In the Silence of the Lambs when Starling goes back to Lectur the room is dark and she is siting on the Floor well the Bin opens and she looks inside. She finds a towel. But when the lights come on he siting all the way in the back of his Cell.

That was supposed to be the creep part about him, he was quick and stealth. Combine that with his intellgence Dr.Lecter is almost a perfect killer, his only draw back is his arrogance and need to feel superior to people.

Or maybe he did it telepathically

Uh, Hannibal's just a regular guy who happens to be a cannibal and a genius. He doesn't have any special powers. It's his intellect and dangerous reputation that makes him such a terrifying...yet fascinating villain.
