I just discovered this show recently since it began coming on after Full Metal Alchemist at 2am.
I've never really watched the show closely. I've just had it playing on the television while I was on the computer or trying to sleep. I've watched certain parts but never from start to finish and besides I am late to it probably.
I mean, I don't know what it's about, when it started playing and if they are reruns or new episodes.

But I must comment on the opening theme song.
The song that comes on in the beginning when the show is coming on. I really like the part that goes something like this. Well I can't really type it cause it's in a different language, but if anybody knows anything about the song in the beginning of Ghost in the Shell or know's what im talking about and likes it, let me know.
I'm gonna try and type the part I like anyway: "gorde de loru, gorde de loru, gorde de lorus."

I know that's not correct spelling but if you know the theme song and know the tune and say these words to your self you may know what part im talking about.

Well any insite about what this show is all about and any other pertaining and not pertaining to my questions above is also welcome.

I've saw something on the internet about the movie a while ago as I was searching for the Soundtrack from the show to buy.

the movie's name is Ghost in the Shell and it came out a looong time ago in 1996. i think they made a new one too or the people be hide ghost in the shell made some movie close to it, i really can't remember confused1

Well I bought the Ghost in the Shell : Stand Alond Complex Soundtrack a while ago online.

There were a couple different ones so hopefully I bought the one I was trying to get. The one with the opening theme song on it. That's the only reason I am getting it, for that one song.

It also a volume 2 one and them one with another subtitle besides Stand Alone.
Kind of confusing. My fingers are crossed.

That movie is too amazing, one of the very best in my opinion. The animation is jaw-dropping.

I wasn't talking to you and have no idea what you are talking about or who you are.

I finally got the Original Soundtrack in the mail. And so far the opening theme song is great. I could listen to it over and over again. I was hoping that it would be more longer than what's shown in the opening and I'm glad to say that it is. And it even has lyrics. I had no idea that some of the stuff being sang was English, mixed in with some other language, I'm guess japanese.

New Episode of this show is coming on Next Saturday at 12:30am.

I would have never thought they would start new ones after this long while. As soon as I catch on to the show and the old episodes they start new ones. That's pretty convenient for me.

I also ordered the two more soundtrack CD's and both of the movies.
I'm becoming addicted to online buying.
After the Original Soundtrack that I just bought online that I have was my first onine purchase of anything ever. It's easier than I thought. And also fast.
And I'm just starting college so I got a card, so now I'm going crazy. Hopefully I'll be able to restrain myself soon, even though I think I'm gonna end up buying the first and second seasons of the series once I understand the difference between all of these "volumes" of everything, because frankly, I don't understand it. These things having 7 and 8 and more volumes and I don't know which one I want and what's on what and what's the difference between them.
Ugh, confusing. I'll also buy the Full Alchemist First and Second Seasons when I get the "Volume" thing down, maybe some soundtracks of the show.

I've been watching GITS SAC since AS aired it last October-Nov 2004 and I loved it from the start. After recording every episode (I'm a little striped for cash X_x) and viewing each one countless times, it has yet to grow old. I've been on the edge of my seat for the past two months after catching wind of the 2nd GIG airing in November and now that it has, I'm glad I've got the first episode to watch over again and again and again till the 2nd this Saturday, lol. I was really hoping AS would do their 2nd viewings of Saturday nights of GITS SAC 2nd GIG on Thursday like they normally do, but they didn't, oh well. I would love to give you a detailed recap of the entire episode, but it would probably be better for you to see it in order for me to keep this post a little more succinct. But don't worry too much, from what tid bits of information I have on the entire series (check Production IG's site under 2nd GIG to see series episode overview), missing the first episode is not too critical to the entire story. Most important info: Section 9 is reinstated by the PM after "succesfully" eliminating the hostage threat at the Chinese Embasy (47th floor) and is now back to work. Oh, and the Tachikoma's are back, lol. GITS SAC would have to be one of my most favorite series (of only like 5, lol) right up next to CB and FLCL. Mentioning CB, the reason why this series seems to stand out so well is not only in its detailed storyline and animation, but soundtrack, which Yoko Kanno headed. Come to think of it, I can't seem to remember any anime with music by YK that wasn't good. Anyway, I hope you have better luck this week catching the 2nd episode.
PS: After reading the episode overview at Production GI's site, I feel as though I'm going to explode of anticipation after getting a glimse at the final episodes of 2nd GIG. Anyone whos anyone and into anime should not miss this series. Oh yeah, and the opening you mentioned wanting to see after listening to the opening theme is just as good if not much better than Inner Universe of SAC, still comprised of multiple languages of course, but I think it sounds awesome that way. the ghost in a shell movie is a really good movie i still have it i got it a couple of years ago

Good thing I had the recorder working tonight, that episode reminds me alot of FLCL, in which premonitions shown through out the session can REALLY screw your take on that episode's plot up. After reviewing the episode a second time, it clicked, and now it makes much more sense. But then again, thats how it goes most the time with GITS SAC, which I asume most people will agree. Now that I see the connections appearing through out this session, I will have to take it that this episode is one of those "critical" ones that reveal a lot of information from other point of views to further flesh out the storyline. I would suggest anyone planning on continuing viewing of SAC 2nd GIG understand this episode as it seems the facts given in it will become the main issue that follows the entire season. What response did you guys have to Ep. 2; would like to get a few opinions so that no detail is left unturned. 7hanks!

Yeah, sorry about that post. I posted that after a three day session of research for my AP term project on String Theory in which I think I only had around 7 hours sleep total, just about ready to collapse from mental fatigue, lol. But yes, you've got it right in that I sure did kinda go off topic there. What I meant to post was that I thought you only heard and seen the Inner Universe openning and that the new one was pretty good (in my opinion of course). I for some reason thought you hadn't heard the new openning theme (nuts, what was it called again, saw it but can't remember it now) and so attempted to describe it for you, lol. Oh, one question, WWIV is also refered to as the second Viet-Nam war in Ep.2, and so I wonder who applied this term to WWIV, what do you think? My quess was the US, but it could have also been the Japanese in attempt to down play the war's "underlying agenda's." And so with that, I now wait another week in anticipation of GITS SAC 2nd GIG...

Was i the only one who wasn't 100 percent sure if that was really the main character with the purple hair. She looked different from the first season and since i missed the first ep. of the second season, i would like to know if she looked liked this in the first ep. too or was she just like this for a mission?
I was getting confused by the episode at first but then i caught on. That man leads a misguided and confusing life, it was hard to keep track of what was real or not and at some points it had me second guessing the real things for fantasys, like when he was leaned up against his locker, i was wondering, is this real or fake.

I just recently received my copy of the second ghost in the shell movie in the mail, but the first hasn't arrived yet so i can't watch them yet.

And for the person about the opening movie. It wasn't even CG like I thought it would be. I wouldn't say it's better than the first season opening movie.

Ah, maybe your right about the First season openning being better, I'm not sure, I still like the new one, but anyway... on terms of the main character you mentioned (The Major/Motoko), yes that is a disguise she is wearing for this one episode as I believe they hacked Gino's cyberbrain and found that this disguise had atributes closest to the woman that gave him the STD and resultantly, joining the military. So that the Major would be able to give Gino, in a way, the ultimate in terms of a psycological hold on her, this disguise of a prosthetic body was used, allowing them to reach his thoughts on what they thought were assasination attempts he would go through with, but in reality, could not comit. Since this ep. does have a lot of "premonitions" involving actual POV (real) to main character POV (fantasy) translations that carry over seamlessly and back to actual abruptly, this is a diffucult session to follow accurately. Anyone who has not yet seen it I advise viewing it at least twice if you are completly lost (you wouldn't be the only one, lol)
PS: GIG at this point in the season could potentially have two meanings. First (and most likely) is in its literal meaning. A gig is a period of time in which someone accomplishes an extended task as part of life, for example, this would be the Major's 2nd GIG(gig) with the Section 9 crew. The other possible meaning comes from the fact that gig is spelled in all caps (GIG) and therefore could denote that it is an acronym. If this is the case, then I am unable to tell you what it could stand for just yet. For now, I am just using the literal meaning. Hope I was able to help clear some things up for you.

I love this show! I dont get to watch it much anymore but when i did i was glued to it! I didnt really get it at first. "Ghost in the shell:complex 2" awesome! I really liked the theme song...very catchy

Ummm... The song's in Russian, with a few Latinate bits thrown in. I can gladly translate it for you, the lyrics are actually quite deep. You should have bough like a Russian dictionary or something and not tortured yourself like that, lol. But I'm here now, and I'll be happy to assist. ^_^

i just finished watching an episode where she says when she was younger, her prosthetic body was hard to control and she onced crushed a doll in her hands by accident and cried.

I guess that's what the whole doll crushing thing in the opening intro to the show is about.

This all of course is from season one, not the new season.

I read a review in Empire magazine of Ghost in the Shell II and it sounded absolutely amazing, so I brought the first on but haven't watched it yet...so I was wondering what other people thought of it...

Finally I had to search through all the remake threads for the actual one...our lovely anime mod should do something about that. Anyways The stand alone complex is excellent. I can't wait to watch the next episode...after one I was hooked...

Yeah this is a good show.

But for some reason, it's not really pulling me in. I try my best to get into an episode and watch it, but if I'm not into it, I won't do it.

If I really pay attention from the very beginning with no distractions, then I'm definitely pulled in but I'm usually on the computer when it comes on and that really is helping.

Hopefully I can do something about that.

I still haven't watched the 2 Ghost in the Shell movies that I have.

well, u know the thing about the love in inyuasha that i think u see reflected in kurouni kenshin, and vandread, is that theres always this grip between char. in the show the love between the main two char. but they always denie it even tho its so obvious, in all three u see that, i mean u also see, the girl hitting the guy or yelling at the guy, trying to cover up there true love, (in the case of vandread the guy is the one yelin at the girl) but u see the basic characteristics in all three

yah, love is an ongoing thing in anime, the demand is for action and blood shed, but i believe there cant be action without love, otherwise, action would get old

yah, i kinda got out of cowboy, its sort of like the balance in that one was off, it was sort of 10%love 30%action 40%slow20%crapp, i mean i liked some of it but some of it was just kinda blah, like about that girls past the one who was frozen in cryogenics, her past sucked boring, but i never saw the whole series, ending ect.

bookstores, suncoast, sam goody although they moved from the mall here to another place maybe even another mall
