Youve got british movies with the gothic hammer horror, alot of ghost stories, they tend to be more dramatic and have a good storyline and avoid gore.

Whereas some Italian films are similar in dramatic tone ,again some ghost stories, but with a lot more gore, then you have your influential zombie and cannibal movies and giallos.

Americas main contribution seems to be the the Slasher flick.

Now you have australia making some good movies

As well as a few coming out of germany and france.

I think Britiain, America, Australia and Italy have been the most succesfully productive.

I know clive barker directed one. He is up there with Stephen king in writing. He leaves much to be desired as a director though.

im not being offensive or anything.. but i dont think america makes the best horror movies.. they are pretty good though.. id have to go with asia.. probably japan or korea..

MildPossession
Rage, I think you will find Germany started the genre moving, not America.

But it was America who got the modern horror genre moving thanks to German Expressionism.

romper_stomper
