No hating on this thread. This is a serious type thread.
The reasons you list validate themselves.
The reasons could be from "He's so cool." to "Well, -insert name- kinda reminds me of myself, or rather what I'd like to be."
Why is this character your favorite?

Mine is Spider-man because he has everyday worries like ourselves. Plus he loses a lotta fights he could easily win. Plus a lot of characters are known for their attacking prowess, wheras Spidey is known for his amazing ability to dodge.
stormfront13
my favorite character is storm because she is a mistake. storm wasn't supposed to happen, but the writers switched her last minute. the original person that was supposed to be storm was an african american woman called black cat
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/stormfront13/bcat.bmp
she was supposed to be like wolverine with greater speed, strength, balance and acrobatic skils like nightcrawler and spidey, but she didn't have the adamantium. at the last minute she was replaced with storm.
Pointinel
mine is...
no it's not wolverine it's cykes... 4 real
why:
-he's the leader... (and im always the leader, ever since i was young.. im always the boss of the crew, no bullshit)
-for all the powers and abilities he possess, still his most valuable asset is the leadership skills and the ability to solve problems... (kinda like me)
-basically he's the second most important mutant person in the face of the planet... and he reps his people to the fullest and carries out their burden
-he gets the girls, you know... them girls everybody likes and drools after, he gets em... them prom-queen type chicks (kinda like me....
former wifey)
-he's THAT NIGGA

I'm rarely in a bad mood, I make horribly irreverant jokes that very few (if any) laugh at with regularity...but they amuse me so I continue to do it, and I always have "Some Big Plan" brewing in my head about anything from normal life matters to stupid stuff (I have a plethora of horribly amusing, but usually unsuccessful, ways to pick up girls), and thus my favorite character is The Tick. He's hilarious, good-natured, and despite having the IQ of his namesake he manages to pull out win after win.
Spidey comes in a close second. Atrociously bad luck, sweet powers, even sweeter sense of humor, and two kick-ass movies put him high on my list. Wildstorm's "The Doctor" would be 3rd, but I really don't have a justification...not much in common with a brilliant, enlightened drug addict who likes turning things into flowers.

P.S. FORMER wife, Pointinel? Still got her number? Hehe...
TheFlash
Well, as you can probably guess mine's is the one and only (well there are more than one, but you get it), The Flash. Why? Well, I'm on my high school track team and it's inspiration. It also fascinates me that he can run that fast. I mean Supes can fly and Spidey swings on webs, but running is the most basic human action you can do, aside from walking.
Flash is also really strong. I mean mentally and emotionally. And that makes him human. The speed force is always calling to him and tries to bring him back everytime he uses it, but Linda Park (the love of his life) is what keeps him from being sucked into this speedster heaven. I mean, come on, if you had the chance of going to the place of your dreams, a wild fantasy, a heaven, how many things could keep you from going??
I would choose Flash over Supes or Bats or Spidey any day. His powers are awesome and he can do great things with them. I mean, he can travel through time!! Come on now! By the way, I'm talking about my fav. Flash, Wally West, who is the current Flash. If you could go back in time, wouldn't you have the urge to change things, so your present or future would be much brighter? But no. The Flash realizes the consequences and pardoxes of changing time, so he fights it.

Man I loooove toooo many characters here.

Since everyone is saying Spiderman im going to say my 2nd favorite Gambit. He bring sort of a film noir coolness to the Xmen that no other member can supply. He's not a "pure" hero,he thinks stealing from certain people is justified and he would rather deceive a person to gain an upper hand instead of playing fair.Plus he has the coolest looking power of any of the Xmen
Mainstream
Nightwing is one of my favorites. he has a background like Bruce Wayne/Batman. he doesn't let the darkness in his life consume him like Bruce..he knows how to relax. He doesn't push people away like his "father" . He's learned to channel his darkness. He's started out as Robin....he was batman little flunky..then he did the Teen Titans thing...became Nightwing...who many people see as Batman Jr. to some extent he is...and yet he's something more. Batman is a better fighter and Detective...but you gotta remember Grayson was trained by Batman and he started his crimefighting career before Bruce and was younger than Tim Drake when he started...so Dick Grayson has more potential and has proven to Batman, to the world and most importantly himself that he is more than just a sidekick......fo shizzle dizzle wickedph

Wonder Man. Just cuz he's experienced far more than anyone else has (meaning he's been to hell and back, literally) and still always tries to look on the bright side of things. Another reason i like him is that he was one of the founding members of one of my favorite teams ever, the West Coast Avengers. Also, after he became ionic, his strength and all his other attributes were boosted to extreme levels, plkus it gave him the ability to fly. And finally, i like him because as powerful as he is, he is still beatable, which i like, cuz i dont like it when guys are so powerful that their practically invincible.

Cyclops...
First of all i identify with him the most. he's not popular and doesnt try to be, he just gets on with it and does things how he likes. and as leader of the x-men, when it comes down to it, he'd be the one to decide who lives or dies, he makes the tough decisions, and has the conviction to carry them through. That takes more balls than people realise. The guy has been through hell also, with jean continually dying, sending his son to the future just so he wouldnt die. It takes character to keep doing what he does day in day out. and i admire that. wolverine'd get everyone else killed if he tried to do cyclops' job...

Damage
The kid can be a total fruitbag sometimes, but the few appearances that he has (Totaling around 50, 21 in his own series, and ~30 in titans-esque comics) he is usualy a realisticly written character. A teenager who suddenly sets a new track record for the state at practice, finds he accidently demolishes a car in anger, then is attacked in the middle of school by Metallo. The battle ends when he mauls the crap out of Metallo and ends up leveling a huge section of the school, along with Metallo. From there he finds out his parents were just employees of a company that was raising him until his powers surfaced, he gets banned from Atlanta because of the amount of damage he causes the city, and because of him the girl he loves gets killed and he fails to save her because his powers are still fluxing in and out. Later, in the titans, he deals with Arsenal being an overbearing *******, having to deal with such immense amounts of uncontrollable power, the whole Zero Hour predicament where he saves the universe, etc. which, after a brief stint with the titans (Which includes saving the youth of the world from this vampire dude, fighting a group of high-level villains which included gorilla grodd and deathstroke and coming out on top, and some adventures in space with Starfire) he heads off to the indian reservation Arsenal went to for rehab. It's really interesting to read about a KID who's finding out he's bioengineered to be the second most powerful metahuman ever (Behind Superwang, I mean, Superman) and dealing with just the normal teenage bullshit. Plus he blows shit up all the time, which is totaly sweet.
I've got other favorites, but he was the first to come to mind.
Khellendros
Mr. Majestic and Black Bolt are just about tied for me. I always like the regal, borderline haughty type of characters, and I like heroes who consistently kick ass. Neither of these two have many appearances, but when they do step up to the plate, SOMEONE is almost certainly getting Knocked The F*ck Out. And ont he rare occasion they do catch a beating, the other guy knows damn well he was in a fight. Finally, they both undertake tasks that seem way above their power levels without a second though (which may sound strange when talking about Majestic).
On paper, except his scream, Black Bolt really doesn't seem like much of a threat. But he's so damned skilled, and so smart in the use of his powers, that he takes on Superman-level threats and wins with a nearly matchless track record.
Majestic is the same way. When confronted with the knowledge that a Galactus-style thing was coming to devour Earth's solar system, rather than giving in to despair over an enemy he couldn't fight, he used his brains and his will and found a way to protect the Earth. And, as a result, was granted a place among the Abstract entities of the Wildstorm Universe.

The Mighty Thor. For someone who is very strong and powerful, Thor is a filial son to his father Odin. He trys his very best to obey his father even when Odin is the bloodsucking father to Thor 90% of the time. From Thor i learn good stuff, Moralities, self-esteem, truthfulness etc.
In brawling, Thor also holds back alot (a true character of a hero) esp his fight against Destroyer with Terene that was total holdback. I started liking Thor after reading Thor vol 1 #385. I was a Hulk fan back than. The cover page had Hulk and i bought it. But after reading, seeing the way Hulk had to ask Thor to throw mjolnir away and fighting Hulk with bare hands...Man I never remembered Hulk getting this fustrated in my life. I loved that fighting spirit of Thor.
The idea that Thor can be injured is always an interesting one, as if one enters every battle knowing that your hero is going to emerge unscathed, then where's the dramatic tension? How can one worry about a hero when he's shielded from harm?
With this reasons i love Marvel earth's Most Powerful Hero, The Mighty Thor.
