Ok... starting today all the teachers in British Columbia are going on strike... so that means that all the kids in BC won't be able to go back to school (minus the ones in private schools) for like 9 days.... maybe even 2 months if they don't get what they want mad

DarkC
I would've been happy if that happened to me.

Sir Mist
That....doesnt sucksmile

It's not cuz if they keep it up for a long time, the grade 11's and 12's get royally f***ed over, what with exams and sh*t....

I mean, don't get me wrong, I like having time off school... just not like this...

DarkC
Oh okay. Don't worry, in the seventh grade the teachers had a strike, predicted it would go on for a month.

It was over in two days.

well if they want smaller class sizes, they'll have to get more teachers...which means less pay confused

yeah i know, i already missed two days of school cause im sick, and now i dont get a chance to catch up! its bad.

tabby999
teachers deserve more money. i've seen teachers, especially high school ones put up with all kinds of shit they dont need, but still, they dont get paid all that well. rage against the machine i say

It's a problem for the grade 11 and 12 students who have to take provincial exams at the end of the semester

Ya Krunk'd Floo
Well, let's see...Teachers have to deal with ignorant, spoilt children like you on a daily basis. They attempt to mould you into a young person who can function in society AND they get paid relatively little for it considering the amount of cash lawyers rake in from profiting from other people's misfortune. Good luck, teachers of Canada...

EsteemedLeader
I get thursday and friday off, um, for some reason...

...what was it again? What the f**k?

BakaXero
hmm...
no one really cared about these things toward the end of my school days.
my year was smart but no one seemed to care.

You mean SOME teachers do that.... others really don't give a **** what the hell we do or if we make something of ourselves

tabby999
so what, theres people like that in any proffesion, atleast the ones that want to make a difference (the majority) can atleast have a little extra in their pay packet at the end of the week

Kosta
That sucks man. The strikes we have in Aus are pretty lame though, the last one we had a couple of month back was like a half day strike, which mean that none of the year 12's actually missed anything cuz on that particular day they only had half a day anyway stick out tongue. So that was pretty pointless.

You know as a Teacher, I should read out the thread, lol , brb

Ah, hmm I think that 2 months is really extreme. AS a student I was happy when they're was strike, cause it meant no school, but now I have a class to teach that has not had a physics teacher for most of last year and I'm worried how to finish up the syllabus in time. They've already agreed to stay back on Mondays for an extra hour and IF teachers plan on going on strike this year, I WONT strike, I'll come to school.

I cant defend all teachers ( some are really in it just for the money). But there are some who put their all into their job. The other physics teacher, spends all her free time at home preparing notes and test papers for her students. I would do that TOO, but with the medication for my hand, I'm really tired and need to sleep a lot so my hand will heal. I came back to work 5 days after the accident( freak) when I was given 2 weeks off.
I'm even holding an extra class for some of my other students who dont have the necessary background to do advanced math.

SO DONT knock teachers so hard man. SOME of us really want you all to do well while some others dont give a f**k.
