soda... cuz its pop is fizzy...

I say soda also...

But mostly I call it by it's name...Coke, Pepsi, Sprite, etc.

i guess it's more common for people around the west to call it soda and the east to call it pop. i forgot what the are division is on that.

I say soda but from now on I'm going to say pop because pop sounds cooler. I never thought of this and usually I'm on top of what's cool.

Born and raised up North (Michigan) it was strictly "pop".........I never heard one person say "soda". After moving here to the midwest, borderline South (Kentucky) it is "Soda"........I havn't heard one person call it "pop".

There is definetly a geographic border on this subject........southerners tend to stick to the "old ways".......they shun change. In the 50's they went to their local diner and ordered a Soda shake.......today they go to their diner and order a soda shake.........

yeah im up north... minnesota... and i say soda... kinda got used to it on my many trips to arizona...

Being British the term 'Soda' is very rarely used, the term 'pop' is used more commonly but has two different meanings:
Pop (Def #1) ~ Used to describe a genre of music that includes Britney Spears, Madonna, Busted etc, music that is popular.

Pop (Def #2) ~ A fizzy drink such as coke, lemonade etc.

So with that in mind i'd have to go for Pop (Def #2 that is).

i hate both def. of pop.!!!

it's pop--it always has been and it alwasy will be!!!! in noroth dakota at least. everybody i talk to dat ain't from norda koda doesn't even have the faintest idea of wat i'm talkin bout...and it don't rilly sound as gay as ya'll think it mite. i even admit dat is looks as if it would sound gay if you called it dat but it actually doesn't. ya jus yell out "hey can git a dolla fer a pop" and it sounds normal....at least up here

Soda = american word for...
Soft drink = fizzy drink made from carbonated water and who knows what else.
i.e. Soft drink is the correct word (in my mind).

That is soda water, BackFire. That doesn't count. And all the Southern American people I am at basic with are calling it Soda, and making fun of me for calling it Pop.

No, it's the term for soda in some places. My cousin will be pouring some coke and say "do you want some tonic?"

Gah, I opted for pop, regression to my 4 year old days But I tend to call it Fizzy now, or just refer to it as its brand name.

yeah, i'd never heard of it either before I heard it for myself. I was like "what's tonic? Medicine?" And she started laughing at me

OMG, yes! Tonic is medicine, or it should be. Although, I used to serve mini bottles of tonic water as mixers when I worked in pubs

haha i don't actually call it fizzy juice, just thought it was funny...i usually just call it by the brand name, if not then pop

POP oh when i was down in texas (in from michigan) my cuzin asked me if i wanted a coke and he handed me a Mr.pib. and i asked for just a coke and he said oh we dont have coke.
