i couldnt read all of that it was very hard can someone explain the jist of the article for me?
Director_Joe
I was under the impression that Rowling struck down all of the theories that regarded someone else really being Dumbledore.
Ushgarak
Oh great! A 60s sci-fi plot! That's what we need!
TheSun
Well, wasn't that a load of rubbish. That guy is going to be very disappointed lol.
zombieman
Talk about over-analysing!
hhhhr

all i know is that i got to read all the books again, seems like i missed on a lot
if his theory is right , snape has to be innocent
The Phantom
Wow.... holy crap....

I like this theory. I mean, hell, it makes a lot of sense. I mean, could it be a coincidence that they both a scar on their left knee (it is their knee, right?), the features in the face, how they are discribed. Very interesting... I'm going to look more into this.
The Phantom
(Before yelling at me for double posting, I can't edit so bite me)
So, if this theory is true also, I bet I know the ending of book six as well. Since the last word is scar, we think of Harry's scar (ok, if this is in that link, I haven't read that part yet so I'm working on my own mind here), but it wouldn't be. It would be R going back in time, and it would be about his scar on his leg, the same one DD has.
Oh I love people making new, interesting theories. I'm am officially hooked on this one.

Lol, I read this years ago - JKR has already said it's untrue. Honestly, I thought you were sensible.

Wait... the scar thing or the R being DD thing?

2. I know i've heard it some of it before, its kinda old.
3. No. Ron being Dumbledore?

"Your inventiveness knows no bounds, and I do not mean that sarcastically; these theories open up exhilarating new vistas of possibility"
That amuses me, because we all know that the truth of it is:
"Your so-called inventiveness is just random juvenile abble that tries to reduce any attempt at sensible plot to the level of bad Star Trek episodes (and at least there they fit the mood). And I do not mean that sarcastically."

hmmm i managed to read ALL of it to me i just think the have similarities
not that the two are one .......and if it were i think it would be to confusing for the youngsters readin it .....
Take_Me_Away
thats got to be the stupidest theory I have ever heard.
rabid_pacman
at the risk of being flamed, I must say, this is very interesting, and I like it. However...something about it, and I don't know what, but something just doesn't scream "Harry Potter" to me...plus there is the fact that she said it isn't true...still, I like the theory, and who knows? *shrugs*

That "theory" is the worst interpretation of literature I've read so far.

No. That had to be the worst and most far fetched HP theory I've every read.
Pielover666
I aucutally like it. I smell a fan fic comin....
Hollypoo
It's like super confusing...Ron being DD..Umm no ..I knew it couldn't be true!
exanda kane
That theory is......FANTASTIC. Sure, its a load of crap and won't happen, but I must congratulate it , they sure have done there homework.
And If say, this would be the ending, I would be happy and it would raise my opinion of JKR. Damn. Metaphors in Harry Potter? Multi-layered writing in Harry Potter? Clever writing in Harry Potter?
But as its not happening we'll all be in for a lame-arse ending...
Anoushka
i KNOW this is stretching it too much, cuz do you realise that if this were true,a WHOLE NEW SAGA of TIME TRAVEL would come up?like,if rom were really dumbledore, then who was dumbledore when ron was first born, before the cycle of time travel started?etc, etc.
this ain't gonna happen in the last book,i'm telling youy,it's too big to be brought up all of a sudden.plus it's too damn philosophical, for this time travel question has been boggling minds for ages.that incident in PoA is waay too small to count.
and since when did Ron have Seeing abilities?he failed Divination!besides,he never got quidditch captain in the end.

Its blatantly obvious it wont happen. Would be nice if something as clever as this did happen though. It is just wishful thinking...
And about the Divination lessons that Ron fails...isnt it said that Dumbledore doesnt see any point in the subject...

jawdrop omg, its too crazy, jk wouldn't do this to us, whould she??? jawdrop
exanda kane
No - it wont happen. I would just like to know how someone can say that the people who made theory havent done their homework.
iluvsirius
im not saying that its true ..but there is another thing in common...DD has always had this certain fascination for Muggle stuff just like Arthur(just as the example of the socks and Molly if you read the theory) so it just hit me when i was reading again HFP and i read something in chapter 5 i think it is that he was in Slughorns bathroom and said something about muggle magazines and something else dont know just read that part...and i guess there is something like that 2 in book 1...but im still not sure
neo313
The main things that strike me are that Dumbledore also has red hair, and that Ron's eye color is never revealed.
Who knows, maybe JKR is trying to cover up what is possibly the biggest plot spoiler of the series.
Anyone familiar with Star Wars knows that George Lucas filmed the "I am your father" scene from The Empire Strikes Back with the actor saying "I killed your father" (or something else), and then later dubbed the actual line over it, in order to protect the secret.
I'm just saying, JKR could be trying to cover it up.
This is a really interesting theory, there are just sooo many coincidences between Ron and Albus.

my point exactly, there's only one book left, and i really think that unless JKR decides to wrtie a LOTR length epic,it ain't gonna happen,it's just too much to spring on the reader at the last minute.remember, there are already too many unresolved points in the books, the veil, harry's prophecy, etcetc.
it's a bit more of using commonsense to figure this out actually.the book would end up being a literary failure as a conclusion to the series!as it is,she's not getting any better *shrugs*

it's not the plot or anything just...her writing style is,i don't know...not as engaging as it used to be.
exanda kane
It doesnt matter if shes already said it wont happem, i dont even care if she says that but this is a brilliant theory.
This is a stupid thought, but say perhaps that JKR was going to do this - then the theory appeared so shes now had to change it.

It was the editing process. It seems non-existent throught the HBP - maybe the publishers just decided to give her free rain.
Anoushka
so she isn't as good as i thought she was in the beginning then.she really was this non-engaging all the while,it was the editing which saved her!hah.
ah sorry.cynical moment.seriously though,i like her ideas but the way she puts it to the readers...ah well.i'm not much of a writer myself, who'm i to criticise the woman to made it big.heh.

She is a good writer of course; yet all writers have editors to keep there books in shape. Possibly because of her success the publishers gave her two much slack.

meh,still don't think she's a good writer.
sorry.her writing just doesn't do anything for me anymore.maybe i grew up,maybe i've learnt more about the skill of writing novels,i don't know.all i know is,now i read the books only coz i wanna know how the plot unfolds.

wow as much as you guys dont like the theory, I like it....just my fasincation with shockers.....i thought it was amusing and the evidence provided does seem to hold some truth....but since the lady said it wasnt so ima just go with that....
seanjones
this theroy is way to advanced for an childs book... and varry impossible... if DD is ron but aged then y wouldent he jus take out the dark lord when he went to invite him to hogwarts.... i mean that would just b too outragiously wrong and twisted... kinda like the saw2 movie.
exanda kane
it doesnt matter if its going to happen or not (which it wont) but this is the most mind blwoing theory ive read on HP so far...

if you still see Harry Potter as a childs book well then weve got serious problems...it stopped being a childs book since i think book 4...and if he took out the dark lord when he went to invite him to hogwarts well it would be REALLY WEIRD that he just killed a kid in an orphanage! things have to pass for destiny to be fulfilled it could be tampered with but not extremely changed cause then history will change...

yes it is a childs book. jk wrote them to be a childs books.
also it wouldent be weerd if you took him out as a child, hello if you could go back and kill/capture one person in order to save countless friends, and family members.. you would do it would you not??? you would not nessesaraly have to kill the kid ether.. you could capture him... or there are even other possibilities.,.. the point is if DD was Ron but older, DD would know what the dark lord was up to... DD would have know when rons dad got hurt in the ministry in the 5th book... he would have know harrys name was going to come out of the goblet... he would have ben able to save harry... i think its just a vary smart wizard.. who knows what he is doing. And also he would have know what happend when the girl got cursed in the 6th book... and he would have know where the troll was in the 1st book... think about it.
Regulus A Black
this theory is impossible, JKR has already said it herself.
and lets say for example it is possible They left out Dumbledore's Brother How would they explain him?
exanda kane
Although this is impossible its the 'most mind-blowing' theory I have seen, and unless someone presents me with a better one I will hold that view...
MistressofSnape
You have a point there. It is "mind blowing." The fact that somebody sat and thought about all of that, finding everything and rereading the books over and over to come up with that is indeed 'mind blowing.' Refreshing even and also very scary.
pezza
ron is not dumble dore from the future or anything jk said that herself go to jkrowling.com and look it up

wow it kinda makes sence but how can 2 ppl be 1 thats like impossible isn,t it , it was really interesting n maybe ron n dd do have sum relationship ....................maybe there related

Obviously you didn't read the entire thing. They can both be the same person by Time Turners or something. But this idea is really destroyed witht he Time Turners in book 5.
