Well I am interested what is the perception in the USA at least....

HSA-savior or cost ineffective?
HRA-false pretense to Hsa?
Self funded- an empolyer's dream come true?
Fully insured- a big companies dream?

There are alot of possibilities to choose from. So what might help the USA's system for healthcare cost to employee and employeer relationship while keeping the corporate monster at bay without severe gov't intervention?

Is it that the health care in US is in a precarious condition ?

Wow so many complain but no solutions I am kinda disheartened.......no ideas or solutions from the public?

There are no easy solutions to this problem. But the lack of health care in America for many, is appalling to say the least.

Socialized healthcare eliminates a number of problems.

First and foremost, it obviously makes healthcare availible to everyone, not just those who can afford it.

Second, since doctors wouldn't be paid such ridiculously high wages, people would become doctors because they wanted to help people, not to make money. This would obviously be beneficial because doctors would truly CARE about patients.

Third, it would eliminate the "business" aspect of healthcare. There would be fewer malpractice suits. Right now in my town there's a big issue about hospitals. The hospital in our neighboring town of Springfield (which is so close to us that people sometimes call it Eugene-Springfield) is planning to move into the building that currently houses the one here. I don't know how they're justifying this, I think the deal is that they say their building is too small and they aren't able to serve enough patients. The problem is that this move would leave Springfield without any hospital, and force ours to move somewhere else in Eugene. Where the hell do you build a hospital in a fully-developed city? The whole thing is ridiculous. If the money aspect was simply removed from the equation, there would be no move in the first place.

So many springfields Its funny I live in a Springfield USA where I moved from I lived 15 minutes from a Springfield USA

Anway I am not sure socialized healthcare realy is the answer but it could be........I mean anyone can walk into the ER and get care with or without HC in the US.

While thats true one ER visit for something as simple as strep throat can end up costing 2-300 bux a pop. SO thats not a viable solution.

Socialized healthcare might be the answer what do I know.......however of we cannot implement that what else might we be able to look at for an answer?

First aren't you the one that corrected me on bible belt cuz it was good ( I do mean that) and secondly I wish I had an answer. Suppose the USA is kinda stuck atm for health care Oh and I was looking for imput I mean you might make me rich!

I would UP this and get information from other countries perhaps?

Health care in the US is too expensive but then in Canada where it it socialized there are long waits...not as many specialists as in the US, so many come here for their treatment, or operations....Still US health care is through the roof....BUT...if you were go into a hospital for a a serious injury, you have to be treated..if not insured.

No, this isn't true. You will find more or less the same dedication to the principles of the job in either system.

But yes, health care should be social in modern Western society; the US is an odd exception.

Perhaps doing a 50/50 type deal..privatizing some aspects of Health care..and socializing others. For example, primary care givers(ie pediatricians, gynocologists, dentists *non cosmetic*) could be part of the social system, seeing as how they are generally used to take care of everday maladies. If any major surgery or cosmetic surgery needs to be done, an individual could then have two options..

(1) Use a socialized healthcare professional..but have to incur a waiting period(wouldn't apply to cosmetic procedures)

(2) Use a privatized professional, less wait time, But would have to incur out of pocket expenses.(all cosmetic surgeries would fall under this category)

Only problem with this system is that you'd probably have a lot of price gauging by the privatized guys. To remedy this, the government could come up with a procedural pay scales..which would put a cap on the amounts these privatized practicioners could charge for various medical procedures.

Sounds like a plan to me. Perhaps I should become a politician...

Uhh..I believe we kind of have this system already..it's called MEDICAID/MEDICARE(elderly)..:doh!!:

lol...Still..it could be extended to cover a broader base of people...not just low income.

I am very appreciative that my company provides me health care at $60 / month. Dirt Cheap.

Over here in Belgium ppl pay a serious amount of taxes for health care, Also employers pay a big amount of taxes for health care. This, altho extremely expensive, results into a very good and very social system (the more you earn the more you pay -in taxes-, the less you earn the more the state pays for you-).

When you go to the dentist, the doctor or the hospital you generally only pay a fraction of the cost (the state covers the rest) unless you want plastic surgery (non-reconstructive) or a very rare disease or treatment (which isn't funded by the state). Ofcourse extra's like a private hospital room and so forth cost extra (which the state does not pay). This allows us to keep doctor and hospital bills very low compared to the US.

socialized medicine in my opinion is kinda stinky If you have it great but bringing socialized medicine to the USA would be craptastic

costs a lot of money, but it's fair and just IMO

The US can't even handle Pensions without turning into debt for get Free Medicare.

Yup Seriously though in the USA we need to take responsibity for our retirement and health.....(yes I know the older generations were told something and they should get it.) I don't see why anyone around my age 30 realistically cannot sit down look at bills look at odd expenses and decide how and what lifestyle they want to retire into......

Health as well....USA is the fattest country in the world we have more fast food restaraunts then probably 2,3, or even 4 other countries combined........ our declining health and increased costs are a pretty good show of what we prioritize in the USA as consumers
