Slipknot

Mudvayne went soft. They used to be so creative, now they're pretty much pop. Slipknot, whom I used to dislike, have reaaaaaaaaally matured as artists, and I think Corey Taylor is passionate as ****..so..the Knot by a mile.

well,i like both,but slipknot has toned down a hell of a lot more than mudvayne

i can't decide. i like them both for different reasons

I've never liked Mudvayne so I'd say Slipknot.

Eep! Slipknot is scary! I am going with Mudvayne at least they sing a bit in their songs,. Slipknot is just mindless screaming most of the time...*shudder*

mudvayne since ive heard more of their songs and they seem to be just a little bit softer than slipknot.

New stuff, not so much. Corey's got great chops, the Stone Sour album shows that. He's got an intriguing voice, especially on the spoken word track at the end of the SS album.

slipknot or mudvayne? definately slipknot..

I love LD 50, there's little debate in that Mudvayne is a very talented band. Unfortunately, as CA said, they went soft with their newer stuff.

So I gotta go with Slipknot.

As Stone Sour they were ok. As Slipknot, awful. Mudvayne has a few listenable tracks. So.... Mudvayne.

I don't like Mudvayne, so it would have to be Slipknot, like a few songs by Slipknot.

Slipknot. Mudvayne have always annoyed me for some reason.

BOTH yeah its not what the questions asking but w/e i like slipknots new song but i also like mudvaynes ive heard more of mudvayne that i like than slipknow but slipknot are still awsome *exscuse my use of the word awsome but it came to mind *

I hate the new slipknot cd.If was pretty much stone sour only under a different name.They even had an acoustic song!that's the reason I now hate seven dust and god smack.

Imo system of a down is now better than both.They're still pushing the boundries.

just because Slipknot do songs that arn't 3 minutes of screaming dosn't mean they've gone soft or are just "stone sour under a different name." Pantera made "suicide notes part one" and no one said "that albums shit, they've gone soft." Vol 3 is Slipknot maturing as artists. hating a band because they're expanding their horizons is pretty weak.

and while System are very very good, they arn't really forging new paths in the music world

They would be better if they did go soft. Those 3 minutes of screaming songs are crap.

Matured just means they no longer have the energy to do the heavy stuff.System of a down is doing timing signatures mudvayne or sliptknot had never thought of.They are pushing the envelope so much with their new album.

Huh, I think this thread should be "Slipknot or Mushroom Head" But nevermind. I would say Slipknot.

Mushroom head is realy cool.I just a lot of people compare slipknot and mudvayne

Well I said what I did because Mushroom Head started the whole image thing that they and Slipknot do. So.... Yeah.

Most people don't even realize mushroom head was around longer than slipknot.I didin't at first and said,look at these slipknot clones!Boy was I wrong

hardly, i saw them live after they released Vol 3 and they were just as hard as ever. not to mention that there are songs that are just as hard on Vol. 3 as there are on the selftitled album or Iowa.

i dont think System are pushing any boundarys with their timing on their new cd. they arn't doing anything all that special by droping into screaming and a breakdown at the end of a chorus one whole word early. want some good timing signatures, look at Dreamtheatre or some of the other prog bands out their. and while the new System cd is really quite good, i dont think its really breaking to many boundaries

nuts. hardly. and as Alpha has taught me on many occasions, assumption is the mother of all f*ck ups. i have listened to Violent Pornography many times and while there is some really good timing in there, one song hardly is enough to make the cd the totally ground breaking extravaganza your making it out to be. i'm not here challenging systems ability, i saw them play the same day as slipknot, they are amazing live, but i dont think they pushed the envelope too far on this cd.

dream theatre is hardly cliched, they make some of the best music i've heard in a long time. sure, their latest outing wasn't groundbreaking but i'm not making that claim

More than one crazy song on that cd.

Dream theatre is overly cliched.The big guitars and such is way over with.They are awesome musicians,but too outdated for me.

Yer but slipknot screaming or not stil have 1 of if not the best drummer in the world and the sing acturly has a reali good voice they dont get the credit they desreve. slipknot 4 me

have you listened to their new cd? if you did, you'd see that they made a cd that is very recent in its style, you can hear slipknot and mudvayne in there if you listen, they made another musical triumph

Well I think it depends on how your comparing them.Vocals I think they're pretty much on par.Corey might have a bit more range on the lighter vocals,but the guy from Mudvayne I think has more of a heavy range.
When it comes to gutiar they both have their moments.The guy from Slipknot is awesome with the chops.I think Mudvayne gets a little more in depth with it in some parts though.
When it comes to bass Playing Mudvayne deystroys Slipknot.
Drum wise Slipknot has definetly got more of an assault on your ears going on.It's dead on and their.Mudvayne has more of almost a jazz like sound to some of the drumming.

I think it comes down to just who you prefer better though.

I'm becoming more and more fond of Slipknot with every day.

I like them both the same, I don't think that they are too comparable though. Sure they may be pretty heavy but they don't really sound a like, I love both bands and I don't think Mudvayne's new stuff got softer, but if it did, it doesn't matter, Slipknot's Subliminal Verses definiteley had tamer vocals but the guitar didn't sound any softer, but they've got some good tunes. But it's good for bands to change so you don't have to listen to the same thing over and over, that's what's good about System Of A Down, sure some of their songs may have sounded somewhat alike at one interval or another, but no albums sounded the same which was good, because it's always a new experience.

So there is my opinion, don't know if you liked it, but if you didn't then hey, shit happens. I never said you had to agree

Mudvayne used to be cool, now the only hits they get are slow sad songs, they get boring after a long time. Their really only good song would be Dig, and that was many many mooons ago old.

I completly agree with you for the most part.I think they had a lot better songs than Dig though.

Sure they could be attractive, but that doesn't mean that they play the best music.

both freakin rock... Mudvayne has Determined, happpy, ect. and they're a good band. but i like slipknot better. i love wait and bleed. awsome song. corey rox and joey is the best drummer ever

I love them becuse everybody has the right to change there music just like Slipknot there volume3 album was a LOT different that there self-titlled or Iwoa so don't let there music change your mind like them for what they have gained in the past years.....like I said before MuDvAyNe
