I don't have anything really against Superman. He is who he is, and I get a little irritated with him having to hold this iconic position of God-like status; no one at Marvel has to hold this position. It's like DC thinks they will crumble if Supes goes down in defeat. A parallel - During his hockey heyday, it was the conspiracy floated around the NHL : No one hits Wayne Gretzky.
Now, I have actually picked him as the winner in many versus matches - all those people claiming Hulk beats Superman, I say No.

Speed Blitz owns. Silver Surfer would be dead before he could even react. Have you ever seen smallville? Clark can come into a place knock some one out and then run away without even being seen, its like he stops time hes so fast.

There's speed - then there's Silver Surfer speed. Try 350 million times the speed of light, like in The Infinity Gaunlet.
Plus, Surfer would recognize solar energy signature from Superman and know he's coming from who knows how far away.

To add with that, here's Superman fighting Conduit, who used one of Superman's weaknesses (Kryptonite) against him. Superman was able to defeat him using superspeed, displayed strategy, and protecting innocents; Superman is still holding back too.

It would make sense. In some ways, I believe Superman is slowly learning his powers and what he is capable of. The return of Precrisis Supes as well as Batman telling current Supes to stop acting so "human" would confirm a "free your mind" type deal...Unfortunately, we have about another 6 months of waiting to find out.

Supes has projected Cosmic flame(not heat vision) when Sundipped as well, and strangely enough, seemed to have mental control of his flaming cape.

The main problem with this Superman Respect Thread, IMHO, was that it came out wwaaayyyy too late. The guy who made/is making the new movie "Superman Returns" shoulda seen this stuff...then he might've thought long and hard before casting as he did, before changing the costume and god-knows-what-else he's done.

Maybe, if the writing and acting are good...

Superman is good. Even if Lex does the craziest thing, Supes knows sanely knows that he cannot react instinctively and irrational given his powers and might.

Besides, he looks under the influence there. Not saying Superman doesn't get angry, just saying that he is good.

I don't think he does... He just does it sometimes because he likes to.

I would guess that Superman does not require food for energy, but he may require it for raw materials, for self-repair, as in healing. Though I suppose some could argue that in his kryptonian cells is machinery for converting energy directly into matter...but this, IMO, is pushing it.

Do you know the answer? I was just bored one day so I did a little back reading on Superman and in AOS #463 while Superman was racing Flash Wally asked Superman if he needed to eat and Superman basically said that he dont have to cause he burns the solar radiation.

Here is another sweet little feat...after getting hit by Thors magic hammer...a MOMENT later Supes in still in the fight unfazed like if nothing happened...

If I remember right if you notice Superman is punching somebody. I think that he punched Thor right throug a wall after being hit with the Uru hammer.

Supes living (although very sick) with Kryptonite in his body. He was around like this for quite a while and still somewhat functional and as shown in this scan, still fairly invulnerable. It's not the instant kill people think it is.

He's been using his Heat Vision in all types of ways, great scans! I'll try to put some more up at the end of the week.

Hey Avalon, the Superman Annuals are a colletion of his stories right? Because I hate that I have to keep ordering an issue that I missed out on.

Hmm, usually the annuals are just their own separate side stories.
If you are looking for collections, I suggest checking out www.amazon.com I've gotten some hard to find stuff there as well as on ebay.
