LordSorgo
So, do Jedi get paid to risk their life on the line almost every part of their life? Or are they just peaceful and wholesome enough to do what they do for free?

LordSorgo
Ouch! I mean't to post this in the EU Forum.

Darth Kronos
good point..i would wanna get paid, wouldn't you erm yes

Darth_Glentract

Well Yes! I can imagine being a Jedi isn't easy... And i am sure what the Council and the Masters will teach you is worth more than money, but is that gonna put the food on the table?

Darth_Glentract
The Jedi actually have several billion credits to do with as they please. (Read Rouge Planet)

Practical, you say?

Illustrious
The Jedi are an Order, so I'd imagine it to be like a Monastery. They have the funds at their disposal, but those dedicated to the Order would settle for having all their living expenses (food, shelter, clothing) provided in exchange for monastic services.

Darth_Glentract
But they dont buy important stuff like TV and video games with it. They buy transport with people unfriendly to the Republic and pay double taxes just for fun.(sarcasm)

No no, they really do pay double taxes; why do you think the Republic loves them so much? </sarcasm>

Darth_Glentract
ya, who cares if they protect you as long as they pay double taxes smile

Darth_Janus
Jedi have money at their disposal... (And quite a bit, actually) but when in the field, even most masters are given only a certain amount and told ot make due. Jedi must be practical but unassuming, and if they have to rent a flophouse and eat reprocessed food because they only got 100 credits, so be it.

But Jedi preach nonattachment, so naturally they wouldn't be greedy.

Darth_Glentract
I seem to remember Qui-gon having 20000 credits.

And double rent for that nice Temple they have.

Qui Gon was that loaded?

He did have to fix his ship, and it was escorting the damn QUEEN of Naboo.

I seem to remember him having nothing, because he couldn't buy the engine off of Watto. Anakin had to race for it.

Darth_Glentract
The Credits were no good on Tatooine.

That's because Watto pulled a fast one and resisted his urge for a lot of juicy Republic credits AND a Jedi mind trick.

Darth_Janus
Dude, if Qui had that kinda money, he was hoarding it, the bastard.

Then they can't be that good.

Darth_Glentract
It was an outer rim world ruled by Hutts.

I think the pursestrings can be a bit looser when the Queen and the Chosen One is involved, but that's just a hunch.

Darth_Janus
COuld be. But anyways, the Hutts probably invented the credit, so I would hope they accept it as payment on their worlds...

I mean, the ancient Hutts had an empire that spanned some distance and was primarily run by commerce. Doubtless they invented the credit or its forerunner.

Darth_Glentract
I think they had their own currency and wanted only theirs used on thier worlds.

Darth_Janus
Really? What makes you think so?

Darth_Glentract
It's just a guess.

Darth_Janus
So is mine... lol... We're even.
