When Obi and Anakin were sparring with Count Dooku, Palpitine said "Get him!". I think he was talking to Dooku, since Dooku started really pounding on Obi and Anakin. Just a thought.

I don't remember Palpatine saying anything like that...
He says "Yeah" or something when Obi-Wan takes down the Battle Droids, but that's it...
Jedi Priestess
Whatever it was, it was one of the dumbest things I had ever seen I remember thinking to myself at the time.
Tangible God
He said, "Get him!"
But it was low and under his breath, noone could hear it. He said it right after Obi wasted those two droids.
PVS
whatever he said, he expressed joy that obiwan was able to get through the droids and fight dooku...which makes no sense to me...shouldnt he have been hoping for obiwan to be struck down, so that he could not influence anakin during the duel, and keep him from killing an unarmed man? shouldnt he have made that disappointed squinty face when obiwan cut down the droids and jumped for joy when obiwan was knocked out?
Tangible God
Maybe he felt Obi was less of a threat than Dooku, afterall, Dooku would proabably try to usurp Palps one day, and Palpatine wouldn't want that would he.
Or maybe it's because he was trying to act like a guy who's happy to see Dooku and his droids fail.

Whatever he said, it was stupid. Bad editing.

not only that it was completely and utterly out of character in my opinion
Alkaselzer
Indeed. I was like 'What the...?' because he's a) the fatherly, kindly old Chancellor or b) the insidious, plotting old bastard, who, if anything, cackles maniacally. I don't see room for 'Get him!' in there.
Jedi Priestess
Well and he's always been so "statesman" like. That was just bad for him to have that reaction I think. Now maybe a slight smile or something like that. But this cheering?
Dr.Gumby
yeah a slight smile or even a nod would have been fine and in character for him but palpy + cheerleader = oh dear god
mace=badass
He was playing the part of wanting the jedo to prevail thats why he said it.
SpyCspider
wut bout when Anakin was trying to land the Invisible Hand? Both Obi-Wan and Anakin were frantic and Palpatine gives R2-D2 a "look." Again, probably not very significant but obviously Lucas wanted a shot of that for a reason.
Decay
or he wanted to seem like a greatful prisoner being rescued? if he just sat there and gave them an analytical stare, or a sidious typle look it would kind of throw the fact that hes supposed to have been kidnapped, be completly helpless, and relying on anakin and abi wan as his only hope. plus it would help give anakin the illusion that palpatine actually cared about him. sitting in a chair with no concern doesnt seem like the right responce for a politition whos supposedly seen to real action in his life.
Tangible God
That's true. He would have looked like a total prick if he just sat there watching on with his kindly Chancellor face, and totally misbelieving to the Pair if he put his Sidious face on.
But letting out that sudden, low-toned, "Get him," seemed that he was cheering on the Jedi and booing Dooku, which is what Chancellor Palpatine should be doing after all.
FistOfThe North
I think the "Yeah" Palpatine quietly yelled out was there only for comedic purposes. But now that i think about it, it could've been taken that way or i could've been taken seriously. How his "Yeah" should've been taken, by Lucas standards, i dunno..i thought it was a tad humerous watching it for the 1st time in theatres on opening hour.
El_NINO
trust me he says "GET!" to Dooku because Obi was about to attack him. He was warning him but realized hes dressed as the chancellor.
overlord
It already was a weird scene with him just sitting there smiling. And later sitting on Anakin's back. He set his live at stake.
It was great though that he ordered Anakin to kill Dooku. That was freaking beautiful.

Nah, just the word "Get!" is too incomplete for Palpatine to say. He would've clearly said "Get him!" just low enough not to be heard..
And "Get" who. Who was Palpatine really talking that to when he said that. Too confusing. It sounds like he said "Get" but he really said "Yea!" which would've made more sense.
Maybe he was just excited about seeing Sith and Jedi fight just like he was excited about seeing a Sith and a Jedi fight in ROTJ about 30 somewhat years later.
Conflicts entertain him, i guess...
Joseph_Kerr
I believe the plot was to kill Obi-Wan, try to convert Anakin to the dark side, if that didn't work, kill them both. But Sidious had other plans... kill Obi-Wan, convert Anakin, and kill Dooku. Dooku thought Sidious would protect him until it was too late. The plan was for two jedi to die, but not the two he thought.

He had to hate that part. His life was at stake while the ship was landing, and he couldn't even help if he wanted to stay in character. It makes me wonder if he used the dark side to help land the ship.
roughrider
He said a quick "Yeah!", he was playing the part of a helpless prisoner cheering for the Jedi, he wanted Anakin to kill Dooku and for Obi-Wan to die too, if possible, by Dooku. That's why he was trying to convince Anakin to leave Obi-Wan behind, they need to escape now etc. He didn't accomplish that, but succeeded in pushing Anakin closer to him, and the Dark Side.
roughrider
Landing the ship? Maybe.
chinabing
Palpatine says one word: "Get--" and he stops after that. The close captioning on the disk says the same.
I presume palpatine was acting the entire time on the ship, and only revealed dark thoughts to Anakin when they were alone, (or with Dooku).
SpyCspider
yea seriously, why's there a debate on what he says?
In the DVD, the subtitles clearly says "Get!"
