let's count how many actions BUSH has taken about this:

1. He Talked and explain what was happening over at New Orleans{
like we did not know}

2. He walked around New Orleans

3. He ummm...... That's about it

BackFire
Don't forget, he probably played golf.

Your thread has nothing to do with days.

I have an emergence supply stock. I have enough food and water to last 3 days. According to everything I've read, it takes the government 3 days to take action on any emergence. Don't rely on the government to do things for you, do it yourself. The government, regardless of rather it's run by democrats of republicans, can not do any better. We need to move from a welfare state to a self-reliant state. Pointing fingers does not help.

I sometimes listen to talk radio and it said that they would pratice just in case something like this would happen, but for Bush to be standing out their and shaking peoples hands is not taking action

We all know that Bush can talk because he won. But i guess he is only talk

Draco69
People don't seem to understand that's not the way the government works. Bush contrary to popular opinion isn't an all-powerful dicatator who can do anything at anytime. He has limits.

The limit on this tragedy was state government. The state government needed to cede for the federal government so the FEMA, National Guard and so forth could come in and help. It's in our constitution. The state government controls the state and anything that happens in the state.

It's all the Governor's fault. She knew it was coming and did NOTHING. She's the Governor. She has the entire friggin state at her disposal. And she did NOTHING. She failed utterly and horribly.

When 9/11 happened, the Mayor of New York and the Govenor did a commendable job of taking care of the damage and aftermath. They IMMEDIATELY ceded for the federal government to come in. Did the Governor of Louisiana do so? No. She failed and I hope she rots in hell.

Where in hell did you get that crap? Do you REALLY think the President of the United States would go GOLFING of all things to do the day after 9/11...with ground zero still a plume of death?

Bush isn't perfect. But please don't exaggerate his misteps or misactions to the point of cartoon animation.

And why is everyone blaming Bush for the hurricane? It's a HURRICANE. He can't control nature.

ok ok about the golfing thing.

But WE do know he completed his vacation while an AMERICAN city was underwater and some towns had vanished.
Then he made a stop of by a friend to sing and eat birthday cake, before heading back to Washington.

Come on, people. He should have found his ass back in Washington Tuesday morning.

After 9/11 he was very serious when making the rounds in NY, this time when he went to the gulfstates, he was there grinning like a monkey.

He has done these things. But for some odd reason the news doesn't show it. Showing famous actors rowing around in boats is more entertaining obviously.

Um. No. The only one to blame is the STATE. People. Jesus Christ. Get through your heads. Anything that happens within a state is the state's responsiblity. Hurricanes included. What the Governor SHOULD have done was ceded to the federal government IMMEDIATELY to come help. What did she do? Send in cops and firefighters. Stupid. She was completely incomptent.

She should have NUMEROUS evacutation procedures and contengicies. But nooooo. She just asked the people to leave under their own power.

Lana
First off, everyone please read this....

http://www.livejournal.com/users/selphish/584955.html

A first-hand account of someone who lives just outside of New Orleans.

Also, please look at this.

http://thinkprogress.org/katrina-timeline/

The governer of Louisiana declared a state of emergency BEFORE Katrina even hit, on Friday the 26th. When Katrina was upgraded to a category 3 the next day, she asked Bush to declare Louisiana a federal state of emergency; this was done and FEMA was given full clearance and authority to respond when the storm hits. This is done days before the hurricane hit.

Please try and get your information straight before flinging around accusations.

One Ring to rule them all,
One Ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all,
And in the darkness bind them,
In the Land of Freedom where His supporters lie.

She should have NUMEROUS evacutation procedures and contengicies. But nooooo. She just asked the people to leave under their own power. As Lana mentioned the State declared a state of emergency was declared. It appears FEMA was free to act. Also note:
"The National Response Plan (NRP) establishes policies, procedures, and mechanisms for proactive Federal response to catastrophic events. A catastrophic event is any natural or manmade incident, including terrorism, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the population, infrastructure, environment, economy, national morale, and/or government functions. A catastrophic event could result in sustained national impacts over a prolonged period of time; almost immediately exceeds resources normally available to State, local, tribal, and private-sector authorities in the impacted area; and significantly interrupts governmental operations and emergency services to such an extent that national security could be threatened. All catastrophic events are Incidents of National Significance."

"Implementation of Proactive Federal Response Protocols
Protocols for proactive Federal response are most likely to be implemented for catastrophic events involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or high-yield explosive weapons of mass destruction, or large magnitude earthquakes or other natural or technological disasters in or near heavily populated areas.

Guiding Principles for Proactive Federal Response
Guiding principles for proactive Federal response include the following:
■ The primary mission is to save lives; protect critical infrastructure, property, and the environment; contain the event; and preserve national security.
■ Standard procedures regarding requests for assistance may be expedited or, under extreme circumstances, suspended in the immediate aftermath of an event of
catastrophic magnitude.
■ Identified Federal response resources will deploy and begin necessary operations as required to commence life-safety activities.
■ Notification and full coordination with States will occur, but the coordination process must not delay or impede the rapid deployment and use of critical resources. States are urged to notify and coordinate with local governments regarding a proactive Federal response.
■ State and local governments are encouraged to conduct collaborative planning with the Federal Government as a part of "steady-state" preparedness for catastrophic incidents."

Foisting the blame solely on the state government is oversimplifying. There's enough blame to go around for everyone...

It was the federal govts fault. Why because the State had all the cops and rescue people in there however they did not have the mass supplies the federal govt should have had because the state had called an emergency way before the storm hits.

Its mostly Fema fault but the State and the city are to blame.

maybe you mean reading "My Pet Goat". I know you might confuse those two as they look so similar, but they are different. and we all knew about the my pet goat thing, but the response to 9/11 was much faster than to that of katrina.

It did say that while Bush was reading, Bush did not know what to do

theres a distinct difference between golf and reading. i dont like bush, but your not making a strong argument for ANYTHING

What the f**k? What are you even talking about? How the fook did you get not believing Katrina happened out of what I said?

i think they're taking what you said to the extreme, as if you said "nothing the media says it true." i think what they ended up saying was more like "hey, watch me make an idiot of myself"

tabby999
and on the news today they reported George W. has finally touched down in Louisiana (sorry if i spelt it wrong). wow, only 2 weeks, what a hero. must have been a big slice of birthday cake he was eating to stop him from getting there in two weeks

How convienient he had those two black girls in the frame during one of his talks... God-damn this guy annoys me.

*Sweet~Revenge*
Bush~ Hey I think I hit a birdie!!!!...........Wait a sec......I did! laughing stick out tongue

i was watching a report with one of the Proffesors who had been prodicting something like this for years. he told them how they could cheaply construct 12 miles of stagered walls that would stop many of the areas totally flooded from seeing a drop of the flood water. they ignored him, built 3 or so miles of normal walls, people lost their homes and in some cases, their lives. hell, one group he went to ignored him, then stocked up on body bags. its sick watching the ineptitude after this horrific event.

I did see that Kayne West thing on Soup! it was fuuny when Mike looked at him strange. Kayne is trying to get more people to buy his CD{ Some of he's music is good}. Also Kayne is an High Drop-Out so why should we listen to a High School Drop- Out?

ElectricBugaloo
they spent more money on army corps projects in Lousiana than all states but Florida ($1.9 Billion total in Lousiana). Of that, less than $20 million has gone to the levees that protected New Orleans.

The group that disburses the funds is a Republican from my own state of New Mexico, Mr Pete Domenici. Ouch.

I don't.

We should listen to him, not because he's a high school drop out, but because he was in a position to express what so many people were thinking. Besides, beng a high school drop out shouldn't effect the way he's thought of by his fellow citizens. Perhaps his opinion should be considered BECAUSE he's a high school drop out...in a country where these recent events have put a spot light on the black underclass and their struggle to be accepted as equals.

Besides, people who live in glass houses and didn't pay attention in class, shouldn't throw stones.

It's not my proof. It was the musicians. Besides, you wanted to say that his point was invalid based on his lack of a high school diploma.

GreenFist
Yeah 50/50 he is a high drop out and he has no proof, don't get me wrong i love kayne west songs

tabby999
well george w. has put texas and louisiana (i think, i missed the name of the second state) on alert as another hurricane bears down on america. i notice his reaction is a damn sight quicker when its hitting closer to home. "new orleans... dont know anyone there....TEXAS! HOLY SHIT! BATTEN THE HATCHES!"

On the SBS news shown here it certainly looked true, terrible. Still shocking, thinking something like that could happen, then things could go so wrong. Even worse to think that people were saying that it could happen years ago, and that a simple thing like new levee's could potential have saved so many lives. Why oh why does nobody listen to experts?sad

And while perhaps it's not true that he doesn't like black people one gets the distinct impression that they are considerably lower on the list of priorities then other more... affluent members of U.S. society.

Not really surprising, if anything bad happened there he might have to spend more time in the White House working then at his ranch doing what ever it is he does there, like riding horses, fighting Indians, robbing banks and all that jazz.

So, you don't know he's a high-school drop out? I simply took your words as fact. But, you just invalidate everything you've been saying if you made the assumption that he was a high-school drop out. How George Bush of you. Who's racist?

Because of assuming the singer is a high-school dropout, GreenFist is racist?

How...PVS of you.

I would say more stereotypical than racist, but *AHEM*...

When did he do that?

He said that this singer, whose name escapes me, was a high school drop-out. So, I took it as fact, and said that his opinion should be considered simply because he was standing in front of the country and got to speak his mind. And that, since he was a high school drop-out, he might have had a perspective on the situation that we couldn't fully appreciate. Then, he said that there was a 50/50 chance he was a high school drop-out. To me, that implies that he didn't know for certain the singer was a high school drop-out. Which, is racist to me, since it was an assumption made based on him being black. And if it wasn't made on him being black, then what was it based on? The fact that he didn't like Bush?

And fece, stereotyping is a form of racism.

I know about the stereotyping being racism, you missed what I was going for.

I don't know what made him assume that Kayne was a drop-out.

a completely valid and downright elementary point which shall remain ignored.

:edit: oh but in the previous post he acknowledges the concept, but will continue in refusing to make the simple leap (well, baby step) in logic and realise he made an assumption based on a racist steriotype: black people are high school dropouts

you guys should try to prove that the hurricane was a terrorist activity... He would have sooo many troops there sooooo quick....

Imperial_Samura
Yeah, if that were the case we would probably be hearing about the invasion of Katrinastan (to bring freedom and death) any day now.

tabby999
"we are sure that in the sky the hurricane has weapons of mass destructuion. they have been sponsored by Iraq, afganistan and North Korea. they can stike at any time. we must invade the sky and liberate the clouds!"

Imperial_Samura
Lol. I can just imagine Bush trying to land on an aircraft carrier in the middle of a hurricane to celebrate another *successful* mission accomplished by deposing of that tyrant we all call mother nature.

I just read the Threa Title from the main Page and Immidiatly thought that "How_Many _Days Does it take _ for George Dubbay_ Bush To Send For Help 1 -2 -3 -4- ...." Would make a good children's ryhm thing for skipping Rope.

then they'd find Katrina in a spider hole in the middle of the dessert, huddled in its underwear.

manny321
I pissed by a editorial in the paper. it says we should stop yelling at bush now because he handled Rita properly.

My words are that..
1. Its Texas of course he wouldn't dare
2. He messed up good the first time, i highly doubt he would again if ever wants a chance in the 2006 election.

KILLBILLFREAK
u mean 2008?

manny321
that 2006 congress elections. That happened in 2002 remember??
