Why is there now a horrendous racket produced by the computer whenever it browses KMC forums?

uhh not for me

if it's an ad, see which one it is and PM raz about it

i haven't noticed anything.

Could be the ad advertising ring tones and sound FX.

my KMC is quiet!

I don't hear any sounds on KMC... Are you sure its the KMC browser/ad which does the noise, not any other pop up etc..

I've noticed this as well, certain pop ups and adds like the Ipod skiing one at the top of the screen do it. ( I HATE EM ALL, but this one especially) play a music. I rarely notice because my sounds off but it makes my comp run slower...

NOT SO MANY ADDS RAZ the pop ups and the ones at the top of the screen are drivig me nuts.

Why in the world do we have ads in the first place? I don't remember these when I was on a while ago. What happened?

we've always had adds just now they make it annoying

What exactly does this "racket" sound like? Is it coming from your speakers or from your PC box?

If you're on Firefox there is Ad-Block, which lets me stay away from ads, meaning Raz ain't gonna profit off of me.

unfortunately adblocks stuffup sometimes and blocks other things, like flash. it prevents it from working.

I'm on Firefox 1.5 Beta and it works like a dream.

Even if your on IE you can use antivirus programs to block a certain web address, so block the pop-ups URL.

You don't see it because it's random whenever you see ads on KMC. I'm sure there are people that will never see it.

Halloween is a holiday, therefore everyone makes a big hype out of it. Just like Christmas and Easter.

Hope so, I had him randomly come up last night when I had Adblock turned off (for some reason it also blocks Flash, any videos that are embedded in a page, etc...)

Weird, I've actually had that ad when I was viewing KMC with Adblock off and also when I was viewing KMC in IE...didn't make any sounds for me and I had my speakers on.

Jeez, buy Norton's. No ad's.

hmmmm, I didnt have anything else open while viewing this thread either. This thing DOES go away on its own, which is kind of odd too. For the record Ive swept this computer with 2 different programs for spyware and done a virus scan.

Oh how true it is. I used to use IE, and now I refuse to touch it. FF is the way to go man, trust me.

I am having the same problem. It doesn't happen every time I am on KMC but ALOT of the time. This is the only site it happens on. I have don't get popups, but on here I get the slide in ad.

I ran both Adware and spyware checks and cleaned everything up, but I am still getting them. It is super annoying.

I've found the "zap the mosquito and WIN" ad to be particularily annoying. It sounds like a fly crawled up inside my speakers. That may be the one you're referring to.

I get an add for the new XBox 360... a womans voice tells me Ive won... I just click to close the add but it is only here at KMC that it comes up.

Every time I log into KMC, without fail, I get the same popup.

I use AdBlock, but I do have some problems when viewing certain embedded videos on different sites, can't think of specifics right now. Basically the AdBlock appears to block them completely. The videos sort of flash up for a second and then I'm left with a blank screen and 'Done' in the status bar. I've tried to adjust the settings but I'm not sure how and I'm pretty satisfied with the way it works in all other respects.

If anyone can help me out, it'd be much appreciated

Personally I say switch to AdBlock Plus, it is so much more customizable and will only block the Flash (embedded videos) that you specify. Also you can click your scroll wheel to turn it on or off so if you did block an embedded video on accident and can't figure out how to fix it, turn AdBlock off, refresh the page and enjoy.

Personally I've had nothing but problems with Adblock Plus - it blocked absolutely everything on a page when I tried to block one thing, and it'd also cause FF to freeze and stuff.
