You have to get up in the night like every 2 hours to take shots.

Not always..
My sis has Diabetes, she takes 4 shots of insulin a day.. one after breakfast , lunch and dinner, then a last one b4 she goes to bed.
It's not too life restricting. But it's not pleasant either.
