He was a great singer in a great band.

That's like saying why did so many people love Princess Diana and not Randy Rhoads.

She didn't even get that much publicity considering the amount that more mainstream artists usually get.

Personally I'd rather not have nobodies paying homage to Layne Staley because they probably don't even know who he is and refer to him as the "lead singer of A.i.C".

Alice In Chains were around alot longer in TLC they did not respect him like they should.
