gentmax,
Jaws was an 18 when it was first released.
I doubt a 5 year old could get in for an 18.
Unless you developed very early.

When I saw Pee-Wee's Big Adventure in 1985, that scene with the ghost trucker woman "Large Marge" and her demonic claymation face scared the living shit out of me for years!! C'mon, I was like 5 years old! And I'm not the only person to be scared of than damn claymation monster, either!! As I got older I was spooked by movies like The Shining, Poltergeist, and The Changeling.

movie_madhead
When i first seen evil dead i couldn't sleep at all, i think i was about 7. but now i wonder why i was ever scared the movie now is nothing more than a classic to me

OMG! That claymation thing scared the crap out of me too! And years later when I watched the movie again, I was getting ready for that scene (covering my ears and bunched up into a little ball, ready to close my eyes). And when it finally happened, I was like WTF? That wasnt even scary! Lol. But ya. That face freaked me out.

Wizard of Oz was some freaky shit yes

also Edward Scissor Hands. for some reason messed.

Impediment
I'd also have to say that "Jaws" definitely scared the crap outta me. It still does kinda. Then again, it scared a LOT of people.

From Clerks Animated:
Randal (to Dante):
You said the same thing about Jaws when we were kids.

Dante (to Randal):
Because you refused to sit on the toilet!!

Randal:
Sharks swim in water, theres water in my toilet.
I rest my case!

T.M
Jaws never scared me for some reason.

Dagons Blade
I was about 8 years old in 1973 when I saw Night Of The Living Dead at a drive in, and to this date it has been one of my favorite films if not my favorite. Also saw this absolutely lurid Exorcist rip off when i was about 15 called "Beyond The Door" aka The Devil Within Her that STILL scares me to this day.

The film had some seriously chiling possession scenes. Even moreso with the uncut DVD. A lot of people knock that film but it was very effective in a disturbing way.

However, one that REALLY scared me was the Barbara Steele film Nightmare Castle from 1965, that played regularly on a show called Creature Feature when I was a kid. A very twisted tale with a very memorable end scene that puts it high on the list of vengeance from beyond the grave-type films.

Dagons Blade
I wanna add another one to the list.

There was a 1973 film called Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark that is allegedly being remade this year by Ang Lee. The original film premeiered on Saturday night on ABC's Saturday Night Movie. The film revolves around a young couple who have inherited a house, but also it's dark secret, and due to the idiocy of the lady who allows her curiosity to get the better of her, more than just the cat is let out of the bag...ya' gotta see this one. This needs DVD release badly!

Mr Parker
Yeah Jaws for sure.A couple others would be The Omen and The Amityville Horror.

Dagons Blade
Right on Mr. Parker. Amityville Horror got me too:

When that spirit yells GET OUT! that really hit me hard, but what scared me even more was the red eyes glowing outside the window when the little girl told her mom that Jodie was playing with her..THAT was the thing that really flipped me out.

T.M
lol. sorry.

i always thought of Jaws as a big stupid looking shark and i thought that something that looked as stupid as that couldn't cause much harm.

obviously i didnt think it like that when i was a kid lol.

when i was a kid i thought it just looked funny. like Dr. Who.

kmcdude
lol,I do have a fear of sharks though,I dont really know if it was ''jaws'' that triggered it of confused But I know it didn't help

BaronOBeefDip
Jaws scared me when I was little. I mean, it was the shark itself that scared me. It was the thought of drowning that terrified me. In fact, I'm still afraid of drowning (I can't swim very well.).

mine was the Exorcist, Iwas 4 yrs old and that movie scared me for life, but I own the movie. lol. Part 2 was gay , 3 was fair. I rember there was a movie that really put the scare in me . It is an older one. It had these 3 insane guys in it, that escaped from the insane asylum. they went to this carnivalle that was in this town. they killed the clowns and put their make up on. they followed these 3 boys home, which were brothers, 8 to 15. Well these 3 insane guys killed all 3 of these boys and they were never caught. This movie is very creepy. Can anybody tell me what the name of this movie is. I have been looking for it forever.

I wasn't necessarily a KID, per se, but when I was about 15 I watched The Changeling alone at night for the first time and I literally slept with my light on that night. Very scary flick about a haunted house and the very pissed off ghost of a 9 year old boy.

Freaky Zeeky

Potter124
Actually I saw the Shinning when I was 9 and I was afraid of going in to hotels for like a couple of years

XxbrokenxX
Hmmm... For me it would probably be The Shining (The part with the two girls in the hallway) That scared the crap out of me! Ummm..The Exercist..I think that's it. I thought the amityville horror wasn't scary at all, maybe some parts, but if they were, it was probably because they were surprises! I think The Grudge is way scarier anyway.
