Well there are lot of Thanos threads being created, well i have decided to create a thread completely devoted to everyones favourite eternal (Well not everyone's, i prefer Hyperion but who cares).

Questions :

How come this guy is so powerful? What is the source of all his power. Are any of the other Eternals, anywhere near as powerful ?

What are the origins of the Eternals, What are their powers. What are there feats ?

Thanos is often referred to as a Titan. Do the Eternals rival the other patheons of Gods ?

What are Thanos's feats. Is he really as strong as Superman, More durable than Juggernaught, and more powerful than Goku ?

He is widely regarded as being more powerful than Surfer, has Thanos displayed such a wide variety of powers, or is he just 'Blast, Blast, Blast ?

What are Thanos's most diabolic schemes, and what are his greatest victories.

Is Thanos really Marvels answer to Darksied, or is there ,moer to his character ?

He's called a Titan because he hails from Titan, not Earth.
He's considered more powerful than surfer because he's beaten Warrior madness Thor with the power gem when Surfer couldn't, he's held his own against Odin when Surfer was out of the fight with one single blast, because he's beaten Surfer to death (literally), because Surfer got KTFO by Tyrant, while Thanos managed to hold his own destroying quite a fair share of Tyrant's fortress, etc. etc. etc.
Yes, Thanos is considered Marvel's answer to Darkseid, only better IMO. The whole in love with Death thing gave him a lot of potential, his intelligence both scientific and tactical puts him way above darkseid. However in raw power, pre-c DS would stomp Thanos.
About Eternals, depends what you wanna know. About Earth Eternals or Titan Eternals? There's a difference.

I have never read the storyline but I heard Thanos greatest achievement was when he got the infinity gauntlet which controls reality........................

He's so powerful because he's the son of a Skyfather-level Eternal and is a genius at LEAST on par with Reed Richards. He's enhanced himself with cybernetic impants, making himself even more durable and strong. Any Prime Eternal should be able to challenge him in raw power, being Skyfather level themselves.


Created by the Celestials, they are a race of indestructible, self healing psychic, matter manipulators. They naturally absorb cosmic energy with which they heal almost any injury, bolster their stamina and invulnerability, manipulate matter and fire destructive energy beams.


Stronger than Supes, yes. More durable than Juggs? No, but his invulnerability is comparable. And, Goku can shatter a planet with a direct energy blast. Thanos destroyed a planet when he was fighting with Drax. Just the force of their blows tore it apart. And Thanos wasn't even injured.


He's a schemer, like Doom, but when necessary he will step into a fight, and almost always come out on top in some way. He can slug it out with the Hulk and Drax, trade blasts with Surfer or Tyrant, or outwit his opponents like he has done with Champion of the Universe.


Well, he conquered Titan and killed his own mother after amassing a personal army. He's attained incredible cosmic power via the Cosmic Cube, the Infinity Gauntlet and the Heart of the Universe. He created a beig who was several times more powerful than Galactus, and then destroyed it when it got out of hand.



HA! Darkseid WISHES he was as much of a badass as Thanos. Darkseid is just an evil prick. Thanos, while he can be evil, he has shown honor, and he does keep his promises. I dunno, I just respect him a bit more than Darkseid.
