I havent found any threads regarding robotics.. but I've found them pretty interesting in recent times.. ASIMO in particular because its the closest an android has come to replicating our movements thus far

Personally I can't wait till in the future all soccer players are replaced by robots. I don't know why, but whenever some robot is on the news, it's playing soccer.

SaTsuJiN
lol.. I think thats because its a dextrous sport, as opposed to either continuously holding the ball in your arms (football) or striking the ball (baseball)... basketball might be too hard because theres alot of hand-eye coordination in terms of guiding the ball (while bouncing it) to your goal

True, true. I find it fascinating the advancements being made in the field of robotics, and I am pleased with the level of publicity the field gets, if only it could become even more of a main stream science it would be even better.

whoa, thats the most amazing thing i have seen all day, maybe even this week.

I love robotics, if i actually had intelgence i would have loved to have taken robotics up at uni, but alas i am dumb, no robotics course for me.

Here are some more robo links, some may be old news, but doesnt make it any less cool!

have a look at these robots from a recent japanese show:

Wow those other bots are neat.. I was wondering if asimo is the most advanced (in terms of attempting to replicate human form).. his vocablulary is impressive too (japanese at least), in terms of understanding and responding to a command

this link has a few vids and some pics of asimo big grin

and on that first link in my original post, there are links at the bottom that show videos of his different aspects like facial recognition, course nagivation, awareness of moving objects and of course his acknowledgement of sound
