My personal computer has stopped acessing the internet recently and now simple functions like the dvd player aren't working. Could this bedue to a virus?

you're going wrong here... you shouldn't wonder if it's due to a virus or not, you should be sure
always have a virusscanner on your pc and regulary scan, not when your PC gets into trouble

yeah ok that makes sense but hwat happens when you comp goes out cause you let ur brother or w/e use it. find out tyou have a virus, and try to use the scanner but its loading files have been deleted? what then?
