ok, so having finished the book, im a little confused. just who is R.A.B, who supposedly knows about voldemort splitting his soul and the location of the locket, anyone have any ideas as to who this person could be? and how they got the knowledge of the horcruxes??

Regulus Black, we assume his middle initial to be A.

Remember the first line starts with " To The Dark Lord".
Only his servants called him that.

And we remember Sirius to say that "Stupid idiot, he joined the Death Eaters, but backed out once he was told to do something."

It's probably Regulus Black, who would know about this because he was in Voldemorts inner circle once but escaped even for just a short time.

I'm not sure he was in the inner circle though....he wasn't important enough apparently to be killed by Voldemort himself.

Well if that's true then he wouldn't have been able to find out and destroy the Horcrux. Remember, even Dumbledore got his hand shredded when he tried to defeat one. There's a lot more to Regulus than we know.
