ok these are my thought so read:
We see the Jedi enter the Chancellor's chambers, "guns" blazing, ready to take down the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, what they didn't realize is that they have already become the final pawn that Palpatine needed to move to finish his takeover of the Republic and enact his revenge on the Jedi.
From the moment that this battle began, Palpatine was manipulating events to his advantage; moving against the weaker Jedi first taking out each of them in turn, leaving only Mace for him to battle against. Reasoning behind this move - he knew how intense Mace is and how that intensity can translate into a corrupted motive when presented to Anakin, whom he knew was already on the way. A second reason behind this was because of Mace's mastery of lightsaber combat, thus making it more believable that Mace could have beaten Palpatine. A third reason is because of the clear mistrust that Anakin and Mace shared with one another, which Palpatine exploited to his advantage. Finally, Palpatine had been very careful with the words he had used to encourage Anakin along the way, making it more believable that the Jedi and the Sith really weren't all that different.

ok so what if one those factors were missing huh? what he if picked the wrong jedi to take down? what is he said the wrong thing when he went down? he staged it perfectly and put Mace and Anakin's mistrust to the
test and aced it. but what if he messed up?
i think anakin might have been saved
