I'm celebrating on Tuesday because of a number of things that came up, but...

My parents keep haranguing me about what I want for my birthday. I have no clue. And they have no clue. I don't know what I want.

My mom asked me if I just wanted money or a gift card.

NO. Money is a bad gift from your parents. Relatives, it's okay. Otherwise, I think it is a terrible gift. Gift cards are a little better--since then one knows that one's parents know things that one likes--but still, I don't want to feel guilty. Either I'll look at the amount and think, "Gee, thanks a lot for the 'generous' gift," and feel guilty for being a selfish prick who doesn't deserve a present, or I'll look at the amount and think, "Wow, I can't believe they gave me this much." Then I'll feel guilty for spending it.

Oy.

Any suggestions about what I should request?

I already went there--it was so cool. If I were really rich, I would go and buy a ton of souvenirs (the dragons and swords are so cool).

Because the United States has different spelling rules than the United Kingdom.

So what's wrong to you is right to me (HOORAY! WE LOVE THE TOLERANCE!).

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm not really into DVDs/show series (unless, of course, it's Family Guy).

HimoKun
then tell them to get you family guy! Unless you already have it......

fanny_adams
its your birthday key word there YOUR...
so if someone gets you a great gift you should not feel guilty...
and if someone gets you a "sh*t house" gift then smile and nod and say"I LOVE IT SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH"...
oh and next year prepare in advance have a look around before hand and find something you like...
and i know you will feel guilty for telling your olds what you want...
but just think how bad they feel getting you something you dont like...
and no matter how good your acting is everyone knows when they get you a "sh*t house" prezzy...

Happy B-Day

If you don't want the money, but they are determined to give it, you could all ways ask them to donate it to a charity. Many of the larger ones do things like that, it's an different form of gift, popular around Christmas and on Birthdays. And they give a little card saying what the moneys done etc.
