Hello all and welcome to the Second Poetry Contest.

Back by popular demand, the following are the basic rules and codes for this contest.

- The theme for this contest is ''joy''. Anything that might fall under this category you can write a poem about.

- The poem has to be no more than 20 lines.

- Obviously, please make sure that you follow the basic KMC rules. Please no obscenity or vulgarity.

- Closing date for this competition is 19th of October 2005, which gives you guys 3 weeks to complete and submit the poem.

- The submission of poems will be done via PM to me. I will then post them anonymously into this thread, so that judges will not know who's written which opem till the final decision has been made, to make the competition fairer.

Remeber guys, the competition will last for 3 weeks, so take your time, as we will be accepting only single entries.

Good luck everyone happy

Love's Happy State!

Snap! Sound the whip from the tormentor%u2019s hand.
The cut stings, the wound deep.
Pain! Felt thunderstruck upon the broken man,
Gritted teeth, deny the weep.

Weep! O' Weep! O' Weep for me no more.
Salt on the wound that bleeds.
Red flows the tears from my pores.
Death make haste and grant my needs.

My earthen grave awaits my mournful coming,
Lonely dreamless sleep is mine.
I grieve the wasted sorrows for no man,
For my state is one sublime!

What benediction read, for one weighed with pity.
Shamed for hearts afoul!
I bleed, I bled .... all for soulless piety.
The cracking whip sings. Stings aloud!

The mind's eye blink with searing pain.
Glorious upon my back!
Lift me! O' child of man once and once again.
To hear once more that godless whip crack!

An Ode In The Key Of Life

Salubrious sobriquet of a lascivious wonder,
Bury my mind in the sand, as I run in fear from thunder,
The sound that cracks, opens, wides,
The sound of terror cast upon our skies.

So stillness disturbed and Paradise Lost,
Your teeth be crook'd and not yet flossed,
Bills to pay and deadlines to meet,
Stomp one and all - poor forgotten feet.

In truth this matters, less - not more,
In truth our beauty lies galore,
From laugh of friend and stranger mend,
In brook and sea, the faces blend.

From Firm foundations based in bygone day,
"Reap what you sow, plough your way",
Take a little from this bless'ed verse,
Some truth lies therein, amongst the curse.

In knowledge, you'll learn, but let imagination lead,
Life is amazing, know it; now breed!
As you two emulsify and unite in glee,
Know now that life is not a cost...but a joy, forever free.

You make me Pure

I am just a word, I am just a sound,
I am just a feeling that you've passed around,
Nothing but a whisper, Naught but a drawn breath,
Happiness is my sister, our enemy is death,
I become useless without laughter,
And pointless without your smiles,
I seem to be what everyone's after,
Especially through their trials.
The three places most can find me,
Happen mostly indirect,
A baby laughing, smiling sweetly,
Finding the peace you don't expect,
And the greatest of all these,
The one that occurs between the two,
Like a sweet cooling summer breeze,
Is when you hear "I love you".

Smile Eternal

Autumn leaves leave the green behind.
Brown is the new green, crunching beneath out feet.
Climbing the trees and picking chestnuts, nostaligia in a moment.
The world around us twists and turns, changes and morphs.
Buildings rise and buildings fall.
I'll always come home to my neon blanket of lights and sounds.
With you, I'll glow amongst them.
Buzzing flourescent in my eyes.
The winter chill licks at our earlobes.
Noses bright red, but we just share a laugh and roll in the snow.
The biting weather is a companion, not an enemy.
It's trapped in time aswell, as we are.
Did you ever hear how happy the rain was that night?
On a craggy rock face we sat, staring out with hopeful eyes.
As moments burn by, we wonder "What does it all mean?"
I'd found my answer on that breezy cliff top.
Summer comes around and you're no longer here.
Still I smile because I feel you in the sun.
Take my place on our hill and watch twilight descend over broken cityscapes.
Times dissolve but happiness resides, and with memory in our eyes, we smile eternal.

The Lady in Black

The lady in black, a twinkle in her eye,
Getting on with her life, no longer does she cry,
At the loss of the one she thought loved her true,
For that unpleasant experience she no longer feels blue.

She can and will find another, of that she is sure,
A new love will eventually bloom, one strong and pure,
Feeling pain over an event she could not command,
Now seems so pointless; no longer does she reprimand.

The man who left her in this very sorry position,
Is missing out on all the things she could give him,
Much comfort, unconditional love, respect, romance,
He did not want them from her, but left on a chance.

She has learned to forgive, and will learn to forget,
From this whole ordeal she will surely learn yet,
Just what things she should and should not do,
She will not lose what she wants this time, too.

Sipping her drink, she sees through the haze,
A tall, dark-haired man trying to catch her gaze,
She smiles back at him, wanting in joy to shout,
That she is worthy of finding love, she now has no doubt.

Let there be hope

In this thoughts of what is now to be know dead,
and all whom I knew to be sad.
Yet my heart does not bleed,
but yet it still beats.
Even when the worse slaps me yet again.
I'd still feel that same before I'd taste any pain.
Knowing they is to much to have at sake,
and we all have such little time.
I'd find a smile even if it rains again.
For not all rain is bad,
and sometimes we just can't see.
Let it rain, Let me bleed
For I know I will still find peace.
