Thor had a really a bad boy image in Asgard that his father Odin had to sent him to Earth to learn humility. Thor before was a battle craze godling.....killing and slugging with Giants, Frost giants, demons of all sort.

Hmm...I was always under the impression that's the reason he was put on earth, he was immature and lacked true understanding of what it is to be a god and how to utilize his powers to the fullest.

i've wondered about that myself.... Thor supposedly broke the cycle of Asgard being destroyed and reborn..... plus he learned all the rune knowledge and is, apparently, asleep at the moment.... not dead as has been stated in other threads

As far as I know there are no plans for a Thor return anytime in 2006. Still just a matter of time though.

I think they are waiting to see if they can get Gaiman on it.

Thor, even classic Thor has a very low record of getting KOed in a Individual fight. I only can remember Mangog knocking him out. Most of the time opponents knowingly or unknowingly use the 1 min revert to mortal weakness....but KOing Thor is/was virtually impossible.

No. It was fall of 1989. Loki, in disguise, convinces several villans to work together and switch adversaries, to deal with their problems. It spread through many titles. Mandarin went after the X-Men, Dr. Doom went after the Punisher etc. And the Red Skull recriuted the Controller, who put one his mind-discs on Namor and sent him after Steve. Fight was in New York harbour and Liberty Island. I have the issue, but not a working scanner!

Mongoose dodged Thor for a while with his speed, but Thor showed his superior speed in the end, and Mongoose retreated. He didn't show any speed. He said his mallet could achieve faster speeds and threw it. No speed feat on Thor's end. He got completely outclassed by a guy Spiderman was tagging.

Running around Thor is hardly winning a fight. Mongoose tried to run away, Thor threw the hammer so accurately it snageed Mongoose's ankle to bring him around.

Ever see the time Nightcrawler was tagging Wolverine by teleporting around him repeatedly, taunting him how he couldn't catch him? Wolvie struck a blow behind him and caught Kurt, had him at his mercy.

Wally West could perhaps run around Superman that fast, but that's not winning a confrontation either.

thor always limited himself to his teammates' levels when he could, but that was only for a few years after that he did not.

he was always at his strongest in his own book.

this is very ironic because as an avenger he was more on earth then he normally was in his own book and according to his mom he is supposed to be at his strongest on earth.........YEAH RIGHT.

These are scans from Thor: Vikings, where Thor takes on Zombie Vikings that are enchanted. Basically, only memebers of the bloodline who cursed the vikings can kill them, and Dr. Strange makes sure that a few of them and Thor can take them on.

When Thor first fought their leader, he broke both of his wrists and nearly took off his own hands with the first hit. Nearly an hour or two later, he's healed, save his pride:

they both did. masterson used living lightning to ko him, thor just basically beat the crap out of him after he stopped seeing him as an ally. (yes, glads got in a speedblitz, but when they both started really going at it thor kicked his arse AND glads even admitted HIMSELF in that issue that thor was too powerful for him.)

Great feats, hit and run. Thor is very all-rounded. He is an excellant combatant blessed with his range attacks from his hammer. I know a few members showed some speed feats of Thor. But how fast is Thor? Speed of Light?

travel speeds can exceed light. he usually just teleports or dimsension travels though. actual combat speeds are a little trickier to gauge. he's had trouble hitting ss, mongoose, spidey and quicksilver in the past, but has shown tremendous speeds as well at various times -- ie in hel, and in battle with adam warlock. pretty inconsistent.

Thor doesn't really need to travel at light speed. He has his hammer just transport him places. Also, he's more of a powerhouse than someone who needs to have super-speed.

what does being a powerhouse have anything to do with it?

It would just seem wierd for Thor, a god of thunder to have super speed. I have a theory about characters and their abilities, sort of how they feel in their lives reflect how they feel about things. Here's an example: Superman feels like he has to be everywhere and do everything for everyone, so he's given a plethora of powers, but he still comes up short. I dunno. Just my theory.

Thor can achieve great speeds during flight, but I would concede he's not a speedster. He seems to get where he needs to go in good enough time; and of course he can teleport between dimensions with mjolnir. That's why his bio stats for speed are so high. But, not as fast in the air as Superman, for the most part.
