In the scene where Anakin goes to the Jedi Temple and is about to wipe out the younglings with his saber, the kid who comes forth says, "Master Skywalker, there are too many of them..." or something to that effect. But Anakin has not been granted the title of Master by the council. So why does the kid say this? Or is it just a respect thing, that all younglings call any Jedi who is older "Master"?

Ast Rofan
Just jedi respect....

Same with QGJ in E1 and Obi in E2, jedi refer to eachother as master.

Captain REX
Respect thing, I suppose; not all Jedi refer to one another as Master.

Hopefuls, Younglings, and Padawans all refer upwards to Knights and Masters as 'Master.'

Knights refer to Masters as 'Master.'

Masters refer to other Masters as 'Master.'

Tulak Hord
Rex refers to me as "Master" stick out tongue

Captain REX
And you refer to me as "Supreme Overlord of the Galaxy," so hah! stick out tongue

Tulak Hord
OH yeah? Well, you refer to me as Lord, so Hah hah! stick out tongue

Captain REX
Nope, can't change that now, Master! stick out tongue

Tulak Hord
HAH HAH HAH! You DO call me master! And Padme calls me master sometimes too..*Koff*

matreid
And you can all refer to me as Emperor Matreid.

I will now reorganize this board to the first ever Galactic Empire!!!!

Muahahahahahha!!! no expression

Tulak Hord
Except, this time, there is no thunderous applause.

matreid
Dang. I suck.

SithHappens
Respect.

mossman
It is a term of address between any Jedi to a senior Jedi or from a member of Joe Public to a Jedi.
Master Jedi does not = Jedi Master.

xforce
So, 3PO calls Luke "Master Luke" in ANH, doesn't he?
Does his make Luke a Jedi Master?

Tulak Hord
All droids call their owners master. HK-47 for instance. Well, sorry, not every droid. The 4 IG-88 models *Shudders* Killed their masters upon awakening.

Red Superfly
It's a term of respect. Next.

Lord Mader
Respect.

Bicnarok
I noticed that too, what should he have called him "Jedi Anniken" ?
a bet he called him "fooking anniken" when he was about to get chopped up.

Moff jango
R-E-S-P-E-C-T you gottafind out what it means to me. (Or sumthing like that) Lol

ReturnOfUmraan
obi wan is called master in ep 2 when he is a knight as well

WindDancer
Respect my left foot. That kid did not know how to address his superiors. The proper term should have been "Sir Jedi Knight". No wonder Anakin kill him. That'll teach to recognize his superiors.
