Halloween, IMO.
actor
thats quite hard.
erm ... ANOES.
ragesRemorse
style goes to Halloween, Technique goes to nightmare, best subject content also goes to Nightmare. I dont think Friday should even be compared to halloween or Nightmare.
MildPossession
Out of the three I enjoy Nightmare on Elm Street the most, it was one of the first horror films(along with Black Christmas) that got me interested in horror films and then finally onto film as a whole and I will always love it for that. Halloween is just a classic also.
FreddyJasonV
ANOES. Just a classic by my standards.
Evil Dead
Nightmare........
Impediment
Halloween by far. Michael Myers was a classic example of The Boogeyman. Krueger and Voorhees are just cliche.
luvsummike85
Of course style cast and overall goes to Halloween. I'v seen them all it never fails i can't wait for the next one

Evil Dead
um.......
How was Pamela Voorhies cliche? I can't think of any other female slashers........or serial killers in cinema off the top of my head.
How was Freddy Krueger cliche? What on earth had you seen before A Nightmare on Elm Street that even closely resembled his character?
Skorn254
Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street. I can't decide.

Ok, ok, ok...........I didn't necessarily mean "cliche", I should have picked a better word. And I also in no way meant ANOES or FT13 are shitty movies. I love these movies and I own the DVD's. What I meant was I like the premise of Halloween/Michael Myers much more, you know the whole "masked-psycho-stalker" angle of the film. When I used the word "cliche" I was referring to the LATTER day NOES/FT13 movies that suck (in my opinion), because of all the stupid one-liners and puns from Freddy, granted those are what make Freddy as he is. Also I got tired of FT13 after about part 3 because of the repetition. Pamela Voorhies and Freddy are not, in any way, as characters, cliche to me.
mutilated_body
i think Friday the 13th, it is more realistic then the others. Although i aint sayin a guy couldnt be possessed by an evil force to kill.

Friday the 13th more realistic than the other 9 installments, or more realistic than "Halloween" and "ANOES"? "Halloween" is about as real as a Horror film can get, and that's why it's such a classic.
Evil Dead
in Halloween..........they mention nothing of an evil force. It's just some nutjob who escaped a mental institution and went on a killing spree........

Up untill the 3rd one "Jason" was actually his mother. It was more feesible till it became an unhealthy franschise..
Haloween though is still more "real" so I'm going to go with that..
Evil Dead
what the stupid shit are you talking about?
beta-wolf_101
yep its a completely possible happenstance. Guy kills sister as a kid, escapes on halloween to find his relatives and put them in the ground next to her. Micheal Myers is the closest betrayal of a purely physcotic killer out there on film. I think really only Silence of the Lambs did a better job but it was exactly about it.
Evil Dead
in the Halloween, there are no relatives. Michael is just killing people because he's a nutjob. Laurie doesn't become his sister until Halloween 2.
mutilated_body
hehe, nice to see responses. If michael aint possessed how the heck does he somehow live through some the stuff that would kill most if not all humans? i mean 6 shots from a revolver. i doubt any of us could live that. and even shot in the eyes in part 2 along with being blown up. maybe its just me aye mates.
BackFire
Nightmare.
Halloween and Friday are both pretty generic in my view....I think Halloween is one of the most over rated horror films out there, that and Exorcist.
Green Skull
nightmare on elm street
Green Skull
Nightmare is good friday is not so bad but halloween was abit hard to understand at the beginning
jayy
Friday The 13th by far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Myers Kicks Ass
HALLOWEEN is far better than both of them
LizzyT123
Out of all those, as the originals, Id go
Nightmare on Elm Street
Halloween
Friday the 13th
All of the sequels to ANOES were all pretty bad. I mean, I liked a few, but the first was the best by far. I also feel the same with Halloween, I really only liked the second one as sequels go. Friday the 13th was really good, but the acting was pretty lame at times, and the sequels were all pretty stupid, imo.
cropsy_is_god
Friday the 13th. Halloween was too slow for me & Freddy movies god i dont know why i have them anymore i cant stand Freddy and the films were alittle over the top. Friday & Halloween were more realistic well the 1st ones were then it went way OTT. I think the fact Jason's mum was the killer was scary as she looks like someone you could see walking down the street. Michael Myers mask annoyed me. Freddy didnt scare me one bit.
redcaped
Michael didn't get shot on his eyes (H2) but on the eyebrows, then the blood blocked his vision to see behind the mask.
cropsy_is_god
What makes Michael Myers so damn invincable. Hes just human or is it the evil voice that makes him unstoppable. If you ask me the makers of halloween films are trying to top Friday the 13th by bringing there killer back so much its a load of piss now.
redcaped
On that night of Halloween the devil selected a child (Michael) to be his messenger of Samhain. Mike is still innocent and still a boy obeying someone. No one has proof of that someone and no one CAN do anything about that someone. Someone moves/observes/works. H20 explains all just when the movie begins, follow it and hear its witness.
Bossman
Friday the 13th wastes the others. Next would be Nightmare. I didn't really like Halloween. I guess it was ok but it was nothing special!
LizzyT123
Eh, NIGHTMARE ON ELMSTREET ALL THE WAY, as far as ORIGINALS go. The rest of those movies were SH*T!!!!!!!!!!!!! then Friday the 13th, then Halloween.

Myers Kicks Ass
halloween by far, it had good acting which the others didnt and i dont think the 1st friday even compares 2 nightmare or halloween sure it was good enough but i think it is highly overrated
Dude_The_Man
Nightmare the first one was by far the creepiest. Let's compare them shall we?
Jason? A slow behemoth who wanders around killing pretty much anyone who is dumb enough to trip on a random branch and then stand still looking around.
Michael? Also a slow monster, but he seems to be better at sneaking up on people. Still he's in permawalk mode.
Freddy? Not only can he kill you in a place that you go to every night. Not only that, but hat makes it so beautiful is you have no choice about meeting him. Everyone has to sleep. Not only that but he is all powerful in his realm. He can do pretty much anything he can think up. Like crawling out of your chest, or reaching out of a TV and yanking you in. He's got so much he can do. Plus the dreamworlds are a lot more creepy then a random stretch of forrest or a hospital etc.
NOES all the way.
cropsy_is_god
Friday the 13th is well the best. It gave us something halloween didn't GORE. ANOES had good gore but the film was shit what has wes craven got with rapists or child's molesters anyway. Michael Myers is nothing more than an adult who takes Halloween to seriously plus what age would he be now he's too old to kill go home grampa.
Pandemoniac
IMO, Nightmare on Elmstreet has the most original concept and killer. I also liked it's storyline, set-up and pace better than Halloween and Friday.
Friday the 13th is my close second in this poll; impressive tension, nice twists and decent kills.
Halloween was ok, but I was a bit disappointed by it. It did not live up to it's premise. The vague background story, lack of variety and sluggishness overruled the good moments and few thrills.
slayer
MY ORDER:
Friday the 13th
Nightmare on ElmStreet
Halloween.
All 3 are amongst my top 30 favourite films though.

jason was born in 1946 making him 60
my order
1.halloween the best movie ever
2.anoes i really liked it
3. friday the 13th was over the top in gore i like movies simple, with little blood or gore
cropsy_is_god
Halloween is not and never has been the best movie ever.

if halloween isnt friday definately isnt. I can only watch friday 1,3 and 4 the rest really suck, anoes is a great movie but imo halloween is far better than them both
halloweens downfall was its sequels but were talking about the originals so halloween wins hands down
cropsy_is_god
I don't remember saying Friday was the best film ever. ANOES certainly isn't the best. If your looking for originals try Hellraiser a good storyline good gore but not to much and awsome make but Halloween is a shit film.
2D_MASTER
Halloween, mikey's them song was fawking awesome!
Myers Kicks Ass
fridays sequels are far better than the original
cking
I wouldn't say that. it actually got worse every movie. it really gets bad until part 5 when the ambulance guy was the fake Jason while the real Jason was truly dead in part four the final chapter. he didn't come back to life until part 6 when tommy threw an iron pole in his chest which a lightening bolt struck him and somehow brought him back to life. before he died in part four he was truly human and had to rely on stealth to kill. unlike when zombie Jason used brute strength to kill and didn't have to hide from people. human Jason had to play hide and seek because he wasn't immortal and couldn't take on more than two people at the same time. Jason was a true stealth killer in the early ones while he turned into a zombie in part 6 and had no need to hide since he is immortal and would kill more than two people at once with ease.
Myers Kicks Ass
come on people the 1st friday had bad direction and bad acting, eventhough i think betsy palmer is a great actress she was terrible in friday. The 3rd 4th and 6th are way better than the original
cking
it was a low budget movie but it had success the year it came out. Betsy palmer did a good job being the first killer in the first one. I thought it was the real Jason in the first one but it was the mom instead. the first movie didn't need good or bad actors, the movie was less of everything and more concentration on mom vorhees instead. the movie was easy to act in and the other characters were non factors because they never did anything productive unlike the later ones they did something. 3 and 4 are on par with the original and 6 lost that stealth killer touch and became more of a slice and dice movie and it was never scary at all.
jason krugger
............... haven't watch any single 'Halloween' movie ever..

cking
well you need to get started.

the first two are the same. the third one has nothing to do with Micheal and I would recommend that you don't watch it. part 4 is almost ten years after Micheal was burned in a fire explosion that put him in a coma and escaped from an ambulance on his way to haddonfield. part five Micheal survives rapid fire power from the police and regular citizens and falls through a well that leads to a river and attacked an old hermit but passed out in a coma for one year until he woke up and killed him and set his way to haddonfield once again. both 4 and 5 is about the little girl that somehow senses Michaels killings and where he is heading next. The only thing I didn't like about both of those movies was the whiny little girl and I think both movies would have been better off without her. curse of Micheal myers I haven't seen but I know the girl gets killed and more about Micheal is known while it was a secret in the movies before. in H20 Micheal goes after Laurie again after 20 years before in a failed attempt to kill her at the hospital. Dr. loomis doesn't appear in this one or the later ones because he died in the curse of Micheal myers and the real life actor died also during the movie set. Halloween: resurrection is about Micheal coming back in and living in the sewers of his old house. also about a TV reality show about this college students investigating his house on live TV.
allofyousuckkk
idk, its between NOES and Halloween,
I'll go with Halloween because I really don't like the humor Freddy tries to put in the movies.
cking
Freddy's humor is pretty stupid and none of the Freddy movies are scary at all.. it shouldn't be in a horror category but a comedy instead.
Wolfie
Well, the first ANOES wasn't very humorous at all. It wasn't until about Part 3 when they tried to make it funny.
cking
yeah it wasn't till the later ones that got really goofy. the most serious I can think of is new nightmare.
Wolfie
New Nightmare was ridiculous in ways they didn't try to be.
allofyousuckkk
really? i saw the first one the other day....im guess i was wrong, well either way, i liked halloween better, although freddy had a much better story
Big Sexy
Nightmare didn't get its comedic tone until 3 but the touch done wasn't bad. I rank 3 right behind one but the humor wasn't strong enough to ruin it. It had only a few laughs that didn't take away from the dark tone. It wasn't until 4 that he becomes the excessive joker that hes known for.
Zilverz
Halloween or Nightmare on Elm ST??? .. that truly is one of the most difficult questions ill have to answer this week.
Stay tuned !!!
JediJim
Im gonna have to go with Halloween. It was a genuinely scary movie when it first came out. Love the musical score as well
fear
Mr Parker
halloween easily.
Wolfie
Yes, the score for Halloween beats the other two.
I still go with ANOES for its originality and creativity.
cking
I'm going for Halloween for it's stealth killing and seriousness.
Myers Kicks Ass
didnt like the 1st friday cuz to me it seemed like a halloween rip-off with more blood, and blood doesnt make a good horror movie. Halloween was scary and anoes had its moments, so imo friday doesnt compare to the others.
