I personally LOVE Otep and Fiona Apple what are yours?

Out of those, Fiona and Cristina. I'd vote for Cristina because I prefer her.

A few of my favourites include Lauryn Hill, Sky Edwards (Morcheeba), Beth Gibbons (Portishead), Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Jill Scott, Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star) and Shara Nelson (Massive Attack, Unfinished Sympathy).

Some good choices there.

I was wondering whether by best you mean 'favourite'? Or perhaps most skilled. Or even something else.

Among many I'd say... Josephine Baker, Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez.

Amy Lee from Evanescence is a really good vocalist. She's one of my personal favorites.

Best singer: Feist.
Other personal favorites: Amy Milian (Stars), Emily Haines (Metric), Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Neko Case (New Pornographers)

Celine Dion has an amazing voice.

Michael Jackson is obviously the best female vocalist.

I voted Cristina, but I also like Vanessa Carlton, Shara Nelson from Massive Attack, and the girl from Nightwish is (can't remember her name).

But I think the best is Deana Carter.

None of those are very good IMO, But best would probably be Mariah Carey, She can sing, and nobody has a voice like that.
