Who the hell is Ronny Barker?

Deano
show some goddamn respect !

Blue Dragon
You've probably heard on the news, but if not, Ronnie Barker, comedian of Porridge, Open all Hours & of course the two Ronnies, has died. sad

A funny person too. I love watching him stutter on OAH. But now, he has gone, but his comedy will go on for many years to come. Goodbye Ronnie.rip

But still very sad...

Capt_Fantastic
I didn't know who he was either. I had to look him up. British comedian. I think this is one of those threads that mainly the British posters will appreciate.

Red Superfly
Americans won't know who he is - they have a hard time fathoming that people outside of America actually exist.

lol j/k

R. I. P. Ronnie Barker.

LEGEND!

Alpha Centauri
Funnily enough, one of the support bands at the gig I just attended decided to dedicate a song to Ronnie Barker.

If he'd known, he'd be turning in his grave. Assuming he's there yet.

Another part of my childhood dies, god bless the man who created Norman Stanley Fletcher.

Yeah, except Ronnie Barker didn't make it obvious he was planning a joke. So it worked.

A preemptive strike so to speak. Gotta love those, does he laugh at his own jokes?

Alpha Centauri
Nah, that's the saving grace I guess. Makes it a bit funnier. It's a weird kind of humour that only me and VVD seem to appreciate. Although we find it funny for a different reason than intended.

I dunno, you'd have to meet him to get it.

-AC

koolruningz
The chances are slim, but oh well.
