Even the worst band in the world probably has a better sense of rythmn, structure, and accord than DEP.

DEP are one of the most technically proficient bands out there.

I realize that we're speaking in our own opinions, but I have an incredibly hard time finding any basis for that. They are noise, plain and simple. Inaudible, intolerable, inchoate noise. If I were to describe the "music" of DEP, it would be what a epileptic seizure would sound like, set to music. But, in "art", there are a lot of variables that have to be taken into account, unfortunately taste isn't always one of them.

Cine, out of curiousity have you heard TDEP's Miss Machine album? There's alot of melody on there.

Can't say I took you for a music fan scared away by a bit of noise. You do like NIN after all.

I heard Miss Machine in its entirity. It was excruciating, but I did, lol. That album was like "St. Anger" (the title track) on speed. Too busy, too many different influences/styles, too fast, undistinguishable noise. It's not something I can get into literally or figuratively. It's like trying to hop on a moving train.

NIN music cuts deep, the lyrics are coherent, you can groove to it, you can nod your head to it, you can **** to it. It's really raw, and there's a lot to absorb yourself in. DEP to me is the absolute definition of art, because essentially, it's someone elses way of expression. Thing is, how can anyone else relate or feel the same way?

I just don't like bands who's music you have to decode, then look up the lyrics for to get their message, given the fact their vox are audibly incoherent.

You guys can like whoever, of course, I just hope my point is getting across.

NIN lyrics bar The Fragile are lame. Occasionally good on The Downward Spiral.

If you don't like TDEP then fine, I don't see any reason to call them the worst band as they are great from even a technical stance only.

You don't HAVE to look up a message, you can get your own. That's what music is about.

I don't have a reason, I have an opinion with personal basis. In all my listening, they are the worst band I have ever heard. That's how I feel, and that's all anyone should need. As far as messages, or meaning behind someones music, how can anyone draw anything from theirs by simply listening to it, you know?

Technical proficiency is obsolete when there's no structure, no anatomy, no build. That's my opinion. Meshuggah is (factually) one of the most technically proficient bands, AND their music can actually be enjoyed. It's half way audibly distinct.

What do DEP fans have to say in the bands defense other than they are "technically proficient", that isn't a mere opinion. What good is one little aspect of the technicality of their music when the rest suffers. It's like John Holmes if he were a quadrapledgic. Angelina Jolie without lips.

Inaudible music is DEP, IMO. The vocals are indecipherable, the timing is off the wall and unpatternized, there's no catch, no frame, just..mess. How can anyone enjoy their music. It's like you have to sit there and that's it. No emotion.

It's all about the same revenue wise, if not better, artists putting their music on the internet. When actual albums sales are slow, they're benefitting from all the eMusic servers, and the fat contracts & exposure their labels are appeased with when they lend their artist to the service.

I wouldn't complain if I were an artist. Besides, touring and merch is where all the real money is at.

I can't stand them, s'all. I think they are one the worst sounding bands I have ever heard in the 25 years i have been alive. The lead singer's voice along with the whining guitarist backing up makes my ears hurt. I've heard cats f*ck with more harmony than them. I prefer real metal.

And The Fragile failed Commercially, and I liked it so I consider it underrated by those who didnt buy it . lol But oh well dont bother me, different strokes for different folks.
