PINBALL
I really like em my favorite album is "Does This Look Infected" and my favorite songs are Still Waiting, Over My Head (better off dead) and The Hell Song
Whats your favorites

el_barto
I'm not into too much, but the band I just joined likes them alot, so I guess I should get used to them.

PINBALL
Yeah i like em

StinkFist462
nahh, not for me this band is.

RedAlertv2
theyre awesome

Neo_Version 7
Still Waiting is pretty good.

SnakeEyes
I like this band. They get a bad rap from a lotta people on KMC. They're not the greatest band to listen to, but they are fairly talented and diverse with their albums. I mean, each album pretty much has a disctinctly different feel/sound to it.

RedAlertv2
Thats true theyre sound has evolved over time

Otaku
IMO they suck.

Lana
They're crap.

SnakeEyes
Care to give any reasons? I'm just curious as to what your viewpoints are...

PINBALL
I really like the way they sound

By that you must mean that over time they started stealing music from others then mixing and matching it and claiming it as their own. I started a thread about it a long time ago and it does seem to come up in any searches. Anyway, Sum 41 wrote a song called "We're All to Blame" where it is a mix of System of a Down's "Chop Suey" and "Forest" with hints of "Boom." The slow parts are the rhythm of Chop Suey while the faster parts are from "Forest" with smaller parts of the song that resemble "Boom" and other songs from SOAD. The song "No Reason" from the same album ("Chuck"wink sounds like one of the famous Linkin Park songs (sorry, don't listen to LP enough to pinpoint the song).

cool_dudes_rule
there good.

barbarossa
They disgust me.

at least tere songs have a meaning

So far the only person who has given a reason why they dont like em is myth why dont the rest of you guys like em

Lana
Why don't I like them? They're nothing special at all. They're just another pop band pretending to be rock/punk who in reality is just an MTV whore who'll do anything for money and fame. Just like Simple Plan and Good Charlotte, they're another cookie-cutter boyband with no real talent.

Barbarossa says he agrees with me.

RedAlertv2
Except that unlike good charlotte and simple plan Sum41 actually possesses a decent amount of skill

Lana
Except, no they don't.

SnakeEyes
Wow, real mature ^

I'm not saying they're the best or anything. But, it'd be entertaining seeing you try to play one of there solos...

And Myth, I just finished listening to both Chop Suey and We're All To Blame and the only parts that sounded similar were the slow parts; but they were definitely not the same. I also just listened to No Reason, which doesn't sound like any LP song I remember (I used to listen to them about 4 or 5 years ago). It's alright if you don't like the band and have a solid reason behind it, but it just seems as though your picking 2 songs from one album, saying that you don't like em, and then jumping on the bandwagon of hatred.

eggmayo
Actually, Dave (Brown Sound) is an awesome soloist... most of their songs are actually really hard to play. And they do play their own instruments.

DarkC
A lot of their songs sound the same to me. Probably 'cause of Derek's voice.

RedAlertv2

say what you will, their guitarist is fairly good. He can pull some great solos, even if they are all really short. and the singer is pretty good. Ive seen live videos of them and they can pull off their songs well live, which is a big difference between them and most others of their genre, namely Good Charlotte. But its ok. From you, I would expect nothing more than to hate the band merely becuase they are "pop".

PINBALL
Agree^

I know only the slow parts sound like Chop Suey, I said that. At the end of the slow part, it jumps into the beat of "Forest" which is also by SOAD. As for the LP part, I even said I couldn't verify the song it reminds me of because I don't follow LP enough, it just sounds really similar. Especially when the lyrics kick in and say "I can't fake this anymore" which sounds like the part from the LP song where they say "I can't take this anymore". Its not just the words, its the speed and tone of them along with some of the guitar play. The rest of the song sounds like it mixes and matches other LP songs just as "We're All to Blame" mixes and matches SOAD songs. Other than that, I simply don't like their style as well. It has nothing to do with their popularity or the whole bandwagon thing you mentioned, it is a preference of the band and for me it is mainly the singer's voice. As for the whole implication that I don't "have a solid reason" thing, how often do you honestly hear somebody give the specifics of songs that they don't like? I think it is kind of bullshit to jump on the guy who gives more reasons than anybody else and then claim they have no solid reasoning.

SnakeEyes
Wasn't trying to "jump on you", but I just had to point out that they don't copy other bands' music. You don't like the band and that's fine, at least now I know why.

PINBALL
where did you think people were jum attacking you all anyone asked
was what were the reasons that you didnt like em thats it

Myth
It was the inferring that I didn't give reasoning and the inferring that I was "jumping on the bandwagon of hatred." I apologize for getting too offended though. I still disagree with you Snake-eyes about the copying though. I listen to SOAD all of the time and all it took was one listen to of "We're all to blame" to hear 3 extremely distinct sounds that came from System of a Down. You yourself admitted that one part did sound similar to Chop Suey. I'm assuming that if you were more familiar with Forest and Boom along with many other SOAD songs, you would have noticed what I did as well.

Alpha Centauri
I love the way people defend shit bands by saying "You try playing it."

I can't sing better than Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, but it doesn't somehow destroy my ability to call him a shit singer. I can't run faster than Maurice Greene, but it doesn't stop me having the ability to say someone is better than he is.

-AC

RedAlertv2
I think the reason people say that is so that you might go out and check the tabs for the songs and realize "hey, this is harder than it sounded" or something like that. For example I cant play some of Sum41's solos, and just seeing how hard they are gave me a greater appreciation for the skill involved.

barbarossa

No they don't. They are at BEST average. They are and sound like nothing but Pop-punk shit. The level of originality in that group is about is high as with the horror movies of today. I.E. Zero. But you, being a little pop-punker would not understand this. You instead will forever go on about how great and original they are. LOL.

RedAlertv2
wow. just wow. Pop punker am I? Sure I like some pop-punk. But I mainly listen to real punk because its better. I could name 20 real punk rock bands that I listen to. So dont insult me on music taste. Theres no need for you to be a jerk. I never said sum41 was original. I never said they were great. Get the facts together before you start bashing me. I said they were pretty good for a pop punk band, which they are. Their guitarist is a good soloist, and the band plays well live. If you would pull your head out of your ass you would realize that just becasue a band has been on MTV doesnt mean they suck. For the record, I hate most pop punk, but yeah I like Sum41. You can be immature about it all you want.

I also know you like the Unseen. You arent one to bash musical interests. So dont be so immature. Okay, kiddo?

Lana
But Sum 41 isn't pop-punk. They, just like 90% of bands that call themselves that, are in reality straight-up pop.

Jerk? Bashing you? I merely stated an observation gained from watching your posts over a while. And no, I will not "pull my head out of my ass". It's warm in here and I live in Chicago where it's getting chilly.

Just to give you a heads up. Greenday, Death cab For Cutie and Coheed and Cambria are not "Punk". LOL.

They are not good for a pop-punk band and they suck as a band in general. And yes, all bands I've ever seen on MTV suck ass.

Immature my eye. I called you a pop-punker. Which you are. YOU called ME a Jerk and said my head was up my ass. Alright, I indeed am the Immature one.

The Unseen? Besides Bad Religion, they are at least twice the band of any of those listed in your profile, so don't even start trying to switch the topic.

Kiddo? Judging by your capitalisation skills and musical tastes, I'd say you were a Sixth Grader. Kiddo. laughing

P.S. I never said this originally as you seem to think, but hey, I guess I Will now. Mr."Punk in Drublic", Your tastes in music are appalling if not sickening. There, happy?

you called me a 'little pop punker'. I deemed that bashing. It was obviously meant to be demeaning.

I never said coheed or green day or death cab were punk, did I?

Sum41 is better than most pop punk bands. Whether or not that makes them good is the listeners opinion, but either way it is still the truth.

I am not a pop punker. I listen to all kinds of genres. Unlike you, who has boxed himself up inside one genre and attempts to lower all who dont do the same. Which is immature.

The Unseen better than NOFX?! Never. You like the Unseen becuase they are punk, but overlook the fact that they are unoriginal and mediocre.

"Mr Punk in Drublic"? Are you seriously making fun of me for listening to NOFX? Ironic that you would be dumb enough to insult me for listening to the same genre of music that you are so attached to.

Lana
The most important thing that you seem to be forgetting, as I've said and you've completely ignored, is that Sum 41 is NOT pop-punk. They're just straight pop.

RedAlertv2
If so, then they are the best thing to ever happen to pop.

And barbarossa, you WISH I was a 6th grader. Because then this would be an even playing field wink

Alpha Centauri
Let's also realise that a band or band video appearing on MTV doesn't automatically mean they suck.

I don't like Sum 41, horrible band. Just throwing that out there.

Box myself into one Genera? I'm QUITE sure that The Cure, The Lower Class Brats, Depeche Mode, A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails and The Unseen are not in the same Genera. Moron.

The Unseen Unoriginal and Mediocre? HA! The Unseen completely revamped the entire Street-Punk sound and Scene. If you have heard some more of their stuff, or went to a show or two of theirs, you might think differently. However, you haven't and wont. So educate yourself, little boy before you try to attack something.

And yes, I am making fun of you for listening to NOFX. Any wannabe Poseur loves those idiots.

Even playing field Eh? If you are going to attempt to criticise my intelligence, do so in a more creative manner. As is, you are just making yourself look the fool you are.

P.S. AC, I did not say that they sucked because they appeared on MTV, I said that everyhing including Sum41 that I've seen and heard on MTV has sucked.

EDIT: HAHA! You just added the Ramones and The Clash to your list in your profile to add more punk bands! Thats Amusing to the point of being sickening.

Don't forget Tool, Rage Against the Machine, Queens of the Stone Age, White Stripes, System of a Down, Mindless Self Indulgence....all stuff I know you also listen to stick out tongue Your musical tastes are nearly as varied and random as mine.

(I say nearly because Opeth scares you stick out tongue)

RedAlertv2
For the record, Ive seen the Unseen live and listened to a full album of theirs. Completely lifeless on stage, same thing with the album.

And how am I a poser for listening to NOFX? I listen to what I like. If I was some sort of punk rock poser, I obviously woudnt admit to liking Death Cab or Green Day

and Ive had the Ramones and the Clash on my profile for a few weeks now.

RedAlertv2
edit sorry

PINBALL
Wasnt Unseen on the warp tour and if they were i remember seeing them trully horrible just another bunch of screaming losers
And Barborossa i dislike you more than i dislike ac now congrats
and how does Red listening to NOFX make him a poser there pretty cool just cause you obviously dont like em doesnt mean people who like em are "Posers"
AC is just saying he doesnt like em thats fine but you dont need to start throwing out insults

Lifeless? Here is where I begin to wonder on your very sanity. Mark Unseen is crazy on stage. Lifeless my ass.

Screaming losers? Yes, thats coming from the ever respected opinion of PINBALL. LOFL.

You dislike me more than AC? Wow, I never thought I'd live to see the day where I inspired more hatred from a stupid newb than AC. I'm actually proud of myself.

And for the record, I never called him a Poser. I said that almost every wannabee POSEUR (Get the spelling right, dammit) listened to them. Buy a pair of glasses if you really have that much trouble reading.

Also, I did not start with the insults. Go run off to do your fourth grade Addition homework and listen to some more Sum41. Besides, I think I hear your mommy calling you to bed. laughing

you did start the insults by calling me a "little pop-punker". And you continue to use instults towards myself and pinball in order to avoid using logic.

To be honest, I cannot remember which Unseen album I listened to. I could find out, but I cant recall its name at the moment. It was just one of a dozen cds I borrowed, so I wasnt paying great attention to the title.

And seriously, "poser"-"poseur". Trivial isnt it? Either way, I am not one. I would never listen to NOFX to try and impress anyone or fulfill a social clique. Besides, no one here has even heard of NOFX, so its not like a poser would listen to them.

So please, no more insults.

I fail to see how you proved anyone wrong as all you did was state an opinion.

Nor can you back up the claim that everyone would agree with you, which is blatantly untrue.

PINBALL
Have you seen em live and if you think they are good then i dont think you have good taste in music

I haven't seen them live, I don't listen to punk too much.

And you're not one to judge anyone else's taste in music....

There are plenty of bands who put on enjoyable live shows without having amazing music.

That being said, no band that is shit to me could ever put on a good live show. In terms of me enjoying it.

Yes, you are a Newb. That, however is a fact.

Prove me wrong? How the hell did you do this?

At Warped, the Unseen were easily one of the worst bands. The lead singer was standing there yelling the lyrics with a bland expression, and there was almost no movement on stage by anyone. To be fair, they were on a small stage, but the Matches were on an even smaller stage but they were jumping around and going crazy the whole time, while the Unseen jsut seemed bored with themselves.

You must understand that they were on tour for a long time. Probably tired out of their minds. Every time I've seen them- Generally in smaller venues. They let loose. Mark Unseen will go flying around the stage and periodically stop to share the Mic with a group of people, then take off again. The Guitarist will usually be rather enthusiastically entertaining the crowd while playing and the Drummer and Bassist do their best to emulate the others. Overall, not acting very bored.

PINBALL
Thats exactly what they were like when i saw em boring standing there if i went to a concert to see them and they were like that i would be pissed and i saw the matches a stage the size of a bedroom and there goin crazy jumpin around getting the crowd pumped while unseen boring as hell

I suppose they couldve been tired. But it was only half way through the tour, and plenty of other bands were still full of energy. Maybe just a bad day or something, but ultimately a poor show.

I saw unseen towards the beginning and bands at the end like fall out boy probably did top 5 stage performance throwing guitars stage diving and unseen just stood there screaming

Nobody out now or ever, sounds like System of a Down. If they do it's because they're ripping them off.

I think he was saying that sum41 was coyping some of their guitar stuff, as opposed to actually sounding like them. The two bands sound totally different

tabby999
i've got a newfound respect for Sum 41. and as for a band not being as energetic as The Matches, well they are a pretty full throttle band live, so its hard to compare them

RedAlertv2
The Matches are great live for sure

tabby999
they are indeed, one of my fave shows ever was their show in Melbourne

RedAlertv2
They were cool at the Warped Tour. Tehy were on a smaller stage so the crowd got to be up close to the band.

tabby999
when i saw them they were in a pretty small venue, i got to go onstage with the band, twas awsome
