Darth Macabre
I think hes Amazingly overrated. I honestly cant stand him. I mean with out his alien technology hes just a a guy whose virtually immortal. In my own hes not that powerful by himself, but with the technology hes quite powerful.

willRules
He is supposed to be amazingly powerfull but i thought it was great when magneto killed him in A.O.A

Movie_Geek_
He is a way over played charterer. The fact that he is some immortal can not be beat guy I think is a little annoying b/c you know in the end they are still going to find a way to kill he.

hotsauce6548
So... what is Apocalypse all about?

Movie_Geek_
HE is a invisible robot from space. I think it was a long time ago that I a little kid when I saw the 90's cartoon but I still remember who he is.

willRules
Apocalypse was found in the Egyptian desert by this guy and was taken to the main city where he grew up to become a strong warrior. He was rejected often because of his unusual appearance. He has made many appearance throughout history especially during the 18th or 19th century when he recruited Nataniel Essex to become Sinister. He was recently killed in an X-men issue where he was bonded with cyclops after the twelve incident. Jean used her powers (i think) to separate them and Cable stabbed him with his Psimitar (spear). However Sinister is still alive and kicking and may eventually pose a bigger threat than Apocalypse (in my opinion).

Movie_Geek_
I hered that magneto killed him.

someone told me...beside the whole AoA storyline had more holes in it than a swiss cheese factory...

1. if Magneto could have destoyed Apocalyspe...why did he do so sooner? why let him take over?
bottomline the writer of AoA got tired of writing Apocalypse as ruler and decided to have Magneto "destroy him" now people believe Magneto is stronger...a few anyway. the thing is AoA is basically a what if type of thing.you can't use that to support any arguements. I mean I heard Iceman once fought Magneto to a standstill..does that make Iceman more power than Magneto? Beside the who AoA thing is like 11 years old...let it go..I beg of you all from the bottom of my mind heart and soul to let it go. sad

Apocalypse is overrated stick out tongue he's not even a true external. Without his Celestial tech he would have died a long time ago laughing
J/k Apoc's ok but he's overhyped sometimes.

Ugly old Cassandra Nova would tear him to shreds imo big grin

about the bio armor....he's stronger with it but he's strong without too.

Marvelgeek
He is overhyped sometimes, but that doesn't mean he's a pushover. He's great! And seriously what fun is a villain that cant under any circumstances be beaten?

Well Mainstream, remember for who Rama-Tut went into the past and Rama Tut was from future so I think he probably knew about every mutant, but he still went for Apocalypse, why he didn't go for Magneto or Xavier..., because Apocalypse is power.

Bio armor is part of his body.
But for me Apocalypse from cartoon was far better (far more powerful, more cruel, more evil, he was shown as pure evil and he destroyed whole X-Men with Creed and Bishop in 1 second, literally), he was far better in 90 cartoon than in comics.

Here You Go,

Real Name: En Sabah Nur
Affiliation: None
Previous Affiliations: Dark Riders (Leader), The Four Horsemen (Leader), Alliance of Evil (Employer)
Aliases: The High Lord, Set, Huitzilopochtli, Sauru
Relatives: Baal (foster father, deceased) Status: Deceased (Cable)
Alternate-X Versions: Apocalypse (Age of Apocalypse), Apocalypse (Ages of Apocalypse), Apocalypse (Askani), Apocalypse (Askani), Apocalypse (Mutant X), Apocalypse (X-Men: Evolution), TAS

Codename Etymology: Pronounced ə-pŏk'ə-lĭps' ; A catastrophic end, from the Greek name of The Book of Revelations, the prophetic visions of Saint John concerning the end of the world.

Powers & History: A highly-developed form of shape-shifting, some sort of teleportation, levitation and energy blasts. Following his merging with Cyclops's, Apocalypse also possessed limited control over time and space, as well as optic blasts.

Born 5000 years ago in Egypt, Apocalypse was one of the oldest mutants in the world, an immortal who saw almost the whole of human history unfold. Born with apparent deformities on his face, he was abandoned by his tribe, but saved from death by Baal, leader of the Sandstormers, a group of bandits. Baal somehow recognized that the child had powerful potential, and raised him as his own son. Named En Sabah Nur, the boy grew up to be stronger and smarter than his tribesmen and came to embrace Baal's notion of survival of the fittest. The Pharaoh of that era was actually not Egyptian at all, but a time-traveller named Rama-Tut who hailed from the 30th Century. (Rama-Tut knew that Apocalypse was born in ancient Egypt, and actually traveled back to that time to find him and raise him as his own heir. Rama-Tut would later become known as Kang, and then as Immortus.) Baal and his people had found Rama-Tut when his timeship first crashed in Egypt, and had nursed him back to health, only to be betrayed by him months later, as Rama-Tut led the Egyptian army to slaughter Baal's tribe. On the day of Nur's rite of passage, he and Baal got trapped in a cave, which after a week of wandering led them to Rama-Tut's timeship. Baal told Nur that he believed him to be a conqueror whose coming was foretold in ancient prophecies, and that Nur was destined to overthrow Rama-Tut. While Baal died, Nur's mutancy allowed him to survive, and he emerged a month later and vowed vengeance on Rama-Tut. Nur became a slave to Tut, but during a vision of the god Seth he manifested his powers and was eventually brought to the Pharaoh. Rama-Tut offered to make Nur his heir in exchange for his loyalty, but Nur rejected him. Nur defeated the warlord Ozymandias, and when Rama-Tut was forced back to his time by 20th Century heroes who had time-travelled, Nur began a path of conquest across the globe, leading his army on vicious campaign after campaign, until finally he came to China. There he heard legends of a flying immortal and he went to investigate, theorizing that this legend "different" like himself. Nur ascended a mountain to find the External Saul, then known as Garbha-Hsien. Saul sat watch over a Celestial Ship that had crashed on the mountain long before, but he had never gone in. Nur thought Saul stupod for not accessing the power inherent in that ship, so he knocked Saul out and went in. It is apparent that this event marked Nur's "evolution" into Apocalypse. He stayed in the ship for a few thousand years, learning the secrets of Celestial technology and devising a bio-armor for himself, among other things. This armor appears to be part of his body and can change form, adding mass from some extra-dimensional source to increase in size, among other things. However, some of Nur's original body did still exist as a discrete form inside the armor. Apocalypse had some profound influences on many cultures over the centuries, and was worshipped by many as a god, with different names attached to him in each locale. Over the course of the centuries, Apocalypse has picked those individuals he deemed "strong" and has tested them and rewarded the survivors with power. One such example was the Crusader Bennet du Paris, a companion of the original Black Knight whose latent mutant powers were activated by Apocalypse. Apocalypse named him Exodus and intended for du Paris to serve him, but then imprisoned the French mutant for centuries when he rebelled. Hundreds of years later, Apocalypse awoke from his slumber in 19th century London, and planned to destroy the Royal Family as a first step in subjugating mankind. He found a willing assistant in the grieving Dr. Nathaniel Essex, who traded his humanity to Apocalypse in return for immortality and servitude. Fortunately, the Askani Sisterhood managed to send Cyclops and Phoenix back in time to prevent the assassination, but they could not stop Essex from becoming... Sinister! Sinister worked with Apocalypse for years, although he rebelled and tried to infect his master with a techno-organic virus very early on. Years later, Apocalypse used Sinister's expertise to re-engineer Ahmet Abdol's genes to match those of Havok, enabling Abdol to become The Living Monolith. The Monolith would figure prominently in Nur's later plans. In the present day, Apocalypse first came into contact with the X-folk when he employed the Alliance of Evil to abduct a mutant boy, who died during Apocalypse's experiments. He then recruited The Four Horsemen, one of whom was the former Morlock Plague (Pestilence I, and the other was none other than the Angel (Death I). Angel was in a plane rigged to blow, his wings amputated after being impaled by the Marauders, when Apocalypse offered to save him. Apocalypse used his advanced technology to brainwash Angel and replace his lost wings with techno-organic shape-shifting wings, complete with paralyzing feather blades. Apocalypse also mutated Caliban to replace Angel when he broke his conditioning, and turned him first into Death II, and then into Pestilence II. However, Apocalypse is probably most noted for infecting Nathan Christopher Summers with the techno-organic virus that caused him to be sent to the future to become Cable. The reason for doing this was because he knew that the Summers baby was actually Sinister's bid for an ultimate weapon to be used against his former master. Though Cable survived the virus ensured that Summers would never be able to access his full power and threaten Apocalypse. It should be noted that for that mission Apocalypse used a new team called the Dark Riders, composed of mutants, enhanced humans and Inhumans. Most recently, Apocalypse captured Wolverine and Sabretooth and forced them to fight each other to determine who would become the next Death. Wolverine won, and the adamantium in Sabretooth's body was removed and placed in Logan's. Wolverine was then brainwashed and turned into Death III and sent to fight his former teammates. Interestingly enough, though Apocalypse has antangonized the X-Teams time and again, he once helped the X-Men save Xavier's life by removing a techno-virus that Stryfe had shot into the Professor. As a mutant immortal, Apocalypse is terribly hard to kill. He has been seen to "die" at least twice (both times on the Moon), but always seems to return, thanks to his physiology and various healing chambers he has built across the globe. However, his longevity appears to have taken its toll, as Apocalypse rounded up the legendary Twelve, the most powerful mutants on Earth, and hooked them into a Celestial machine that would transfer his essence into the younger and stronger body of Nate Grey. Fortunately, the Twelve broke free and stopped the transfer, but it cost the life of Cyclops, who took Grey's place. Cyclops was absorbed by Apocalypse, who also seemed to gain control over space and time. However, while Apocalypse tried to trick The Twelve into completing the transfer by taking them to possible futures where they would be forced to fight him, they eventually saw the deception and Apocalypse was forced to flee. Months later, Cyclops reappeared, amnesiac and unknowingly carrying Apocalypse's soul within his body. Apocaylpse was slowly re-writing Cyclops's mind and body from within, though the X-Man was fighting him. Anais, a servant of Apocalypse, tried to get Cyclops to stop fighting her master's will, but in the end, Cable and Phoenix, put on the trail by Ozymandias, stopped her. Unfortunately, Apocalypse used the stress of the battle to advance his absorption of Cyclops, and he fought Cable and Phoenix. Cable couldn't bring himself to kill his father when Scott reasserted control, so Jean used her psychic bond with Cyclops to grab Apocalypse's mind and physically remove his astral form from Cyclops. Then Cable stabbed Apocalypse's astral form with his Psi-Mitar and the High Lord's essence dissipated to the wind. Apparently...

Note: In Cable's original future, the transfer succeeded and Apocalypse ended up controlling the globe for two millennia, switching armor and hosts as his power increased, until Cyclops, Phoenix and Cable stopped the last transfer of his raging essence into the young Stryfe himself, whom Apocalypse had "adopted," thinking him to be the original Summers child, and not a clone.

how long do you think it would take apocalypse calling for sinister to come back? for being such a poccy fan, you really dropped the ball there. sinister DOES NOT work for apocalypse. pretty much every version of sinister hates and despises apocalypse and has been hatching plots left and right to kill him.

and sinister's a much better villain, anyway.

no way dude, hes lazy. hes really really lazy in the animated series. i laugh everytime i watch the last episode of "beyond good and evil."i will list off instances in that episode alone where he was freakin lazy.

1) he is holding magneto in his grip and magneto is helpless, he turns to death, and says "strike him down my horseman." he could have easily killed magneto himself.

2) after fighting magneto and mystique, he is lauched into the axis. the horsemen go and retrieve him eventhough he has shown capabilities in previous episodes to be able to fly.

3) after the horsemen return him, apoc is like 30 feet tall. he begins yelling at magneto, then turns to mr sinister and says "sinister, destroy them." sisnister then tells vertigo to do it for him.

4) he makes a big deal about being the master of time but has his horse men take the time orb to the spot apoc needs it.

5) when biship frees the phychics, thus ruining apocs plans, apoc flies down to get in biships face. after yelling at him, he sends his horsemen after biship. apoc was only like 5 feet away.

6) finally, when cable destroys the fortress in the axis, he sends his horsemen after cable, magneto, and wolverine. while they go after them, apoc just stands there until magneto goes after apoc.

does anyone else out there notice how lazy he really is?

willRules
He was lazy in the twelve storyline. He just stood there and absorbed whatever was in front of him, Nate Grey, Cyclops.....whatever he wanted.......

Bandwidth is the data that's transfered from one computer to another, thats why sigs and avatars are restricted in size, and why there's only so many images allowed per post. Since one of these threads not being read is no different from another thread not being read in this sense, it's not a badwidth issue.

It's more of a presonal taste to the owner of the site. . . some people would rather you didn't make 5,000 threads on the same subject. Others would prefer you don't bump 5,000 year old topics.

im curious, if apocalypse had actually managed to take over the earth and kill all the humans and weaker humans, what would he do? hed have society set up that the weak are killed straight away, so there wouldnt be anything left to do.

so would it just be like the world today but full of super powerd beings? would there be bankers and hairdressers and all that? would they all just sit around and play nintento? would apocalypse just keep raising the bar on his definition of strong so more and more of the survivors are executed and there are only a handful left alive? basically, i want to know what his ideal world is. the weak are dead, the strong rule, then what?

i think hed probably keep enough humans for all the ones he considers stong can live with a bunch of slaves while being constantly tested to make sure they were fit to survive. the stronger you are the more slaves you get. but then hed keep an eye on them all to make sure none of them get too strong. has he actually ever said his ultimate goals, or is it just his "kill the weak" rhetoric all hes got?

Disappear
that's the big problem with being a world-conqueror. once you get there, there's nothing left.

at the end of the AoA, poccy seemed content to bail on his dying planet and use the m'kraan crystal to spread his darwinist doctrine across the countless other earths he could access. likely, apocalypse enjoys culling the weak much more than he enjoys living amongst the strong, and would have jumped from earth to earth to earth after his rule became uncontested, just for the pleasure of starting over.

Thats why Apocalypse and his plans are essentially flawed. Magneto's mutant supremacy belief only holds out until the next stage in Mutant evoloution comes along. therefore the best option is Xaviers dream of co-existence.............

you are correct, if i were a mutant i would totally join in his hippy ass group cause it makes since in the long run. if mutants like magneto and apocalypse had their way, everyone will ultimately be doomed cause they are flawed.

if he kills most people and leaves himself with a few, then there will be no stronger generation. he believes love is weakness and would kill someone and declare them weak, so no making love and no new people. he will eventually be have his entire world killed cause he is crazy and would be left with only ones as strong or almost as strong like hulk or juggernaut.

Any1 knows how tough Apocalypse's armor really is? In X-Factor 68, his armor seems to be very durable(no damages/scratches) while taking attacks from X-Factor and Inhumans(including Black Bolt). However in Black Panther 7, a whisper from Black Bolt will blow Apocalypse's ass up.... That doesnt make sense to me unless the difference is due to the writers' interpretations.

It depend on how he is written, it can be really, really durable, or not.

LordKaos
does he even have his original mutant power considering he has to body swap every hundered years or whatever? it seems the only mutant power he would have, would be the power of the mutant who he took over at the time, meaning in the end he is just a glorified ironman

I definitely think that Marvel didn't do Apocalypse justice in the comics (not X-Factor though). Apocalypse in the early days(X-Factor) displays some melee combats with lots of shape-shifting abilities and teleportations. However, that "combat" version Apocalypse suddenly just died and Apocalypse got owned by X-Men and other characters. The recent Apocalypse just never uses his shape-shifting skills right at all. I really hope that Marvel will give some honor back to Apocalypse next year 2006 when he comes back to the X-Men world. big grin

yes soon Apocalypse shall walk among mortal men once again!

supreme_being
Well he has been introduced into the ultimate marvel universe, as he appeared to Mr. sinsiter and told him what to do, then he told Big MR S to kill himself, but he aint dead he is jail! with deathstrike haha, here i saw a thread of dazzlerdying by deathstrike in prison with sinister hahaha! and Apocalypse is much better when he fights, like i mean i hope the dont make him the kind of guy who stands back and does nothing in ultimate x-men!

8bitChris
He'll be back in regular X-men too.

Cable and Deadpool with have a prelude to his return and then in X-men 182 you better start debating which of the muties left on earth will be used as horsemen. I'm thinking Lorna or Bobby right now. Maybe Warren again since he is losing his wings...

Apoc2: no I will destoy you!

Apocalypse is an example of a brilliant concept that's been too overplayed recently. People would take him much more seriously as a threat if he only showed up, brought the heroes to the absolute brink of defeat, and then was defeated and that was it. Using him again and again, it diminishes the threat and seriousness he represents.

less is more.

I concur, really over rated, same ol, same ol stuff. Survival of the fittest, then what?????

The guys seems to always lose people working for him: Hulk, Wolverine, Archangel, Caban, Sinister, Tyler, Stryfe etc.

The only thing I like about this guy is his suit and it stops there.

I really don't get the dracula vs apocalypse comic. I mean apocalypse should be able to make any part of his body shapeshift into wooden stacks or spikes. He should also be able to shapeshift his hands into UV-ray guns(given he's shaped it into ray guns, flame-throwers, mechanical saws, etc.). So how exactly is Dracula suppose to be any form of challenge to him?

In the appearances he made in the first 50 x-factor, he seems to shape-shift primarily his arms, I think they may've been intended by the writer to aid him with shape shifting early on.

PS Apoc rules, and I'm glad they're bringing him back.
