The previous record 11174 runs was made in 156 matches, while tonight the new record stands at 11187. Master Lara got there in only 120 matches.

Before the start of this test match, Lara was 213 runs away from the record and with 3 QUESTIONABLE descisions made against him this series, many were doubtful whether he would even get to break the record in Autrailia.
