ( not sad, but when its aggressive)

amity75
I'm gonna be really sad and say "Here, There and Everywhere" by The Beatles but a really beautiful song is "4st 7lbs" by my beloved Manic Street Preachers. It contains the lyric "Self worth scatters/self esteems a bore/I've long since moved to a higher plateau/theres discipline so rare so please applaud/just look at the fat scum who pamper me so" It's about anorexia.

VilleValo462
never heard it

amity75
Go out and buy "The Holy Bible" album by Manic Street Preachers. It will change your life or your money back.

amity75
Actually, the most beautiful piece of music is probably "Adagio for Strings" by Samuel Barber. In the right mood that can make me cry.

nazgulinthedark
remember when - alan jackson

punkyhermy
hhhmm...
well it has to be love song for a vampire by annie lenox for the Bram strokers dracula movie. the most beautiful lyrics ever, my fav part has to be "once i held the rarest rose, that never deemed to bloom.cruel winter chilled the bud, and stole my flower too soon". it's so sad...and well-wrtten lyrics....they describe batsy so well sad
second is a tie between, my heart will go on by celine dion and i would do anything for love by meatloaf. the first one is my fav for obvious reasons...and the second is mainly beacuse of the video, it's set in this gothic castle from a where a beast watches a beauty...i LOVE that video, amazing song too!

Darth Revan
Well, if we're talking about lyrics... "What it's Like" by Everlast, "I Miss You" by blink-182, and "Heart-Shaped Box" by Nirvana.

mouth
almost any song from bob marley..

Sugar Kane
"The End" by The Doors

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes...again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need...of some...stranger's hand
In a...desperate land

Lost in a Roman...wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah...

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end

Evy_O
Until-Sting and Yesterday-Beatles

Strange Glue - Catatonia (part of the chorus is in my sig)

Hallilujah - Jeff Buckly (originaly by Leonard Cohan but I've only heard the Buckley version)

Nirvana's cover of Leadbelly's 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night', on MTV Unplugged, simply for the raw emotion in Kurt's voice when he screms the final chorus and his voice breaks. Porbably my fav song of all time.

Tex
Tonight Tonight - Smashing Pumpkins

total metalhead
A Perfect Circle-Rose

Glassjaw-Ape Dos Mil (mainly cos of Daryl's voice)

The sea's evaporating,
Though it comes as no suprise....
Those clouds were seeing,
They're explosions in the sky...
And it seems it's written,
But we can't read between the line...
Hush, it's okay.
Dry your eyes...

slashwristbarbi
Two by Jack Off Jill:

Witch Hunt - not strictly a song. More a creepy monologue read over background screaming and a creepy chanting of 'dead girls dance, they burn and twirl. Witch hunt, witch ****, burn that girl'

also:

Strawberry Gashes

Turn her over,
A candle is lit, I see through her.
Blow it out, and,
save all her ashes for me.
Curse me, sold her,
the poison that runs its course through her.
Pale white skin, with,
Strawberry gashes all over.

Watch me fault her,
Your living like a disaster.
She said "kill me faster",
With strawberry gashes all over, all over

Called her over,
and asked if she was improving.
She said, "feels fine,
Its wonderfull, wonderfull here".
Hex me, told her,
I dreamed of a devil that knew her.
Pale white skin, with,
Strawberry gashes all over.

Watch me fault her,
Your living like a disaster.
She said "kill me faster", with
strawberry gashes all over...

I lay quiet,
waiting for her voice to say.
"Some things you loose,
And some things you just give away"
Scold me, failed her.
If only I'd held on tighter,
To her pale white skin, that,
twisted and withered away from away from..

Watch me loose her,
Its almost like loosing myself
Give her my soul,
And let them take somebody else,
Get away from me...
Watch me fault her,
Your living like a disaster,
Kill me faster, with
Strawberry gashes all over, all over
me.

Placebo_fan
I think that Here with Me, by Dido is a beautiful song, in it's own way. The tune is so smooth and yet catchy, and the lyrics are of heartbreak and missing somebody. Great song to listen to if youre away from your loved one...Of course there's always spongebob squartepants...but that's more an ugly song than anything else. smile

total metalhead

Doll Parts:

I am doll eyes
Doll mouth, doll legs
I am doll arms
Big veins, dog bait

Yeah, they really want you
They really want you, they really do
Yeah, they really want you
They really want you, but I do too

I want to be the girl with the most cake
I love him so much, it just turns to hate
I fake it so real I am beyond fake
And someday you will ache like I ache
And someday you will ache like I ache
And someday you will ache like I ache
And someday you will ache like I ache
Someday you will ache like I ache

I am doll parts
Bad skin, doll heart
It stands for a knife
For the rest of my life

Yeah, they really want you
They really want you, they really do
Yeah, they really want you
They really want you, but I do too

I want to be the girl with the most cake
He only loves those things because he loves to see them break
I fake it so real I am beyond fake
And someday you will ache like I ache...
And someday you will ache like I ache...
Someday you will ache like I ache...
And someday you will ache like I ache...
And someday you will ache like I ache...
And someday you will ache like I ache...
And someday you will ache like I ache...
Someday you will ache like I ache...

The Holy Bible is great but Richey is a bit overrated as a lyricist, he's more a figurehead.

Weirdly, Silverchair - The Greatest View... I saw them live, and the lead singer was really struggling, he was brought onstage in a wheelchair and had to sit down half-way through the set... it just moved me for some reason

K's Choice - Not An Addict -- When you've been a stoner for a few years and you know people who take heavier stuff than just weed then this song suddenly touches a few nerves.

Alanis Morisette - One Hand In My Pocket -- Just a very optimistic song, it has a few lyrics that feel like they were written personally for me at times.

Metallica - Unforgiven II -- Metallica have a song for every human being alive, one they're passionate about and this is mine.

Quite a few songs by Counting Crows and Pearl Jam, to many to say, they have quite a collection of songs.

Ronny
Existentialism on Prom Night. Band: Straylight Run ...

There are moments when
When I know it and
The world revolves around us
And we're keeping it
Keep it all going
This delicate balance
Vulnerable, all knowing
(Sing like you think no one's listening)

You would kill for this
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
You would kill for this
(Sing like you think no one's listening)

You would kill for this
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
You would

Sing me something soft
Sad and delicate
Or loud and out of key
Sing me anything

We're glad for what we've got
Done with what we've lost
Our whole lives laid out
Right in front of us
(Sing like you think no one's listening)

You would kill for this
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
You would, you would
(Sing like you think no one's listening)

You would kill for this
Just a little bit
Just a little bit
You would

Sing me something soft
Sad and delicate
Or loud and out of key
Sing me anything
