I recently went to FunnyjUnk.com and saw this little mind reading game where you pick any two one digit numbers and them together and subtract that number by the original number. Then you get that number, find it on the chart and memorize the symbol next to it.You then click on the crystal ball and the symbole appears every time.I dont understand.

Kosta
It works on probablility and calculation. Pretty cool little trick though.

Cringe
I cant understand how it works like that if you dont enter in anything.I could see if they asked you to write in what numbers you chose or one of the numbers or something but its all in your head when you configure.

Cringe
Here's a link so ya'll dont have to search for it.

It'S pretty easy in fact. If you look at the page again you will se that every possible Calculation has the same Symbol.

For example every Number between 99 and 90 will give you the same Number 81 try it out if you like.
every Number from 89 to 80 will give you 72...it's the exact samme Symbol on the list as 81 ....so it'S just a Mathematical trick....pretty cool though.

You can Test it-....take 81 for Example...every time you try again the Symbol next to 81 will appear.

Same for 9-18-27-36-45-54-63-72

Did you notice that every time you start over, the symbols randomise?

No they don't ...they just change...they do not randomize...you will see they will be the same for alll the Numbers I posted. You tried?

I've done that page before....I thought WOW....then figured it out... cool

Ive seen it before, I was just explaining roughly how it worked. Bardock did a better job though. stick out tongue

Clovie
it is showing nine's symbol, or a symbol of number which numbers can be add into nine
the fact that there are some other, random numbers with the same symbol is just a coincidence.

and I don't know anymore why am I repeating this again cry

but it's just a coincidence that the first few multyplied numbers of 9 can be added to 9 ...though although true is not the reason why it is the way it is......

Ushgarak
Bardock, Clovie is right. 11 is 1 + 1 = 2.

Subtract that from the original number and you get 9.

She is right that the result is always 9.

I will repeat....it'S not

22 > 2+2=4 22-4= 18 .....

Now of course you could go further and do the same with this solution...but the thing is that is just a coincidental thing multiplications of nine have to till 10....

Ther real thing is:

xy > x+y=z xy-z=a

a = 9*n n being a number between 0 and 10

That the sum of this numbers is 9 if only added often enough is in not saying why this calculation works...I am sorry.

Ushgarak
Bardock... dearie me.

18? 1 8 = 9! That is no coincidence.

That's the simplest way of how it works. The answer simply comes down to 9s. They just need to make evry multiple of 9 give the correct symbol because any input you give will end up as one.

Clovie was right and you are being needlessly obtuse.

Holy shit..but that'S why I am saying..all this calculations will come to a MULTIPLIER of 9 ...not 9 itself...are yopu all jsut trying to misunderstand me or what?

Every possible calculation will come to either
9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72 or 81 ....try it for yourself...and since those are multipliers of 9 there som coincidently will be 9 ...

Ushgarak
It's not coincidence at all, though. It is, in fact, the way around that the puzzle is designed Clovie was saying all answers came down to 9 and you said she was wrong and she is not.

Seriously, you've made a right mess out of this issue! I can't believe someone trying to explain it would be so obscure about it. You're certainly no teacher.

What you have failed to spot is that this puzzle actually originated in guessing the number nine. The important point is that they add up to 9, not that they are multipliers. You have it backwards.

jerlark386
I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with Bardock42 on this one.
*sigh
Bardock42 seems to be the only here right who seems to be getting the terms proper.

We'll take 41 for example.

4 1 = 5

41 - 5 = 36

36 NOT 9
36 is multiplier of 9

So, no you can't say ALL the numbers add up to nine.(which is inherently wrong statement) You can say all the two digit numbers, when the digits are added then subtracted from the original number add up to a multiplier of nine. And you will notice that all the other numbers with the correct symbol are also multipliers of nine.

We are NOT being obtuse. We are being precise and correct. Math is'nt forgiving.

Hmm...I have to think aboot it...you are certainly right I am no teacher...at all.....

But I am pretty sure that you can't really argue much mathematically by ussing the sums of a number.....it all comes down to the number nine in the end....but I believe that it is the way it is not because 18 and 27 when added are nine bujt because they are the multiplication of 9.....

Just to add thios, I misunderstood here in the begionning....when I understood what she meant I said she was right to some extend but I do not believe that this is the actual reason whiy thios puzzle works.

Victor Von Doom
Jesus.

Whatever number you select, it asks you to add the digits, then subtract them from the original number.

56: 5+6=11. 56-11=45

The mathematics of this ensures that the answer will always be a multiple of nine.

All the mulitples of nine are represented by a changing, but consistent symbol.

You will always get that symbol.

Bardock42
Yes but the thing is that every multiple of 9 up to 90 if added again is 9....I mean that is right..it'S just not a mathematical explaination.....

That's true, but it doesn't matter for the purposes of this.

Unless they asked you to add the two digits of the new number, in which case they would predict the symbol on the number 9.

We already agreed Clovie...we are just saying this ios not really the reason as to why it works.....

jerlark386
The whole point of the mind reader is to perform the task off adding two digits then subtracting from the original to get a !!!MULTIPLE!!! of 9. Then have all multiples of 9 have the same symbol, so the person not noticing this, actually thinks the crystal ball is reading his/her mind.

Notice, the instructions do not say add two digits from a two digit number then subtract from the original until you get a number that when the digits are added equals nine. It would just be too obvious.

Ofcourse when you repeat the instructions far enough, you get nine

ex.
41
4+1 = 5
41 - 5 = 36
3 + 6 = 9
36 - 9 = 27
2+ 7 = 9
27 - 9 = 18
1 + 8 = 9
18 - 9 = 9
And this is the mathematical heart of the scheme.

But thats not WHY the crystal ball works.
The deception, trickery part of it, is from the multiples.

There is a difference between why and how.

MULTIPLES of nine. Thats the whole point of the game.

End of Story! Done. Discussion is over.

That is true too...but it will also show the Symbol that is next to any multiplier of 9 (excluding 90 and 99)

Yes...it does.

It also is on all the other multiples of 9, up to 81.

These are the different numbers you can land on.

It doesn't ask you to add the last two digits together, which is why 54 is just 54, and not 5+4.

Clovie
but it is not a rule of 54 but a rule of 9s.

Hopefully final post in here:

Each time you load the page, the symbol on 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72 and 81 will be the same.

It might be different each time, but each time, it will be the same for all of them.

Whenever you do what they tell you to do, IE pick a two digit number, add the digits, and subtract them from the original number, you will ALWAYS get one of those numbers (9, 18 etc).

It doesn't matter why, but you will.

All the prediction does is tell you what symbol is on those numbers.

Try predicting it yourself, by looking which symbol is on one of those numbers.

Cringe
Oh i see

clever trick

jerlark386
OMG. Why is this still going on? Its a stupid little puzzle/trick and we're having a three page debate about.

Yes, I think we've established that.

Infact I think just about nearly every post has said 9 at some.

Rules of 9, or anther words multiples of 9..

We don't care that the number can be eventually reduced down to nine.

We care, that hey! wow I guessed a number and the crystal ball 'guessed' the right symbol. And you know why?

Multiples of nine!

Cringe
Its magic! velho
