sS part of my combative fitness calss, where we are getting fit through combat (Weights with proper Jab Straight Curve Upper Cut Techniques) A lot of push ups, Sit ups, Twists, and a lot of variations of thoes..

But there is something unsettlingly fun about that class... OUr Sense (black belt, sixth Dan, working on his seventh) Is teaching us the propper techniques of how to properly kill another human being with bare hands. (Propper placments to the kidneys, strong enough blow to the temple and groin...)

I do not see anything wrong with this, seeing as how we are all mature 17+ people who HAVE to be off the streets to even BE At Dawson College, And he is teaching this for defence purposes only and not making us go out and perform the acts (Heck, we did not even practice it on each other, he just showed us the exact placements and technique)

But would anybody here think this bad? I don't see anything wrong with it, but I can surley see what CNN might see.... if you see what I mean.

It's all Ying and Yang, nothing wrong with learning such things, or course the thing is to have such "power" but not to use it. And some people I know think it aids in understanding the bigger philosophy not to cherry pick the kind of things you learn - even if that means gaining "lethal" knowledge.

well the fact that you're asking if it looks bad is a good sign... shows that you are thinking what it could become

and no, it shouldnt really escalate to anything besides learning something, unless you actually get into an altercation on the street (where you may very well indeed be required to kill someone if your life is equally on the line, but only if theres no other way and your life is at stake of course). However I doubt anything like that would ever come up.. most of the time its just people poppin' mess.. and I'm sure thats more than tolerable without having to throw down

What? It's useful information.

you can learn all this stuff outside of school anyway. Kid's in israel learn it in gym class too through Krav Magah, except that emphasises using objects as lethal weapons too.

I think it's fundamental fun

It's no biggie: you could go pay for some classes and learn similar things. I am rather skeptical, however, about how well you're going to learn these things (let alone ever be capable of implementing them in a fight) if you're not even practicing them.

I've know many people enroll their kids in such classes...Even thought about it for myself......It's about discipline and control also....And nothing wrong with knowing how to defend yourself..
