I just got this email at total random... I'm not sure if anyone should care or not... just read it and decide for yourself.

"This is a call to action !!

What can we on the yahoo survival groups do to help
others prepare for the coming energy crisis ?

First we must get ourselves in gear and prepare for a
bug-in. (This is not a drill, this is a real national
crisis unfolding unlike any before)
At the same time, we can do our part by spreading the
word.
Call your local emergency management officals and ask
them to take action now !! (if they won't then call up
the radio yourself)
Tell them to get on the TV and on the radio and spread
the word that EVERYONE must conserve gasoline.
EVERYONE must stock up of food and water, we may even
have another hurricane headed our way !!
If we all pull together, and all go easy on what
gasoline that is currently left, we as a nation can
get through this shortage, and the largest national
emergency of our nations history.

Right now, we as a nation are fixated on the suffering
and events unfolding in New Orleans and the rest of
the Golf coast. It hasn't yet sunk in yet that this is
a NATIONAL CRISIS !! Think about it folks, we just
lost 40% of our ablity to make gasoline. The price of
gas has doubled in one day and is expected to go up
and up. We have only three gas stations in the town
nearest me in West Virginia, one has already run out
of gas, and they have no clue when the next load is
coming or where it's coming from. When the other two
gas stations run out, thats it.

IF WE DO NOT TAKE ACTION NOW, there could be martial
law in every major American city with in the next
month or two due to fuel riots. This is not a game !,
This IS THE TIME TO SOUND THE ALARM NOW !!, So that we
can prevent fuel riots, death and quite possibly the
total break down of America.

Looks like panic mongering to me...

I live in Wisconsin and our gas prices are high but we don't even get our gas from the south. Ours comes from Canada. This is an example of price gouging.

I know it does sound like panic, but he has a point about losing so much of our gas production.

Yes he does have a point but I doubt that it will result in national crisis.

Its all hype to justify raising the price of fuel, the oil cartels are getting gready and are using the Hurricane as a reason to make loads of dosh

You still get oil from Kuwait, just not all to appease the gas guzzlers of the USA.

To the thread starter: You mean to say *spam* that you *spam* never *spam* get e-mails *spam* that tell you things *spam* like, 'if everyone *spam* didn't buy gas on September 18th *spam* we will force the *spam* oil companies *spam* to lower their prices!!

At least it doesn't end with a warning about dying if you don't send it to 150 people in 10 minutes. I've never understood those kinds of emails. They must feed on that same mindset that gave rise to christianity.
