I've just read this in a National Geographic.
In a controlled environment of Binobo chimpanzees, a stack of sugarcane was set out. Observers watched.
The big, tough males go in, and grab whatever they can.
The big tough females go in, and grab whatever they can.
So then the big toughies have all of the sugarcane, right? But then several small females offer to copulate(do the nasty) with the tough males. After the males are done, the females break away and grab a fair share of the male's sugarcane.
Figures. Sounds like the idea of prostitudes, doesn't it?
