Now that the Star Wars Saga is over, George Lucas is still going to make movies.

Lucas is already planning his next big screen adventure, to be called RED TAILS.

He says, "(Red Tails is) about African-American fighter pilots during World War II. They were escort fighters and the only fighter unit during the war that never lost a bomber. So they were the best."

The trailer

yep a lucasfilm movie thats not a Star wars of Indiana Jones movie.

Lord Lucien
That movie is a direct response from Lucas to all those claims of racism in the Star Wars prequels.

Lol--"I'm the best pilot in the whole damn Army."

Esau Cairn
Would've been better if it was a squadron of Wookiees!

Kazenji
7 mins of Red Tails and also a quote Lucas said

Look allright, bit run of the mill though.

Patient_Leech
Just thought it should be clarified that George Lucas didn't direct this. He helped write it apparently. But I'm sure we can still expect to see gophers..

Robtard
So it's basically a remake of Tuskegee Airmen(1995), except with goofy lines and what will likely be great CGI.

Sadako of Girth
Just saw this trailer....yeah it does look visually bang on it.

You can't remake something that's a true story. That's like saying Saving Private Ryan is a remake of The Longest Day.

It's the same story, remade, so it's essentially a remake. What does it matter if it's based on factual events?

Saving Private Ryan was 99% fictional. Great film though.

Not from that trailer...Didn't look any more impressive than the CGI from an average video game.

Sadako of Girth
I liked some of those wide shots.

Some of that dialogue delivery looked sub independance day in chessiness.

Looked alright; but I was saying that based on George being involved and therefore ILM.

RE: Blaxican
Movie looks like shit.

I'm going to see it anyway though, with my sister, because there is indeed a shortage of competent black actors in Hollywood right now (Sammy J, Denzel Washington, Danny Glover and Morgan Freeman can't do every role), and if movies like this do indeed do well enough then it draws attention to new talent. Which is a good thing.

Patient_Leech
Don't forget Will Smiff and Jamie Foxx! Both extremely talented.

It will depend on the characters/talent, though. I think the special effects look really good from the trailer, cuz like Robtard pointed out, ILM does impressive work. But the special effects won't carry the film alone.

RE: Blaxican
As well as Don Cheadle, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Terrance Howard. What do all these cats have in common though? They're all in their fourties and older. We can't depend on them forever, lol. That leaves like... Tyrese, Michael Jae White, Idris Alba, that black dude from Blood Diamond, a couple part-timers like Mos Def and Ludacris... the future is not bright for black actors. It's even more dreary for women.

And yeah, I agree with you; the movie doesn't look all that good. I'll support it anyway though.

BruceSkywalker
will not be watching a movie on the tuskegee airmen

Kazenji
Why not?

Someone's obviously not seen 'Blood and Bone'.

The first trailer was posted online last summer.

It's just their version of events with the Tuskegee Airmen. We shouldn't throw it in with the other remakes Hollywood keeps churning out, which warrants our criticism because of the high number of them.

Patient_Leech
Don't forget Laurence Fishburne.. he's f#cking awesome (and getting up there in age). sad

RE: Blaxican
Oh yeah, forgot about him. He is getting old, yeah. And fat. Really fat.

He let himself go after the matrix. I don't know what happened. I guess your daughter deciding to be a pornstar can do that to you.

Mr Parker
This movie reminds me an awful lot of FlyBoys with the special effects and everything.I LOVED that movie. That movie was awesome.

He should be happy for her... making a living.. or something. confused

RE: Blaxican
So, I went out and saw this movie.

There's a really beautiful white woman in it.

And uh, Ne-Yo, and stuff.

Mr Parker
finally saw this movie this weekend, great film.

Esau Cairn
Considering Lucas copied/ripped off actual aerial footage of dogfights for Star Wars' X-Wing & Tie-Fighter battles....Red Tails isn't that much ground breaking for Lucas.

swill388
George Lucas is a great director. He is directed lots of hit movies.
