Attention all KMC DVD Collectors!
I've decided to compile a directory of all those KMC users who have their DVD collections catalogued online! Users of Dvdaficionado.com, guzzlefish.com, dvdtracker.com, and any other viewable cataloguing website are all welcome to submit their collection! This is for a fun thread that showcases everyones libraries. You may even make a new friend or two in the process. Want to submit? It's almost too easy.
If you haven't already registered or catalogued your collection, that's where you need to start.
Most KMC'er use Dvdaficionado.com. You can register by clicking here.
Guzzlefish.com is also available, and can also track your CD and video game collections as well! Both, invaluable resources.
If you have your collection registered, you're 1/2 way there!
Alls you have to do is either send me a
P.M. with the link to your collection, or post said link in this thread. Make sure it's accessible to public view, first. Then, wait and see your stack of plastic discs on display for all of KMC to see!
Have any questions? Feel free to contact me, and remember, this is not a competition, pictures aren't necessary, and all collections, no matter how small are welcome! Have fun!

I will probably do this eventually. I just counted and I have 140 DVDs. WOO HOO! I figured I only had about 110.
edit: 141! Forgot about one that currently was not with my collection.
MildPossession
I like the look of Guzzlefish, but it doesn't seem to let you look up movies in other regions, am I missing the option to do that because I can't find it?
MildPossession
It doesn't matter, have decided to go with DVD Aficionado instead, lots more choice.

Currently my own personal collection (which has been going for around 4 years) is:
- 543 single or double disc (although I have both standard and extended versions of LOTR trilogy)
- 59 box sets (includes all Trek up to enterprise and all Buffy/Angel)
- 32 adult educational dvds
Sometimes I feel like I'm living in Blockbusters. All thats missing is the sign over the front of my front door, lol.
(mind you. This all started because I wanted to replace my video collection which was aorund 500 films then).
MildPossession
Do you have the lists online to view?
MajorPayne
Sorry but no. I've never even though of making a list online actually.
Evil Dead
exactly........now I'm sitting at like 615 (box sets counted as 1).......

Cinemaddiction's DVD Library
I totally forgot to add my own. It's been going through a lot of transitions as of late, dropped like 70 titles over a month ago, and been slowly rebuilding with some solid ones.
indie_director
This is sad...sad...sad... I only have 4 DVD's. Yet that is not my fault. I had a VCR for the longest time, plus I'm only 15 it's not like I can buy them. But as of tomorrow that will change. I don't even own my most favourite movies on DVD

Titanic and The Matrix Trilogy.
Eraserhead
This is a great thread/idea. I have a pretty small collection, 115 as of right now, but I'm a firm believer in quality over quantity. I've only been collecting for a year and a half so I'm just getting started. That being said, I love my collection right now. I still have lots of films to add, though. Check my wishlist to see what I'll be purchasing in the future.

Lots of negatives when it comes to DVD Profiler, namely an ungodly layout, horrible pictures, no links to where it can be purchased, and doesn't give the status of the titles.

The new version, 2.4.0, is INFINITELY better than previous versions of DVD profiler. Great, crisp pictures of the DVD, profiles, links to DVD sites to order, and it now gives status of the title. I see only a few minor negatives with it, but I'm very impressed with the newer versions.

I'm finding that more times than not, Foreign based films experience more worthwhile releases. I'm not a huge fan of the Phantasm franchise, but the sphere case is to die for, as is the Hellraiser 1-3 puzzle box.

Look into region 2 and region 3 also, offer good dvds on most films imo, especially Japanese region 2(but expensive) and French region 2(but usually don't come with a choice for English subtitles...).

Mad! Thanks for the advice. I notice however that DVDs like Clerks X in region 2 are 3 discs where as I assume the region 1 DVD is 2 disc. That seemed kind of pointless since they both share the same amount of special features. Nothing's perfect though.

sorry for the double post....
my big problems with dvdaf was...
- the look
- larger pictures
- the set up
your owned folder could not contain more than 500 dvds........so if you had a lot, you had to make sub-folders. This pretty much means you had to make genre specific folders.....then classify which movies should be in which folder.
It sucked for linking......'cause if you've got 5 folders, you had to link to your home page which listed all your folders. If somebody didn't know how to navigate the site.......it sucked.
dvdspot........you can put as many dvds as you want....no foldering......they're all together. one folder, one link.....no hassle.

Intervocative's DVD Profiler has always done it for me.

C-Dic
When all was said and done, 134 discs (147 titles) made the cut. I realized that, for me, a "library" was unnecessary and a waste of space. I kept my absolute favorite movies, the rest can be rented for pennies. I'd much rather have the money.

There's actually a few downsides to DVD Spot, which is why I'd never switch. It's just too busy and needlessly complex. Movie synopsis' are worthless as are ratings. In addition, you can't copy titles from other user's folders to your own, and the production status isn't available, which is pretty important to a lot of collectors. The pictures are the same size, from what I can see, and the linking is hardly an issue if people know how to read.
