What if:
Mordor attacked Rohan and Isengard attacked Gondor?
If Faramir joined the Fellowship and Boromir stayed?
If Saruman stayed good and Gandalf turned evil?
DanielLB
1.Not much-pointless really seeing how Mordor is closer to Gondor and more powerful than Rohan-king of men etc.
2.May not of died. Fellowship bit stronger-fellowship may not have broken up....depends how you look at it

3.Well if Gandalf was evil and Saruman was good then it would b vis versa (Saruman would help the fellowship) etc.
(Quick answers beacuse ive got to get off but i hpe this helps)

What if long-bottom leaf was actually a pipe weed?
Huh, huh did you think about that?

Isengard didn't have the numbers to take on Gondor. not to mention they had no trolls or air units. also the Dunlendings (wild men) would have been exhausted by the time they walked there...
They would have to waltz right past Minas Tirith if they wanted Osgiliath first... so their only option would be to try for Minas Tirith first in which case they just didn't have the rescources.
If Mordor took the north road to Rohan I'm pretty sure They would have nailed them. With Trolls boosting each other up the walls, Nazgul clearing the front wall defences, all the seige weapons smashing the walls, i'm pretty sure the three hundred soldiers defending it would have been owned in under an hour...
that's assuming they even made it to helmsdeep...
They would have no way of knowing they were comming as Mordor would approach from the east, and not passed any of the felloship.
Edoras would get wiped out...

Well, that could go anywhere...
Faramir wouldn't try to take the ring and so the fellowship wouldn't have broken. Having a whole bunch of friends rangering around would have come in handy too...
Faramir would not have been so good against the Uruk Hai as Boromir though though... but again the fellowship would have been a tighter unit and Faramir being a closer friend of Gandalfs would possibly have swayed party concensus to avoid Moria...
Boromir staying in Gondor would have kept Denethor in a better frame of mind. More orcs would have died in Osgiliath, and possibly failed to take it (but by the time reinforcements showed up...). The soldiers would have been better organized in Minas Tirith when the Assault finnally came aswell, so that battle would have gone pretty smoothly.

Interesting...
Well, first things first, Isildur would have had a proper burial and his descendants would get to wear the Elessar (which is what was used to denote rank: King of Gondor).
Saruman had spent more time over the years with the Ents and would have rallied them sooner. He would have made Radgast fight. HE wouldn't have used the palantir or allowed Gandalf to take it. He probably would have suspected Gandalfs treachery sooner too.
Gandalf wasn't a necromancer so creating Uruk Hai would have been out of the question (he didn't have the facilities either).
Of course, if gandalf was evil (and wanted the ring for as long as Saruman) he never would have tried to take out Smaug. having Smaug figh along side the forces of Mordor would have certainly changed a few things... but more importantly, he never would have come for bilbo, and therefore bilbo would not have obtained the ring. And it was only because bilbo had obtained the ring that gandalf ever found out that golem had once possesed it.
I'm entirely convinced that Gandalf ever would have found it...
but as Sauron returned to Mordor in spirit he eventually would have spotted golem wearing it while hunting for fish and sent the ringwraiths after him. the ring would have gone straight to Sauron and the best Gandalf could do would be to ask if he could tag along. and help the bad guys... and knowing where the Balrog was would tell Sauron who would have been able to convince him to help out. So the bad guys would have a wizard, a dragon, and a balrog on their side, not to mention Sauron in his full form.
...sorry this post was so long. i guess i had more to say on the subject than i thought...
