Oh I've heard about those technologies.....not good stuff...

Bicnarok

debbiejo
I've heard this kind of technology can also cause earthquakes...

Bardock42
And the Deano award of September 2005 goes toooooooo.........Clovie and her "Yakuza caused the Hurricanes"- Theory .....

It is a shame....the Awards are not the same since the Comitee decided that Deano is not allowed to participate.....

botankus
I heard the Taliban is planning a massive ice age for next year.

debbiejo
blink laughing out loud But there are some really different and strong technologies out there using waves and shifting waves and things...It's been awhile since I've read it though....Even the HAARP program in the Stratosphere kind of stuff..

fini
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sir Nauj

debbiejo
But there are technologies like that.....I don't know if it's responsible for what's going on now though....just I know they exist.

soleran30
Maybe its just time our planet has another big change like it does every so often in history. So even without humans the earth would still have some radical global weather change.

True. Thats why its hard to tell the effects, if any, of global warming. The planets temperature always is going up and down through history, so it going up now wouldnt mean there is global warming

Manmade Climate change didn't cause this. It's just the way things are working out. To try and seek blame from some quarter is very Human- but very wrong.

xmarksthespot
There is data to suggest that warming of oceans (although not necessarily increasing the frequency of hurricanes) would lead to an increase in intensity of hurricanes.

Debs, apparently you are a bit naive to Diva Talk 101.

After all that snapping, you have to follow it up with some sophisticated term like "girlfriend." Then, you'll really be cool.

Mm yeah it was in one of our local newspaper about he weather control devise, its acturly a devise that the sovjet union construceted but the jap mob has bought it, also the Sovjets where working on it in the 70's so now with todays tech its very likely that they got a more powerful one and more controlable

debbiejo
I don't want to die from the volcano!!!!!....No time to run.....OH NOOOO!! eek! huh

I can't believe you haven't heard the volcano warnings yet. They said that huge crater in downtown Detroit is gonna blow one week (Sept. 29th) from today. You had better get out your wetsuit and fins and start battling those Great Lakes!

fini
A volcano? Which one??? All active volcanoes in the US and Alaska are at yellow status or lower. Aint no activity to talk about there.

So try to panic people bout something else!!!!!!!!( that aint earth-science related, otherwise, it will take me less than 2 mins to confirm)

The Earth is simply replenishing itself, get over it people. All these vicous weather occurances are just mother Earth's way of taking a shit and releiving herself..

Well the Tsunami was a historic disaster on a scale we never saw in a generation. It was Like ten disasters in one. So for so many other devastating disasters to happen afterwards, people think something is going on especially because of hurricane Katrina. Katrina caused death and destruction we thought well only see in poor countries. It woke us up and told us major Natural disasters can kill thousands in the rich west as well.

I say were reaching a time were we will se many more devastating natural calamities.

Wel that supervolacno in yellowstone could erupt at any second killing many in the pacafic Northwest. They were talking about it on the Discovery Channel.

manny321
they said on TV for the earth to shift significantly you need a 10-10.5 earthquake. Thats like blowing up a 1 trillion tons of TNT!!! The Tsunami was 9.0 or like blowing up 32 billion tons of TNT. Also they said on TV to blow up a mile wide Asteroid with a nuke, the nuke must be at least 1000 megatons=1 billion TONS!!! THATS LIKE a 8.0 earthquake.

Really shows that as advance as we are, in reality we really can't do much against powers as strong as that!!

No its an idication that people need to leave areas that are vulnerable to mass destruction. Especially when the disaster comes like clock work every July-October

So you are suggesting that people just abandon their homes for a few months every year because a hurricane MIGHT come their way?

Or are you suggesting that coastal regions in the entire US just be abandoned period?

It's not easy for people to just leave their homes. Especially in New Orleans. There is a spirit that you can't find anywhere else in the world. It's a way of life that can't be replaced. There is nowhere else on this planet I would rather be than here in my home even with the destruction all around me. My house didn't flood, but we did sustain wind damage...and we were looted. My parents house flooded and it's been emotionally devestating more than anything to throw away our memories and gut their once beautiful house.

This kind of thing happens...not very often. We rebuild and go on with life. That's how you have to live. Even now...almost 2 months after the hurricane there is still so so much that needs to be fixed. There are still massive piles of debris almost everywhere you look. There is still billboards laying through people's roofs and windows shattered out and stores empty from being looted. In some areas the smell is instantly nauseating. People need jobs and money. We need to get back on our feet and we know that if not this season...next season will bring more destruction and all we worked to repair will be lost again. It doesn't matter to so many of us. This is home. There is nowhere else we want to be.

I heard on the news after the storm that because some areas are now uninhabitable that we should just consider raizing the whole city and rebuild in another area, a safer area. I wanted to b*tch slap the idiot that suggested that. New Orleans is what it is because of where it is and the history that it has. This city has a soul. It has a life of it's own. You have to live here to understand why we would risk enduring these catastophies year after year. It's a part of life here, just as earthquakes are a part of life on the west coast and tornados are a part of life in the heartland of this country. There is nowhere safe. Earth will do what it wants and we have to adapt as best we can.

manny321
True but on Tv they say Katrina is nowhere near the worst type of a hurricane. We have been hit by three cat 5 but they were small and compact. This new breed of storm like Katrina and Rita are very dangerous and deadly. There massive in size by having hurricane winds reaching over 100 miles from the center and tropical force winds over 200 miles. They are also very intense and strong and not moving very rapidly. Small compact storms will cause severe damage in small area but these new large, massive, giant intense hurricanes are really going to cause problems.

Kella
Oh...I'm aware. It doesn't matter. Well, it does matter, but there is no other place that I could call home. New Orleans is where I was born. It is where I was raised and it will be where I die. Whether by hurricane or other forces of nature...this is where I will die.

I know that these new hurricanes are vicious and deadly. I've seen it first hand. They pass though...and we start over. Earthquakes are becoming more viscious and deadly too, but we aren't relocating entire countries are we? You don't know for certain until a day before it actually hits where it plans to make landfall and how strong it will be.
So how can you know what to expect when they say evacuate. That's a problem that caused all of this here. We know that hurricanes turn last minute and that New Orleans tend to miss the brunt of storms. Don't know why...just happens that way. The people who can't afford to leave or who don't want to stay in shelters (and I don't blame them at all) take the chance to ride it out because there are no certainties. Katina shocked a lot of people. I know we should have all heeded the warnings, but when you've lived here all of your life and heard these warnings every month of every hurricane season and nothing happens...you tend to be less cautious.

Now after Katrina...more people may be inclined to leave when they say leave. It's a trial and error situation. If people don't want to leave and take the chance to die in their homes, it's their choice. As for me and my family...we choose to leave, last minute, but we leave. And when it's settled down (but the aftermath is still far from over) we come home. We can't abandon all we've ever known. This is home. It may be destroyed and half dead, but it's home. I can't expalin that any better than that.

Snoopbert
Technically, it is possible to manipulate the weather, and is theoritically possible. However, the energy required to do that is rather high, but hten again, there is a lot of classified things out there from the various different governments.

manny321
Yes but with the increasing ocean temperatures some experts are saying there will be stronger storms then Katrina and there were (rita, Wilma)

So this means if you live in a hurricane zone you should take this seriously and evacuate. So live in New Orleans and have fun but if something comes your way evacuate because believe it or not New Orleans can be hit harder then Katrina.
Its true, New Orleans did not get a 25-30 foot storm surge. If the storm passed to the left of New Orleans, it would have. I am not making this up it was all on TV about hurricanes.
So you all be careful down there. Hurricanes can kill, they don't just blow some air and water around.
