This board seems to have had alot of "USA haters" this year especially. Talking about how bad, selfish,cruel,etc we are! Now that we have had a huge disaster of our own, it will be interesting to see how many other countries come out to "aide" us this time around! The facts are the WE are ALWAYS one of the biggest contributors in aide to other countries in "times of need". I for one say we do way more for other countries than we do for ourselves and its NOT even appreciated or respected!! I am sick of it! Let's see some other country step up for once! How much money do you think will come from other countries into the USA for disaster relief........?????........I bet NOT one measly dollar!

You may give lots of aid, but it is all proportional... you give much less aid per person than most other countries.

Let me give you an example: Let's say you are poor and I am a millionare and this other guy is from the middle class(makes $40,000 a year). I give you $200,000 and the other guys gives you $5000. WHO is HELPING you MORE?? The answer is soooooooo easy for anyone with a BRAIN! Even though the middle class guy gives more proportionally, you will get WAY more out of the $200,000!!! So take your little arguement some where else, where it makes some sense......like "Crazy World"!

In absolute terms the millionaire is helping more. In relative terms the 40k man is helping more.

Relative, SMellative!!! Bottom line , the millionare's money goes MUCH further and THUS helps MORE(the same way that the money that the USA goes further)!! Do you understand the concept of money.... how much is "relative-money" going to buy you?? Maybe you shop in the stores that Britanna owns in "Crazy World"???

The US in terms of % of GNP is the last in the 22 OECD countries - giving 0.16% GNP in official development aid. Up until 2001 Japan was the biggest donor in absolute monetary terms.

lets look at the last big disaster in the world..the tsunami...the biggest aid givers were....drum roll please...germany and australia...who both donated more than double the amount that the US gave...

Yes, the USA gives aid- we all agree that it'd be dreadful if it didn't. But surely, it's be so much better if it gave more in proportion to its wealth?

Both. No one thus far has said anything about "Americans being stupid, lazy, self-centerd pricks" we've corrected incorrect misinformation that Omegaman posted in an aggressive fashion.

Incidentally. Just for the record... I dislike Bush. I dislike his administration. I dislike a lot of the foreign policy.

But I (And I feel I speak here for a lot of us brits) do have a lot of love for the people of America.

It is important to distinguish that the amount of resentment toward Bush doesn't translate to you guys automatically... Besides he screws you guys over too.... Very true, I'd like to see how they'd react to someone like me running this country. I run my own country on an online game. People are free to come and go as they please, it's a very peaceful, serene socialist country. But it's a PURE socialism. 100% tax rates, people are drafted and might I add not trained to save money, infact people bassicaly either work for the military or are farmers and ranchers as I would've wanted. Money go's primarily to healthcare, social security, and other matinance to help MY country. I develop weapons, I do everything as my own little world. Most people even in my region aren't fully aware of what i'm doing, just have a breif idea. Even my close friend Pete who's my most trusted ally and we're both in the United Nations has to ask me every now and again if I'm going to betray them and I assure them no. We're waiting for beta version so we can start world war 666 lol. I don't build nor condone nuclear weapons, that destroys the enviorment far too much and I pride myself in nature.. They however do. (Most of them are capitalist countries..) I DO however build biological weapons though the United Nations passed a treaty to ban them. And they also passed a treat to donate money to less fortunate countries. Peaceful little countries like mine are considerd less fortunate, so I get more money. And I'm still pissed off about them banning me from the forum part so after beta comes out I've gotten friends from the net, real life, everything to support my international terrorist group and we're going to rip them a new one. Omega version lol! I even put up my flag as North Koreia and the quote "the new world is inevitable".

To xmarks.... I NEVER said the USA doesnt want aid.... I am saying we are smart enough to know NOT to expect it!! No, I don't say America has problems, I say that the American government has a problem with aid in its foreign policy. The reason why I don't want a proper job is because I am studying at college. I am perfectrly entitled to enter full-time employment but I chose not to.

I guess that happens when you don't quote to whom you're referring/addressing. I was in fact addressing Spelljammer. In your first post it intiitially seemed as if you were referring to people in the thread however you were not. Spelljammer has been referring to people in the thread.

I dont hate to say, but the American government and their sheer arrogance is disgusting at times.

Even with all their 'infrastrcture" and money, I am simply astonished at the snail pace the relief efforts is taking in New Orleans. They got of the starting line about 3 days late.

While this proves that the American government is made up of a bunch of wankers, I am very very very sad for the people in the areas affected by the hurricane. If I were in that part of the world, I would have been there since Tuesday to help out.

In Fact the American people, should use this long weekend to open their hearts and roll up their sleeves to help with the refugee crisis that is now ensuing.

IT is a fact ... its popular to hate America right now,so how am I not right on that point. PVS, you missed the whole point of the post which I have yet to be proven wrong about! My point was that we are not appreciated for all the aid we give! And that now that we are in need, NO countries will give back to us like we have given! Omegaman, if you really think the whole world hates Americans, you need to get out more and get a breath of reality.

I am an American. I have MANY friends from other countries. I have yet to meet a single person who hates Americans. I've met many people that dislike our president and current administration, and who dislike our foreign policy....but guess what. Many AMERICANS don't like our current administration and foreign policy.

The reason we haven't gotten any aid from other countries is because Bush REFUSES to ask for it. He says he doesn't want any. He seems to think that asking for help with something that is in reality beyond our ability to handle on our own would make us seem weak. Believe me, other countries would come to our help if Bush would let them. I know many people from other countries who've been privately donating to Red Cross. It's our government's fault we're not getting any foreign aid, not the fault of any foreign governments.

Not a single person in this thread has said anything anti-Americans or anything hatemongering in the least.

He's smart, we don't need foreighn countries holding it over our head like some kind of mafia syndicate..

If you showed me a petition to send over British troops to help right now and have them come in rescuing the injured/in peril, assisting clearing debris/damage etc then I'd sign it in a heartbeat.
