Chthon-Chthon possess a mastery of the forces of magic on a single description. In the dimension where he resides he has absolute control over every aspect of that dimension's reality. His major limitation is that he cannot freely teleport between dimensions because it takes such an enormous rift to accommodate the massive magical force that dwells within him. He cannot travel to Earth without the most elaborate of preparations due to the exhaustive magical screens around Earth first erected by his sister Gaea and reinforced by Earth's multitude of sorcerers over the millennia. It is far easier for Chthon to take mortal hostbodies on Earht that to manifest his psychophysical entirety. Even so, it appears that Chthon cannot easily (if at all) transfer his entire power into such host-bodies.

Vs

Dr Fate-Doctor Fate possesses a wide variety of powers. In general, he can fly, is resistant to damage, and has greater-than-human strength. He is susceptible to toxins in the air, however.

At his most potent, Fate is an accomplished sorcerer, able to match most other wizards in the DC Universe, but not as powerful as true extra-human beings such as The Spectre. Fate has been observed throwing bolts of mysical energy, crafting solid objects out of energy a la Green Lantern, and transforming objects into other kinds of matter. The full limits of his magical skills are unknown.

Over time, Doctor Fate has evolved to be somewhat similar to Marvel Comics' Doctor Strange, in that both possess amulets which can emit beams of light, and both live in mysterious abodes filled with mystical books and objects. (In fact, the two were temporarily merged into a single character named Doctor Strangefate during the Amalgam crossover.) Fate is considerably more withdrawn from humanity in both demeanor and locale than is the Manhattan-based Strange.

vs

Merlin-Powers/Abilities: Apparently immortal, and at the least exceptionally long lived. Able to assume a variety of forms. Capable of a wide range of abilities, either through mystical or ultra-high tech means, including (but not limited to) granting superpowers, firing bolts of energy, teleportation (including across dimensional boundaries), creating life-like illusions, bringing the dead back to life, levitation. His powers appear strongest in Otherworld, which may explain why he uses guile so much of the time throughout the rest of the Multiverse.

Merlin remains respected as one of the greatest sorcerers in Earth's history.

K Von Doom
an Elder God vs an acccomplished sorcerer vs another accomplished sorcerer?

That's kinda lopsided

golem370
What about them two against him?

K Von Doom
Chthon would still get the better of them. Merlin and Dr Fate wouldn't be able to overcome Odin or Zeus; and Chthon is on a level higher than those skyfathers.

thesilverspider
dr.fate as in nabu?

K Von Doom
Now my first post looks odd.

The trio wins, it seems to me. They teleport him to another dimension and whoop on him.

leonidas
current sw could take him herself.
